hastatus is lottery spawn every 2hrs @the crossroads in Quicksand Caves from various ants, (pld, war, rng, blm types)lv65+
note: aeds in hastatus area do not drop strings, rdm can solo all mobs.
also, sand mantle isnt 100%.
you get four items from a crate, i ended up with

tree cuttings
kindred seal
green chip
quest is repeatable, good luck.

The PLD Anticans drop it. Hiplomochus or whatever. Just got one, but tossed it cuz i dont have the other items

Not sure on exact details but the bow is 1/4 of the items needed for a Sand Mantle. Its obtained from the Goblin NPC who only appears in the desert on earthsday. The head, body, and strings are the other items needed.
I just saw one today, would really be nice to know what its for.
