You do get kicked off.

Confirmed that it does indeed kick you off of the Chocobo when you change zones.
These tickets are rather useless.

However, it may help you if you only need to walk one zone away from wherever the Stable takes you.
Limited Time

And by limited riding time, they mean about 4 minutes. =\
A letdown

Man. D: I just created a new character and got about 4 of these via the adventurer appreciation event. I had in my mind that the chocobo would last as long as a regular one, meaning my hike to Jeuno from San d'Oria would be a safe one.

SE never ceases to disapoint me. D:

These are also obtained in the 2006 Valentione's Day Event after completing it once and obtaining the NQ Charm Wand. Good for mules you are too lazy to run anywhere. :P

I got 12 of these items because I had a GWP. I was lvl10 and decided to go to the Dunes. However, I automatically got kicked off the bird when I zoned.
Now I got 11 left, and I think I might throw them away. Or just go Chocobo riding a bit if I'm to lazy to walk 5 minutes ^^.

Btw. The item is called "Free Chocopass" but is named "Chocopass" in your inventory screen. Maybe someone would like to know that.
Don't bother with these

I finished the Adventurer Appreciation quest the other day just for something to do and got 3 of these as my reward. I tried one of these out the other day. I had a PT invite for the dunes while I was in Bastok and figured I'd use one of these things since I didn't have my chocobo license yet at the time. I was lvl 18, so I figured that'd give me pleanty of time to get to the Dunes and it'd save me some time starring at my guy walking.
I leave from Bastok Mines after using the chocopass and am heading out thinking everything will be fine. I'm passin by people walking, on a high horse so to speak. I get to the zone to N. Gusta and what happens? THE FRIGGIN CHOCOBO LEAVES WHILE I ZONE! What a waste! It sent me into like the 9th level of pissed off...
Newbies on Chocos

I believe this is a protective issue, to make sure that new players do not hop on a choco, ride from Windy to Bubu, set HP, and then get stuck at level 2. They dont want them getting too far too soon. What it IS good for, is say, for a level 7 or 8 character who wants to get to the tougher mobs on the other side of the larger beginers areas, like East Sarutabaruta, and Gustaberg.

You can get these in the Adventurer appreciation campaign if you can't yet ride chocobos, just if anyone wants to try and get them before it finishes.
helpful?

My "gold pass partner" tried this item lately. I wanted to do the "Geological Survey" mission with him. Nevertheless his chocobo decided to drop him in the center of South Gustaberg.. He was only lv4, but I guess it won't hold much longer anyway..
Yes, these ARE new

This item is not the same as this item, the chocobo ticket: ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=4755

The chocobo ticket has been given out as part of a number of events. It can be freely traded among players and has its own Auction House slot (under Other/Misc., if I recall correctly). It is usable at any chocobo rental place, including the crags. However, it is subject to the normal job level (15 in town, 20 elsewhere) and chocobo license requirements.

The chocopass, on the other hand, is obtainable through use of a Gold World Pass. As an Exclusive (Ex) item, it cannot sent using the delivery system, traded, bazaared, or auctioned. The Gold World Pass is part of the Vana'diel Adventurer Recruitment Program, as explained at this link:
www.playonline.com/ff11us/event/recruitment/index.html

Directly copying from the above link: "This is a ticket that allows a character to rent a chocobo free of charge, regardless of job level and/or chocobo license status. Rental is limited to the stables in San d'Oria, Bastok, and Windurst, and riding time is limited."
