For any of you curious about this weapon. It's amazing!

Either Mainhand with /war
or dual wield with Maneater/Temperance. Bst tp gain skyrockets @_@

Because axe is a BST weapon. Great axe is WAR's weapon. Since you're going to be subbing THF and using steel cyclone on HNM anyway, I don't see much point in getting good axes.

Don't you sub thf and use scythe on HNMs?

I play blm, but if I did play bst I'd sub thf cuz my nin sub is underlvl'd.

Ok. If in the End-game, a most damaging War is someone who main-handed Maneater and off-handed Ridill/Joyuese, can a Bst replicate that combo by off-handing this axe?

It has longer delay but its damage is higher then Joyuese and only 1 less then Ridill. Plus a Bst has higher skill in axe then a War in sword.

The thing is, Maneater/Ridill (or Joyeuse) is used because:

1) A- Axe skill, B Sword: you want at least the ME to connect reliably, and hope your Ridill/Joyeuse accuracy is decent (which is why you only use a Sword offhand if you have Sword merits).
Had WAR specialized in Sword instead of GA/Axe, Ridill+Shield would be used over Maneater+Ridill, it's faster.

2) Sword WS suck, so you need an Axe in main hand for Rampage.

3) Hidden/latent bonuses on Maneater (but you can get +12atk from a Viking Shield... fewer than ME, but still decent).

4) What will a WAR sub other than NIN with 1-handed weapons? /SAM and /DRG are better used with GA.

Those 4 reasons are what make slowing Ridill worthy.

Now, BST.
1) BST also has A- Axe, but E in Sword. It doesn't matter, though, since this is an Axe.

2) So you don't need another Axe for Rampage.

3) Nice, but not worth slowing Temperance for.

4) BST doesn't have the native WAR JAs, so subbing WAR is better.

In short:

BST/WAR with Temperance Axe+Shield > BST/NIN with Maneater+Temperance.

Imma have to -strongly- say otherwise... I know a Ridill/Joy war that would prolly out DD any axe/??? combo.. he says his vorpals crank out far more than his Rampage.. and rampage is only rly good if u got a haub or hauberk am i right?..even if not, Sword WS dont suck, bro... BTW, he is 8/8 Sword and 8/8 axe

This looks ok for BST but the dmg is 39...thats as much as my fudo, and the delay is higher as well. I dont see why a war would want this unless they want nin's out DDing them.

There's only one small problem with your comment... War's can't equip this even if they wanted to.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 20 2005 at 11:35 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yet Again, we the mighty Warriors are "Shafted" when it comes to our needs. As Warriors, we are asked to sub ninja, carry 2 axes, and looked up to use 'Rampage'. We have been doing that for the longest time. Yet not given even 1 of the "God-like" axes for us to use! Why Me?!? Why do I keep faithful to my Warrior?!? No one really wants us to use G.Axe much, it's not like we have a A.O.E. with any axe. Not to mention theres no real axe between 62-69 for us. SE...Please stop doing us wrong, and fix this!
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 08 2006 at 6:16 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I aggree between this and the relic axe it seems like SE is trying to make things hard on us.

Yeah, boo-hoo, so unfair that a BST that can't use a Joyeuse, and has E sword skill anyway if they ever got their hands on a Ridill, should have this one "occasionally attacks" weapon.

You wars have it so tough. Cry me a river.

From what I have read.. This is dropped (100%) from the Jailer of Temperance. The Jailer of Temperance is considered to be a Tier 1 Sea god.

The Jailer of Temperance is popped is a lottery pop of 'Zdei's on the first map of the Grand Palace of Hu'Xzoi (first map) at H4, C8, L8, J13, and F13

The Jailer of Temperance also drops a Temperance Torque (not 100%) and the 1st Virtue (not 100%)

The Jailer of Temperance is pretty much immune to magic damage, but not magic enfeeblement. Also, depending how what it has out (rings or sticks), different weapons will do more damage.

Its not an easy fight. =/
I was the only RNG there, so i got it, Dont have any virtue stones because i havent finished any obi/gorget quests. Why would a RNG put Virtue Stones in the ammo slot? SE already nerfed us. This is a great axe for BST however.

Warriors get the great axe version.

I'd say this is the consellation prize for defeating jailer of temperance. If you use a virtue stone on it, you gain the effect of occasionally attacking twice.
