Spamming piece of crap...

Me and two LS mates just did this. Drg84 (me), Pld85 and Blu71. Hit red HP a few times but that's only because it spammed 1000 needles 8 times in a 2 minute fight. Used Angon and Warcry (no berserk just in case) and whenever I used Penta Thrust I hit for 1500+ dmg which accounted for about 4-5% of its HP so it has a lot of it.

Overall a pretty easy fight.

I just solo'd this as 75SMN after SE made the avatars MP cost 4 more MP /tick.
So basically Just kept summoning Carbuncle with a -2mp/tick cost. (had Apollo's Staff, Royal Cloak, Carbuncle mitts equiped) Had 150/1320MP left at end of fight w/o using any Blood Pacts, Just Avatar's Favor. So yeah if you a taru summoner with lots of MP like me easy fight. And if you have a free Carbuncle, then your good too.

Good Luck

Can a 65 SAM/THF solo this?

This thing has TP regen so it can't really be RDM-soloed effectively, but it can be duoed very easily by a 75RDM or BLM and a 60+ DRK. Just bind-kite with DoT and occacional nukes, and have the DRK Absorb-TP as often as possible to counteract the TP regen. /NIN is helpful to prevent giving it TP but not necessary with effective use of Blink/Stoneskin.

I was hopping to use the Ceremonial Dagger technique but it does not work (at least at 75) because the mob is too low level; I was not able to get consistent 0 hits even with -atk and -str gear. And even if you got it to work you would still need a DRK to Absorb-TP unless you're prepared to take 1000 Needles every 2 minutes or so from its natural TP regen.

1000 needles = 1000dmg split evenly between enemies within area of effect

Went up against this mob last night with a 75 MNK and me (62 SAM). We just barely lost...had it down to one more hit and the second 1000 needles went off. It's a TP mob. My friend used counterstance and hundred fists which caused it to use photosynthesis every 2 seconds. No joke, as we realized after the first asuran fists did <-> dagame to him that counterstance was a mistake.

We got lucky one the first two needle shots that missed, but the second one hit my friend for 1020. He survived, but 10 seconds later when it was at 33% hp, the first 1000 needles went off, it dropped him. I lasted another 5 seconds before the second 1000 needles went off and killed me. It can be trioed, but have someone healing if it's possible. The more people that are meleeing it the more it will use it's TP. Just keep that in mind if you're taking him on.

Also, clear out the two sabotenders that are chilling in the lake, before you pop this thing. They have faster respawn times, about 5 minutes. So kill them fast and the NM even faster.

but if you warn them, then they might move o.O dont warn them and use them as a meat shield :D they should last a few 1000 needles at least :x except if they are taru, but thats ok because tarus dont have souls :O

1000 needles isn't a tp move, went to help some ls mates do it, thing was doing 1000 needles every 10 seconds, sometimes sooner. party of 6 took it down like nothing, 1000 needles was averaging 150dmg to each member and supposedly the fewer people the more dmg to each person.

One last thing, the 1000 needles affects everyone in the area, so if others are near by you may want to warn them first.

Soloed as SMN/WHM

I just defeated this as a 68 SMN/WHM.

It took about 45-50 minutes of kiting around the rock to kill it. Having a vermillion cloak/carby mitts/light staff, or juice will help so that you can keep going for the required amount of time.

I still find EP mobs in the area, so I kept up Sneak at all times. Carby and Shiva were hiting for a reasonable amount, so its defense doesnt seem too high. The damage output from your avatars easily out-weighs the mobs regen ability. The main problems with the fight are the potential links and 1000 Needles.

Treat it like you would soloing bombs in Ifrit's Cauldron. Do not do anything that will give you more hate, do not use any blood pacts. Cast Carby, run out of range, recast Carby, repeat. Cast any buffs or cures with the mob of your screen.

I took him down with a 55mnk, 60pld, 60war, 67smn, 69blm and 59whm (me). Wasn't all too much trouble, the SMN did a mass-stoneskin each minute or so..

It seemed like the first 50% of it's HP (so while fighting from 100% to 50%) it used the HP-regen move Photosynthesis, and the last half of it's HP it used 1000 Needles. The curaga's quickly drained my MP, so I had to Benediction, but if the SMN/BLM curaga'd more that would've been unneccessary. All-in-all, easy mob. :)

Actually, the Smn could not have curaga'd more because he was subbing blm.

I believe SMN/BLM meant the SMN (/whm) or the BLM (/whm) not one person who was smn/blm... confusing though, yeah.

this NM really isn't that rough. it is popped by touching the dreamrose while having "leaute's last wishes" flagged. take out all the sabotenders in the area, as they will link. also note that this NM will spam 1000 needles and some sort of hp regen move. make sure you have plenty of people with you to absorb the 1000 needles, because he uses it very rapidly in sucession. a group of less than 8 people will probably find him difficult. also, make -sure- everyone in the group touches the dreamrose after enamorado is dead, and obtains the key item. average level of my pt members for this was 63.
