Description

Anguenet near the docks in Carpenters' Landing speaks of an item that can be fished up. You have to choose the 3rd option (Newtpool) for him to talk about the Muddy Siredon.

Take the route you chose on which he told you about the item and try to fish it up. You can use a Fly Lure or Lufaise Fly, but be advised the Lufaise Fly can catch a Phanauet Newt as well. Fishing in Newtpool exclusively will catch only the Siredon.

After you have caught a Muddy Siredon, trade it to the Tonberry Lourdaude, also on the dock at South Landing. He mutters something about 100 gil, so trade him 100 gil to receive a Blackened Muddy Siredon. Interestingly, this fee is a one time charge, subsequent cooking is done at no charge.

The item is used in CoP Mission 5-3 in a BCNM fight vs 3 Mithran Trackers. It counteracts their TP Regen ability.

As of the June 07 update, muddy siredon can be caught anywhere in Carpenter's Landing/Phanauet Channel. I got five in row on the docks right near the tonberry using Composite Rod with tav. flies or fly lure. You don't have to worry about stockpiling the other newts in the process either.

The Guide says Lufaise Flies can catch the other newt type as well, however, I've caught some 30 or so Phanuaet Newts with the Hume Fishing Rod/Fly lure configuration. They both catch both kinds of newts.

I know that this quests' reward is used for the Mithran Tracker BCNM in the Promathia Mission storyline to stop their amazing TP gain. I am all about preparing ahead, and would like to stockpile a few of these for future use while I endlessly ride the boat hoping to get a MP+20 ring. Anyone know if there's a Promathia mission requirement for this quest?
Barge when?

Anyone know how frequent the barge is through Newtpool? I have been at the port for over 2 hours and the only route it takes is the main canal and Emlea Waterway.

I did the same thing, the newtpool route is the route comming back from central landing, so to get there use the emlea waterway and then come back to south landing with the newtpool route.

Once you get it, trade it to the Tonberry standing next to Anguenet along with 100 gil and you'll receive the reward. Some kind of grill item, don't know the exact name.

The item itself is used in CoP mission 5-3, in a BCNM fight vs 3 Mithran Trackers. It counteracts their TP Regen ability.
