Summary

Using the map given to you by Rodin-Comidin, find a route through Nyzul Isle and rescue the captured Luzaf!

Walkthrough

Take the Assault Warp portal out to the Nyzul Isle Staging Point. Walk forward to the pole in the middle of the room. Click on it to accept the mission. You will receive a cutscene. After the cutscene, head to the runic seal on the far end of the staging area. Clicking the runic seal will transport your party into a 30-minute BCNM battle.

The battle is against the Immortal named Amnaf. Engaging her will cause four gears to spawn. The gears can be slept by bard lullaby songs. You are aided in the battle by Naja Salaheem. You must keep her cured; if she dies, you lose the battle. Most parties kill the gears before taking on Amnaf.

At 50 percent, Amnaf warps away. You can rest up before finding her again; she will not regen her hit points. When you find her again, she will spawn four more gears. Follow the previous strategy to continue the battle.

At 10 percent, Amnaf warps away one more time. She then becomes a soulflayer. Rest up, find her and finish her off. Use Poison Potions to defend against sleep spells from Amnaf.

If you lose, you must get a new key item from Rodin-Comidin in Whitegate to get a new key item.

You'll get another cutscene when Amnaf dies to complete the mission.

My group of RDM (me), SCH, THF, NIN, BRD and DRK went at this not too long ago. Naja can be a real pain in the ***, especially if the goes after the blue mage early. Her damage is enough to wake the BLU up, but not enough to pull hate, which is why we wiped the first time. The second time, we decided to have me pull all the gears to the first room (the one you start off in) while the BLU slept in the second room. This way, Naja would follow us into the first room and attack only the gears, not the BLU. Same strategy for the second fight. Very easy this way.
Hope this helps

This fight was fairly easy... I am really, truly sorry to those that had a hard time. The only annoying thing about it was the fact that when you lose, you have to go all the way back to that damned taru...

****NOTE****
This setup was chosen because we couldn't get a brd. Bards work well in this, but for what we needed blackmage worked just as well.
also, im not biased as to what setup people choose. Everyone plays different. so a certain job witha certain person may work better for a certain type of play style or party setup. That is why i think its good to stick with the same people. And people with multiple jobs, Its good to read ahead so that way you know and are able to plan ahead. This game is good because it requires skill. there is no definite setup, its what gets the job done.

Went in with:

This was Saturday's setup. Sundays setup was scholar instead of smn not that i didn't want one, because i love smn, but because he wasn't going to be online. we won on both days, just had to go again on sunday, because the people i did the other toau missions with were back online.

Me as Paladin/warrior 75
Redmage
Blackmage
Summoner
Samurai
Warrior

At first we decided to go in for sh*ts and giggles because the Samurai went afk. went in and got killed. Was rather funny though. We wiped and the sam came back. We went in this time with intentions on winning. Oh on our sunday run, we got Naja killed. HURRAY!!!! That was because we weren't paying attention to her...

Before engaging as pld, I used defender and reprisal. Reprisal works well on these.

We decided its best if the blackmage went in to sleep Amnaf. As soon as sleep landed the gears would spawn. Then each of us grabbed one and went to solo in our own little corners. ^^ The gears are rather easy to kill. weak to bind, and gravity. I solo'd mine as pld. Then when the gears were dead, we started on Amnaf. I immediately voked, and started tanking. Getting her down to like 40% due to wsing and bios at the end had her down to like 27 when we got to her again. We finished this first room in literally 3 mins... was like O.o
Rest to full after that. dont worry about Naja, she wont rush in anymore...

On the second floor we repeated the step. Ok that guide was wrong about the amount of gears in the second room. This B$#$% popped 4X the amount of gears, so i ended up tanking 5 at a time. As the blackmage casted sleep, I went in and used sentinel, rampart and warcry so that i could get all the hate and keep Naja from dying or getting hit. Then the others just piked them off. So like before we started on Amnaf.
Rest to full again.

Then on her final form. I went in and got hate. Damn soulflayer casts, curse and many other ailments. especially its ice spikes. But we defeated it like a normal exp party, but it took longer than normal. I don't have much advice on the last part, but just know your job...

Hope this helps

Goodluck...

We had a couple of wipes, but overall it was an easier fight than the previous Yaguda fight for us.

We played around with a couple of jobs switches but what worked for us was:

Whm Pld Nin Thf Sam Bst

First room the nin aggrod the Blu. Once the gears popped we all took one. Whm slept Blu really well.

Second room: rested up. Nin aggrod Blu, gears popped, Nin kites the gears from one room to another while we took out the blue. Once the blu was down we took the gears off him. (we thought the would depop once the Blu was down, but no such luck)

Last room was pretty basic... we killed it. There were times we were all in the deep red but overall, there's noting too special to mention on the soulflayer form.

setup:
pld/nin
sam/war
sam/nin
mnk/war
rdm/blm
whm/blm

Room 1: Wipe! Buffed up, PLD ran to aggro and collect gears, RDM did the Elemental Seal/Sleep II trick on Amnaf and everything was working fine... until Naja decided to switch from attacking a gear to attacking the BLU. The BLU woke up, resisted RDM's sleep, killed RDM, hate shifted to WHM due to curebombing, WHM goes down while the melees and PLDs finish up the gears. PLD and DDs turn to engage the BLU, all eventually fall leaving her at 52%, Naja solo'd the remaining 2% causing the BLU to warp. We RR up, rested to full, and decided to keep going.

Kiting in this first room is VERY tricky due to the enclosed space, and this sadly increases the chance of Naja attacking and waking up the BLU if she gets too close. It's worth noting that the Gears are fairly weak, with one Fusion SC (Kasha -> Gekko) dropping them from full health to dead quite easily.

Room 2: Much easier run. PLD aggro'd gears, ran, and accidentally aggro'd Amnaf as well. After chasing her down and pulling her off of his kiting train, sam/nin 2-hours, dies, and remaining melees clean up BLU before picking off the gears. Things got a bit hairy with only 2 DDs left and I (sam/war) had to use my 2-hour and a Vile Elixir +1 in the course of finishing off Amnaf and tanking the pulled gears. Kiting is much easier at this stage since there is a much longer course available.

Room 3: Straight up fight with no deaths or scary moments. Thundaga III hurt without stunners, and the Ice Spikes were next to impossible for the RDM to dispel but outside of Amnaf's obnoxiously high HP in this form, this really wasn't that much of a challenge. It's worth remembering that the Soulflayer is a demon mob and so Warding Circle/Demon Killer can give you an edge against her. I activated Warding Circle upon engaging and counted 11 intimidation proc's between all party members in range. Didn't keep track of her HP, but it was a very long fight.

Would it be possible to have the regen effect from sanction to awaken from sleep instead of poison potions?

Party Set up: Smnx2, Blm,Rdm,Blu,Drg

Room 1: Blm Ele-Seal + Sleep 2 on the Main guy. And keeps Naja Alive with cures.
Each Smn grabs 1 gear, Mountain Buster for 50% of it's health.
Drg and Blu each grab 1 gear. Drg and Blu solo, their own gear, in seperate corners of the room, to avoid eachothers AoE.
Kill all 4 gears, rest full, and head to next room.

Room 2: Same thing pretty much.

Room 3: Smn throw Fenrir at the soul flayer.
Blu and Drg deal as much damage as they can.
Smn spam Eclipse Bite, and Mob should be dead by time Smn runs out of MP, or pretty close.
Rdm keeps 2 Melee's Hasted and the Blu Refreshed, everyone alive.
Blm Nuked and cured.
Smn's back up cured if needed.

We started the Final Boss when we got the 10 minute warning, and we're fine.
Take your time, don't rush. Buff up, rest full, and be smooth/smart for the win.

Do Not Start This Mission Unless You Are Sure To Win It.

Once you flag this mission, you will be UNABLE to speak with Naja until you win it.

So if you start and fail, you will NOT be able to get your mercenary rank changed by Naja, or speak with her for anything else until the mission is complete.
