In-Game Text

Description

After completing the quest "A Question of Faith", go back and talk to Ayame. Then go and zone into Oldton Movalpolos. Upon zoning you will witness a cutscene. Now head over to Misareaux Coast and kill the orcs there for a "Misareaux Garlic", which dropps off an Orcish Gladiator, Footsoldier, Bowshooter, or Trooper. The orcs were easily duoed by a Lv. 61 PLD and 52 THF). Links weren't really a pain as they can be in Davoi. After that, go to Lower Jueno and trade the garlic to Muckvix in the goblin Junk Shop. He'll give you 2000 gil and a "Letter From Muckvix" (key item). Then head on over to Kazham and talk to Magriffon. Trade him 10000 gil and you'll get a cutscene and the key item, "Letter From Magriffon" and a "Providence Pot". Note that this quest takes importance over the "Gullible's Travels" quests. Trading him the 10k will not go toward those other quests while in this part of the quest. Now head back over to Lower Jueno and give talk to Muckvix. He'll give you a Pungent Providence Pot. Enter Oldton Movalpolos again and talk to Tarnotik. Answer yes to both of his questions. Trading him an Ahriman Tear will send you off to Mine Shaft #2716 where a Lv.40 cap BCNM will be awaiting you. Make sure that each of your party members has an Ahriman Lens as everyone needs at least one for a teleport to the arena. Click on the 'Shaft Entrance' and select "yes" both times. You will enter the BCNM fight. There are 7 moblins on the field, but only Twilotak needs to be killed for the match to be over. However, the 6 other moblins (RDMs and WHMs) will be healing Twilotak. The WHMs seemed to occasionally cast Holy. It was a little painful, but not common enough to be a problem with a good WHM on your side. The RDMs however cast Dispel and Sleep II a lot. Take poison potions for at least the tank and obviously curing will end sleep. The WHMs and RDMs have low enough HP and can be taken down fairly quickly. However, Twilotak will be bashing on you which isn't very fun. >< We didn't have a BLM or BRD and our RDM's Sleep didn't work the few times he used it. That being said, I don't know if it was just a coincidence. When Twilotak is dead, you will end up in Newton Movalpolos on a cliff with no mobs. The goblin there can warp you out to North Gustaburg for 800 gil per person. Return to Ayame and recieve your Bowyer Ring. Talk to Ravorara after the BCNM. He will take your Pungent Providence Pot and give you 1000 gil.

I tried this several times.

First time plan was to go in fight him down to 3/4 and zerg him.

Setup was: SAM, DRG, WAR, WAR, WHM

Using 2hrs we got to about 1/2 health or so fairly quickly, but blood weapon and getting cured by mages sucked.

We RR'd and this time plan was for one WAR to kite him. and the rest of us kill off the back ground moblins, well teh WAR kiting didn't last too long, and he came and picked us off one by one killing his helpers, we got 4 dead I think.

I was the SAM and switched to NIN, one of the war's had to leave.

Setup: NIN WAR DRG WHM

This time I was tanking the main mob, its hard at first, I got all 4 shadows wiped instantly due to his swings and RDM casting. I recast Ni, as the WAR and DRG took down moblins it got easier. They actually beat all 6, but then WHM started to run out of MP. After the other moblins are dead, he seems to become a bit stronger (ie is more accurate and double attacks more particularly during blood weapon) could be a coincidence or my imagination. Either way, I died soon and as soon as I go down he wipes the other quickly.

So I went shouted for a bit, since we know 1 extra person might make the difference. One war switched to DRK.

Setup now:
NIN DRK DRG WHM BRD BLM

Same plan as before between march, elegy and mambo tanking is easier, we got him under 1/2 but then he'll Frypan (wipes shadows and AoE dmg) blood weapon and double attack 2x in a row no misses=dead tank. Dead tank=not long for the rest of the party to live.

This happened 2x, we got him really low once, but we were running out of meds and RR charges so WHM had to raise us.

We're gonna try again tonight. He's not too hard to tank, but he hits so hard (200ish when I only have 700) a Tp move + a double attack with no misses, puts you in the red fast, any worse you're dead.

I'd recommend 2x tank 2x healer 2x DD as optimal setup. We're gonna try it tonight.

Just to add to this, took two tries 2nd night.

NIN NIN WAR DRK SMN WHM

Some people meleed DRK while I attacked it, just have 1 person tank it straight up, and no on else feed it tp.

He wiped us first time due to poor team work.

2nd time worked perfect, no one died. The bit of extra healing helped.

I just did this BC and it would have been pretty easy if Twilotak hadn't used blood weapon twice.
Tear requested, not lens

I can confirm that the moblin request an Ahriman's TEAR and not an Ahriman's LENS for teleportation to the mine shaft. Correction sent.

Good quest info... How many people can enter the BCNM? 3, or 6? If 6, could it be done with a smaller party?

6 people can enter the BC for this. I also recommend you bring 6 people, though I guess it could be done with 5 or, thought stretching it, 4. As just a little to add, as long as you get a ton of DDs to 2-hour and destroy Twilotak, this can probably be done with 4 people. However, I went in with 6 people and I was a tank for this mission.

As with most CoP things, if you play it out correctly, it can be done with many different combinations.

Oh, and next Friday... is Hawaiian shirt day... so, you know, if you want to you can go ahead and wear a Hawaiian shirt and jeans.
