IDK how long you have been playing nin but at 75 you hardly ever use elemental ninjitsu because when meriting mobs usually die to fast to worry about hate. And in places like dynamis Pld are tanks and nins are kiting thats why you have war subbed. Most of your spell casting even when soloing will be enfeebling and of course Utsu. I put 1 merit into sange but I hardly ever use it. It would be good for TP but the whole point or nin is to use shadows and if u use sange they disappear, and recast timer can be a SoB esp. with a fast hitting mob <again thats what provoke is for>. If i were a 75NIN<and i am> main i would focus on katana, ninja tool expert and subtle blow.

NTE > Sans?

This is a great ability for a penny-pinching NIN, but in all honesty, no one really cares about the expenses of being a NIN. It'll save us a nice chunk of change over time, but the expenses of a job are the responsibility of a player.

Ninja Tools are an expense that every NIN should plan for, just like food. This ability is really nice, but seriously, it doesn't benefit your PT one bit. Sticking to meriting your San nukes or even Sange (though, useless as it may seem) DOES benefit your PT. That's what you really should be most concerned about, unless you solo more often than average. You can compensate for NTE with a bit of extra gil, but if you turn down a San spell, you'll probably regret it later.

It's a tough decision for NIN, but with 8 Category II merit options and only 6 expendable combo points, you'll have to be picky. It'll hurt later if you end up having to remove 30k in Limit Points if you don't realize this earlier. San nukes are really where the merits should go, unless you don't mind only having 5 of them. I think NIN should be all about versatility as a tank and a DD.

NIN's should just try to get ahold of those AFII hands and rely on those for this Job Trait, instead. Sure they're rare, but at least you'll be more well-rounded if you avoid meriting this. With the introduction of San nukes, kiting and MB'ing as a NIN just got a hell of alot better.
