High Elf

The notion of an Elven Nobility that holds itself aloof to the point that they are no longer the same race as other elves is fairly common. High Elves tend to be the rulers and the users of High Magic.

In the world of Norrath, as found in EverQuest, EverQuest Online Adventures, EverQuest II and Legends of Norrath, the High Elves (aka Koada'Dal) are the pure-blood highborn of the Elves. More on the Norrathian Elven races can be found under Dal.

  • Elf - EQOA does not have High Elf, per se, as it takes place not long after the destruction of Takish'Hiz. They have only Elf and Dark Elf.

  • Night Elf - In WoW, there are two Elven races: the Night Elves and the Blood Elves. The pale-skinned Blood Elves are the highborn, the nobility, and the Magisters. In a turn-it-on-it's ear move, WoW's blue-skinned Night Elves are the good guys who turned their backs on the High Magic, while the Blood Elves fell to their addiction to magic and have aligned themselves with the evil Horde, like a junky befriending anyone they think will help them get a fix.
