Manaburn parties

Contents [hide]

What is manaburn?

It's exactly as it sounds. Instead of fighting with swords, fists or axes, manaburn parties destroy their enemies with huge, powerful nukes. Black mages, bards and red mages will start getting invites to manaburn parties as they approach the higher levels. In early manaburns, black mages often rest their mp between each mob. Once in the 70s, manaburn parties can kill fast enough to reach double-digit experience chains.

Manaburn Setups

The standard manaburn setup is to have five black mages and a refresher. The best sub for black mages is /rdm, but remember to have at least a couple people sub /whm to help raise and erase when needed.

Manaburn Tactics

Manaburn parties employ powerful nukes with defensive spells such as sleep, gravity and stun to be successful. Generally, follow these tactics to be successful in a manaburn:

  • If roaming an area while manaburning -- such as at the pudding camp -- designate a leader. There's nothing worse than the party splitting up into two groups and accidentally attacking two mobs.
  • Blms open up with their best, non-ancient-magic nukes. Second-tier ancient magic isn't bad, but it's not as mp efficient as a tier IV nuke.
  • If a rdm is in the pt, the rdm casts gravity just before the first round of nukes hit.
  • In pre-lvl 70 manaburns, the rdm or bard can sleep mobs after the initial round of spells hit. Bind works too.
  • Blms repeat nukes. Most mobs die within two rounds of nuking.
  • Refreshers should keep refresh up at all times.
  • NO CASTING DoT SPELLS.
