Mob (WoW)

Mob is short for Mobile or Mobile Object, a term that goes all the way back to text-based Multi-User Dungeons (MuDs,) which are the predecessors to today's MMORPGs.

In World of Warcraft, Mobs are also called Creeps and represent any monsters or non-player entity that is the game for the sole purpose of opposing the players and being slain. Unlike other NPCs, MoBs usually share the exact same name and very similar appearance to each others.
