Questionnaire

Besides Final Fantasy XI, what other MMORPGs have you played and how do they compare to Final Fantasy XI?

Final Fantasy XI is my first MMORPG

How did you find out about Final Fantasy XI, and when did you begin playing?

I had heard about the game about a few months before the Beta Service. I signed up for it, but wasn't chosen and forgot all about it until an online gaming site reviewed the game. After reading reviews and getting a feel for the game, I went out and bought the game for PS2 in Spring of 2004. At that time, the game came in a large box with the hard drive and the game (Which I still have).

Do you know anyone in real life who plays Final Fantasy XI?

I have met a few people from the game that I knew in real life at the Fan Festival of 2007

What is your favorite job and why?

I don't have one favorite job in particular however, I do enjoy the last five jobs that were added the most mainly because they were Hybrid jobs. They added a new dimension to playing the game that was different from other jobs.

Which forum(s) do you frequent the most?

Main, Dancer, Corsair, and Blue Mage

About how often do you play Final Fantasy XI and how long is a typical playing session for you?

I usually play anywhere between 2-4 hours a day during weekdays and up to 5 hours a day on weekends depending on events that are occurring such as Dynamis and Nyzul Isle

How do you spend your time in game?

Most of my time is spent hanging out with friends doing quests/missions and helping out others when possible

Approximately how much of Vana'diel have you experienced?

I've been playing over 4 years and have experienced everything in the game with the exception of Einherjar and ZNM's. The one thing that I experienced that I did not like at all was camping Kings and after doing it for a few months I vowed never to do it again. From there I moved on and I was very fortunate to be a part of a very successful Sea/Sky/Limbus/Dynamis shell (Oceanids) and had a lot of fun. Earlier this year I took a break from endgame activities to take on a more casual approach to the game, and I am enjoying more of the smaller non-endgame content.

What is your favorite expansion?

Chains of Promathia has to be my favorite expansion so far, due to the depth of story and the fact that it presented a real challenge to players. Even though the difficulty of some missions are not what they used to be, it is still a great expansion which great rewards.

What is your least favorite expansion?

My least favorite would have to be Treasure of Aht Urghan because it brought forth a change in player mentality. Getting experience points became easier and the expansion spoiled a lot of players (including myself). What used to take 20-30 minutes to get to a camp now only takes five minutes using the Runic Portals. Because of this and the experience points Sanction bonus, no one wants to travel outside of ToAU zones to exp and would rather try and compete with eight other parties in a zone instead of going to a non ToAU area. This leaves a lot of older zones untouched for the most part, and they are the same zones that got the older players to 75 long before ToAU came out.

How far have you progressed in missions?

RoTZ - ZM-14

CoP - Complete

ToAU - M-26

WoTG - M-8

What is your favorite zone?

Not so much a zone but a place: Watchfire Glen in Grauberg (S)

The reason it is my favorite is that the little ponds glow at night, and when I take people there to witness it for the first time, it is fun to see what their reaction is.

Who is your NPC hero and why?

Ajido-Marujido - I like his name and his cockiness actually makes me laugh sometimes. He is just awesome.

If Shantotto was your mom, give a good excuse for coming home 6 hours after curfew.

I was out practicing magic.

Describe your most memorable moment or proudest accomplishment in game.

Most if not all of my in game accomplishments could not have been done without great friends by my side. With the help of my best friend, I was able to break my Quicksilver Gun and obtain Leaden Salute. It took close to 1000 Light skillchains to make it happen since our Nyzul Static's discs are saved up to floor 33 which required 4960 weaponskill points. I had always thought the Critical Hit rate weapons were bad, but after obtaining 4960 points, it made those and the WSNM weapons look easy to break.

What are some things you would change or implement in order to improve Final Fantasy XI?

  • Make clones of Kings in the past. 3 Campaign Ops tags + Key item purchased with 5000 allied notes that allows entry to a special 18 person BCNM. Once inside the BC area, players have 30 minutes to defeat the HNM. Once defeated, a chest appears that has items that it normally would drop (At a reduced rate) + new items and 1 Key item. This Key item when traded on the next run to the BC entrance will garuntee a fight against the HQ version. This gives all players the ability to fight these monsters at full strength (Instead of the weaker Nyzul Counterparts)
  • A change in the battle system to reward teamwork such as giving exp bonuses for completed Skillchains + Magic Bursts

If you were stranded on Purgonorgo Isle what 5 items would you most want to have with you?

  1. Linkpearl
  2. Swimtrunks for Claming
  3. Cookies
  4. Yagudo Drinks
  5. Fishing Pole

How do you describe Final Fantasy XI to your coworkers or computer-illiterate friends?

Final Fantasy XI is an RPG game that allows players from around the world to play togther and do missions/quest/or fight monsters

What is next for you in the world of Final Fantasy XI?

Finish Climbing Nyzul Isle and breaking other Nyzul Isle Weapons
