Weakness (FFXI)

Analysis

Weakness is a harmful status effect that reduces the character's maximum HP and MP significantly (approx 25% of normal maximum), and causes the character to also suffer from a 100% Slow effect (adjusted by Haste from every source other than the spell) until it wears off or is removed.

How to remove the effect

  • Return to your Home Point without recieving a Raise-type spell from another character.
  • The freelancer Ferreous Coffin can remove this effect during Campaign Battles through the use of his Reviviscence ability.
  • Wait 5 minutes (real time, not Vana'diel), after being Raised and it'll wear off naturally.

How the effect is inflicted

  • In most cases, this effect is received by being K.O.'d and then Raised, either by spell or by Reraise effect.
  • Re-entering a Dynamis area during the same time reservation (typically due to leaving the Dynamis area before time expires via Home Pointing after K.O. or using Warp), will cause a character to be afflicted with a significantly more potent form of weakness that lasts for 10 minutes.
  • If a Thief fails a lock-picking attempt on a chest or coffer, a possible penalty can be Weakness, with a duration of up to 60 minutes, rendering them unable to attempt to open chests or coffers while this weakness remains in effect.
  • A Blue Mage will drop to 1 HP and gain Weakness after using the spell Self-Destruct, instead of being K.O.'d.

"Double Weakness"

  • If you are K.O.'d and Raised whilst the character was already weakened, you will be inflicted with a more potent form of weakness.
  • Characters suffer additional penalties whilst under this status. In addition to the reduced HP/MP and Slow effects, Ranged Attack/accuracy and Magic Attack/accuracy will be at their lowest values possible.
