This is not a SAM WS piece. Why:

The first hit of almost every WS is given an unquantified but VERY substantial accuracy bonus (Accuracy+60~ at LEAST). We know this from lots of parsing. If you want to test this for yourself, which we've already had someone do, use a low skill cap weapon and go fight EM steelshells in the boyahda tree. A NIN75 did this with dagger and parsed his accuracy. He used all tanking gear and single wielded, and didn't change gear on WS. He got around 68-69% accuracy, yet over dozens of Wasp Stings (chosen for low damage, single hit nature, and neutrality towards accuracy in the description), he still parsed over 95% WS accuracy (capped).

Comparing this to parses plenty of us have gotten of SAM WS accuracy, the theory is that there is a very substantial accuracy bonus on the first hit of almost any WS (excluding things like Sidewinder), making accuracy in your WS build negligible as in nearly all situations you will have capped WS accuracy.

As for the lack of attack, since the 2 handed weapon update, we've noticed that Y/G/K *ALSO* gets an unquantified pDIF bonus. Our WS averages are much higher than we expect given our attack ratings against merit party mobs, but this damage increase isn't noticeable on level 1 mobs (where attack would be capped anyway) so we've narrowed it down to being simply a boost to pDIF on WS. This is essentially saying that further increasing attack for Y/G/K is much less noticeable. We can't really ignore attack entirely, but attack caps fairly low. More testing needs to be done to help quantify the nature of the attack boost.

This all together is why Osode wins on SAM WSs, regardless of subjob. For everything except maybe byakko, you will be capping accuracy on WS with little effort. Accuracy is a non-factor, and attack is drastically less important than it should be, leaving STR as the far over-reaching modifier for the big three SAM WSs. If you want more information on how we came about getting this information, read through the Samurai forums here.

That all being said, it's still a fantastic TP piece for all of the 4 jobs that can use it.

Kirins is still hands down the best piece for WS...easy enuff to macro in for it. but for in between WSs this piece shines. the STR+8 isnt that great...but the ACC boost is the part that will go well with the Store TP+6...the only other piece that comes close to that much Store TP is Shinimusha Hara-ate...only Shini doesnt have the acc to back it up. to be honest, the best job combo for this piece is sam/war...
great piece

Or you can WS in this peice and keep your 6 hit setup, without sacrificing hands or feet. Askar body does the same thing, but this is like an uber Askar +1

Is this worth the time wasted to get for sams? Please lets not consider the pimping factor here.
I'm gonna put some arguments for each of the 3 most popular subs, and plz someone correct me whenever my logic fails:

SAM/WAR: Looks better for sam/war then for other combos, but still, it misses the +10 att from hauby. For WSs, that +8 Dex seems hot, but you still get 2 extra on both dex and str from Osode.

SAM/RNG: erhmm... sorry, I fail to see any advantage for sam/rng

SAM/THF: Pretty much same argument as used for SAM/WAR, cept that since you don't need the +DEX for SA + WS, even Hachiman could replace this for WS.

I'm not even gonna considere the eva bonus for argument, cuz now with Seigan + Third Eye, we sams should be able to endure the aggro for long enough to either get mob killed, or someone else get the hate. The Store TP on the other hand looks hot, specially cuz we don't get that from hauby. Yet, it's so easy to get +21 store TP that those +6 won't matter at all for us unless we can stack waaaaay more then +21.

Please correct me if i'm wrong, cuz I don't feel like wasting so much time (and gil on meds) to get something that can be replaced by better (or at least matching) stuff

love salvage
# Dec 28 2006 at 1:48 AM Rating: Decent
brrrrr i want to be the 1st ninja to obtain these... i am willing to pull a whole month sicky and setup a linkshell dedicated to assaults and salvage 24/7 for this..

Name is Ladywhite asura server...

this is like being in a **** movie with many guys.....hmm from russia.

I have a mild experience on salvage, i now regret not having enough assault points.. We made it to the 3rd floor... (it might seem hard to get?? but any hard working player will get the best fun they ever had in the game in ages for godly rewards.)

We came across some trolls, (cockroaches types of mobs) u get potion drinks almost everytime... I'd suggest bringing reraise tools, at least until magic ability is unlocked...

Happy hunting guys and have fun

P.s Thank you S.E....

# Dec 22 2006 at 5:52 AM Rating: Decent
I don't get why you complain about this being so hard to get, it SHOULD be that hard to get considering the stats, if SE made everything easy to get, there would be nothing to strive for or work for, and there would be no point to the game, so quit complaining about SE making it hard to obtain items, and go out and work for em. At one point Kirin's Osode was nigh impossible to obtain, and now people are selling em for less than 15mil, i mean, its not as far off as you think it is

Thats my 2 cents

Usukane Haramaki
# Dec 21 2006 at 6:56 PM Rating: Decent
From the looks of things, someone correct me if I'm wrong, There's 3 Salvage drops to reach this form. Lv.15 Hoshikazu Gi: DEX+1, Lv.25 Tsukikazu Togi: DEX+1 ACC+1 and Lv.35 Hikazu Hara-ate: DEX+1 ACC+1 "Store TP"+1. I'm not certin if this is actualy how it happens. But I'm guessing you obtain the 3 Forms off mobs in Salvage and with the items and currency turn them into Usukane Haramaki. This would be the same process of all 5 sets of the new Salvage gear each having 3 peices and currency needed to get the Lv.75 form.

you need 3 different items dropped in salvage and then pay the exorbant amounts of 10-12 gold imperial coins and other various currencies.

they appear to be very hard to obtain. . .

So true ^^ Can't wait to try my hardest to obtain these. The difficulty and the actual reward itself will make this so much more rewarding than if it was easy to obtain
