Historical Information

Morchella, the true morels, is a genus of edible mushrooms closely related to anatomically simpler cup fungi. These distinctive mushrooms appear honeycomb-like in that the upper portion is composed of a network of ridges with pits between them. Morels contain small amounts of toxins that are removed by thorough cooking; morel mushrooms should never be eaten raw. Morille is the French word associated with this form of mushroom.

Mortelle is singular feminine variation of the French word Mortel, which translates to "deadly" or "wicked" (Wicked being used in a slang form).

As such, given their French meanings, Morille Mortelle roughly translates to, "Deadly Mushroom" or "Wicked Mushroom".
