"This fleshy hunter pricketh and transfixeth a thousandfold all that nigheth him by the length of a jousting lance. Unneth they are found in holts and caves for they may not without sun and heat be long kept without corruption. Their utter parts are askew and aslant and therefore they go never forthright, but always sidewise."

Cactuars are deft hunters that attack nearby prey by emitting a barrage of needle-like projectiles from their bodies. They are rarely found in caves or forests, for without the light of sun, they will perish. Their legs are situated in a slanted manner, causing them to run in an awkward sideways fashion.
