With the head, wings and talons of a giant bird of prey and the body of a lion, Griffons appear to be creatures born from the mutating power of Chaos. They are voracious predators, flying out for miles to hunt from their mountain lairs. Despite this, they possess a noble temperament which allows them to be trained as mounts. Emperor Karl Franz rides into battle on his personal pet Griffon named Deathclaw. In The Empire the Griffon is a holy symbol which appears frequently adorning temples dedicated to Sigmar.
