Description

Attohwa, meaning "arid" in ancient Mithran, is the name given to the chasm that traverses the eastern part of Aragoneu. As the name suggests, very little rain falls here, resulting in a parched, broken land where poisonous gases erupt from cracks in the earth.

However, many unique forms of life have adapted to this harsh environment, ranging from the ant lions that forage for prey hiding under the ground, to the beautiful but deadly gasponia flowers that feed on the noxious fumes.

Until recently, several forbidding cliffs had to be scaled in order to reach Attohwa Chasm, but due to the discovery of an underground route by a mountaineer, it is now possible for adventurers to travel to this inhospitable area with relative ease.

According to Mithran folklore, the mountaineer who discovered this route went in search of Parradamo Tor, a hill said to be found somewhere beyond the chasm, and was never heard from again...

Points of Interest

  • At the top of Parradamo Tor lies the Cradle of Rebirth, which must be reached within a specific time limit for a Chains of Promathia mission.
  • The Iolite, which is needed for The Gobbiebag Part VI quest, can only be found from Corse mobs in this chasm.
  • The central area of the chasm is made up of a maze of rock, with certain paths blocked by emissions of black gas.

Map

The Map of Attohwa Chasm is obtained by completing the quest One Good Deed?.

6 dragons
# Dec 08 2004 at 1:06 PM Rating: Decent
If you've downloaded the benchmark 3 and watched the demo you'll see in one of the cutscenes there's bahamut and 6 dragons surrounding him. *hint hint* I'm guessing that means there's only 6 dragons minus bahamut.
I'M LOST!! EVEN WITH THIS MAP!!

Tiamat
# Oct 14 2004 at 8:56 AM Rating: Decent
I accidentally bumped into Tiamat this morning. Big fella that one is. Drew me in when I got too close for a screenshot, but he didn't get the kill. My sneak and invis dropped when this happened of course, and a Cave Antlion used a "Hole Attack" ability, literally jumping out of the ground and hitting me for over 850. I could have taken the hit if I hadn't been poisoned by a few of those trees already. I found Tiamat in the corner up on the hill at E-9. Looks just like Fafnir, except red.

That new NM is one of the very large dragon HNMs that have been spotted in the past few days. So far, I've read about one in King Ranperre's Tomb (Vrtra) and one in Ulgerand Range (Jorgumand). I've also heard speculation that there might be eight total dragons, one for each element.

As for killing Tiamat, I haven't heard of anyone killing it yet, but I have seen pictures of an entire alliance of 75s get decimated by it.

Hope that helped.

its a wyrm, not a dragon

there are 3 of these new wyrm NM found so far, all are stupid high level and supposidly fly so that melee can not attack them.
someone posted that their hnm ls or whatever fought one of them, something like 15 very high lvl rangers fighting it forsomething like 7 hours and couldnt beat it. said they have 50% damage reduction and sick regen rate, and whiped out their whole alliance with a single AoE tp attack except 1 rdm.

A Wyrm IS a dragon. Its an older dragon.

::EDIT:: I'm just going with D&D and stuff like that. As soon as I get the exact numbers, I can say how old a Wyrm is.

Mimeo Stone/Cradle of Rebirth?

DRK68/THF34. The entire west side of the map will own me. All the tracer antlions there are still VT. Also, on the west side of the map there are plants that if you walk near them poison you for 18 HP per tick. Once i got through the map to the east side (the side with Parradom tor) everything was suddenly all too weak to be worthwhile.

I wandered around and finally managed to get right up next to the mountain in the middle. On the way there i picked up a few Mimeo stones from Luminents that you examine. Like stated above the mimeo stones only last for like 5-10 minutes max. After about an hour i made it up to the top of the mountain to find Cradle of Rebirth. From the description you get when examining the Mimeo Stone in your Key item list, it seems you have to take the stone up to the Cradle of Rebirth. But i honestly dont think its possible to get all the way up the mountain in time. Maybe if you got lucky and all the black gas vents were down and you had THF af which increased Flee time + Strider Boots + Those boots that give you Flee per usage. Not to mention the ledges are kind of glitchy and tend to bump you around a lot. I dont think its possible to get that key item up to the top without it going dim and shattering.

Parradamo Tor
# Sep 25 2004 at 3:12 PM Rating: Decent
I saw a Lumicide (like a ??? except named) when I was wandering around Attowha Chasm. Clicked on it, and got a "Mimeo Stone" key item.

I read the decription it went along something like this "The light of the Mimeo Stone shines in direction of the top of Parradamo Tor" and so I went looking for Parradamo Tor.

After about 1 minute or so, I got the message "The Mimeo Stone begins to fade" and gradually it began to fade more with lines such as "The Mimeo Stone's light diminishes" and "The Mimeo Stone's light becomes dim."

This went on for a good 5 min - 10 min and then the item "went dark" and disappeared from my key items.

I wonder if you have to make it to the top of Parradamo Tor and hit the Cradle of Rebirth while this Mimeo Stone is still "lit"

Getting to the top of the mountain is painful especially when you fall off and then realize, some of the dark gas vents actually stop for a few minutes. When I was going up I encountered 2 like this, (one being the last before the summit) so if you seem to be at a dead end on a vent it might be a good idea to wait a couple minutes and have a look around. When you reach the top you'll find yourself looking down into the heart of a volcano, with a targetable point called "Cradle of Rebirth". Unfortunatly when I examined it all I got was "Nothing seems out of the ordinary". Oh well :P

"Cradle of Rebirth" for some reason reminds me of Phoenix...I guess maybe because when you summon him in past FF's, I THINK (I may be wrong..correct me if i am) "Flames of Rebirth" but yeah anyway I got nothing seems out of the ordinary also =\

Its in Port Windurst at the Fishing Guild. Talk to the Tarutaru there for a quest. He'll mention something about proving ownership of the island in Bibiki Bay. Go there and find a ??? (unfortunately I didn't write down the POS) to pop 8 NM mandragoras. A 75 BLM and 60 RDM disposed of these with ease. Things to note: they can be slept, they gain TP while asleep, instantly use "Dream Flower" when they wake up, and the other black mandies around will add.

After you complete the NMs and re-examine the ??? (its once for EVERYONE in the group), you'll receive a keyitem. Go back to the Tarutaru and he'll mention finding a Mithra in this area. The Mithra is found via a cutscene when you enter Boneyard Gully.

Steps to Reach Boneyard Gully:
As a note before continuing, you need Sneak and Poisona for this adventure. You might not die from the Poison the plants in the more difficult area, but you WILL die if you drop in the yellow and aggro the massive amounts of undead that spawn at night (one of which is the new commander of the undead...freaky). Everything on the left hand portion of the map cons decent challenge to tough to a level 75.
1) Proceed to the right hand portion of the map. I don't remember the exact way from the zone, but you cross the chasm once and go up the cave. You should enter around I-9ish.
2) Hug the left wall until you find a cave.
3) Follow the tunnels until you get close to F-7.
This is a very long path but its the safest and easiest way there (the Hecteyes and worms were Too weak to a level 60).
4) Once you get to F-7, everyone must be up Sneak at this point. Hug the right wall and you should find a tunnel behind some rocks near some antlions. This is at F-6. Proceed up the path there and you'll zone into Boneyard Gully and complete the quest. You'll get the map immediately but he quest does not complete until you talk to the Tarutaru again.

well i went in as a 58 nin and i was fine untill i got to the place with the monarch ogerflies and the tracker ant lions. They were IT high eva and def to me too. Also when trying to climb to the top my way was always blocked by these spouts of dark gas. It is kind of like the flame spouts in ifrits but not as big and you can not target them. I never got to the top of the mountain. When i was wandering around the base of the mountain i found a Key item for got its name though. I think you are suposed to bring it to the top of the mountain for the discripion said that the stone glows from the energy atop of paradamo, the light drom the stone fade and then it breaks.

this area is divided into two sides. As a 57 PLD most mobs on the eastern side were too weak and a few EP monsters. the western side was all IT++ mobs

here is a map

it is possible to get to the top of the the pazadamo tor on the east side. there are narrow ledges that wrap around the tor that can be walked on. several of the ramps lead to know where. it is a bit of a maze but on the easten side of the tor one of the ramps will wrap around to the north and by droping off several ledeges to lower ledges and going back and fourth you can reach the top. i am going to make actual directions soon in the future and post them on the page i linked above

I just thought I would offer some info on mobs in the area. I went in and got a sneak peak around (before being brutally slaughtered by a scorpion in 3 hits (~222 per hit..)). Here's some mobs and what they conned to me as a 37THF/18MNK:

Hecteyes: DC
Flesh Eater (a worm): DC (I was also never agroed by one of these guys although I walked right by them a lot)
Tulwar Scorpion: IT w/ high def&eva
Sand Lizard: IT w/ high def&eva
Tracker Antlion: IT w/ high def&eva
Monarch Ogrefly (a fly): IT w/ high def&eva

Jus thought I would give a heads up on what to expect I guess.

When you first enter form the Maze of Shakrami it's just tunnels basically, with the worms and hecteyes being the only things around. The big bad stuff is in the outside, and it's scary :-\ I was poisoned out there from just standing around..."The posion of the Gasponia has begun to spread through your body." That poison ate about 15 HP per tick (I went back done the tunnel again and it wore off after going through half my HP..) Anyways! I'm done! ^_^
