Description

Accessible directly from Northern San d'Oria and Jugner Forest, this area is comprised of a series of unconnected docks providing access to the barge that travels down the Phanauet Channel. While a small zone in area, getting around on the barge can be rather time-consuming. It is best left for players who prefer a scenic route.

For my Final Fantasy XI Timer for Palm http://doconnor.reamined.on.ca/ffxi/ I have figured out the schedule for the Carpenters' Landing barge. The barge runs on a 24 Vana'diel hour schedule and these times hours and minutes of the Vana'diel clock.

South Landing to North Landing:
5:40 boarding
6:30 departure
12:50 arrival

South Landing to Central Landing via Emfea:
13:40 boarding
14:20 departure
18:00 arrival

South Landing to Central Landing via Newtpool:
0:21 boarding
1:00 departure
4:50 arrival

North Landing to Central Landing:
19:00 boarding
19:40 departure
23:30 arrival

**** This information is out of date ****

Since most people seem to be having trouble finding the entrances to Carpenter's Landing in Jugner Forest, I made a quick map:
http://caustin.web1000.com/cl_entrances.jpg

(In case you're wondering, there's no entrance to the North Landing in Jugner. It's in North Sandoria, but you can just take the boat from the South Landing if you want to go there.)

I was farming last night in carpenters landing for the first time there is a tonberry npc on the barge. I was wondering if anyone knows why it is there and if u trade an item to it or have to do something in order to trigger a quest. Thanks any info will do.

The Tonberry is for the Quest "Tea with Tonberries" (might be named slightly different but you get the idea). Beyond that don't know much about the quest at the moment.

if you have bought chains of promathia, and installed it, you also have to register it under the content ID section, the same as you did for the zilart expansion, if you dont have CoP yet then you cant enter any of the new areas.

hope this clears things up
still confused!

This is my new favorite spot to farm in (and i loathe farming).

I'm a 40WhiteMage and i visited here with two friends (a galka 42 White Mage, and a hume 40 Red Mage) the other day. Everything showed up too weak, except for a few lightning elementals which were Easy Prey...but regardless, the three of us took them down no problem.
Unfortunately no one brought hatchets, but in the hour that we wandered around (half heartedly killing things), we each got 5 lightning clusters, some tiger hides, and mushrooms. we gave all the beetle stuff to the galka (he does boneworking) and all the wings to me (i do clothcraft).

I have a buddy who does woodworking. So the plan is to head out there again, but with him in tow in workers gear and he can just log the place to death while the rest of us randomly kill stuff.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Convinient that you can get to it from North Sandy too!

To confirm (since there is contradictory info here) the Carpenter's Landing map is 3000 gil from *Northern* San d'Oria, I-8, by the fountain, Elesca.

Boat

If you go to your map while you're riding the boat, you'll see a slightly different map that gives a somewhat vague depiction of the various routes. Here's a screenshot I took of it:

http://caustin.web1000.com/screenshots/phanauet.jpg

As I understand it, the arrows depict the directions in which people are allowed to ride the boat. If that's true, I've thought it out and this is what the boat's route must be:

1.) Starting in the North Landing (from now on referred to as 'North,' as well as the other two destinations, accordingly), the boat goes to Central. As shown in the picture, people CAN ride this one.

2.) From Central, the boat goes to South. People CANNOT ride this.

3.) From South, the boat goes to Central, taking the western route. People CAN ride this.

4.) From Central, the boat goes to South. People CANNOT ride this.

5.) From South, the boat goes to Central, taking the middle route. People CAN ride this.

6.) From Central, the boat goes to North. People CANNOT ride this.

7.) From North, the boat goes to South. People CANNOT ride this.

8.) From South, the boat goes to North, along the eastern route. After this, the cycle starts over again in North.

To clarify, the boat goes like this:
1.) North >> Central
2.) Central >> South
3.) South >> Central
4.) Central >> South
5.) South >> Central
6.) Central >> North
7.) North >> South
8.) South >> North

-Steps 2 through 5 explain why the boat takes so long to come back to North (up to 30-something minutes). It's because the boat is going back and forth between Central and South to show passengers the various routes.

-Step 7 explains why, after the long wait, the following boat is for arrivals only.

Please note that the above is just a possible explanation for where the boat goes. This was the only logical path that I could come up with, but of course there's always the possibility that I screwed up somewhere, overlooked something, or simply didn't have enough info. Please don't use this to plan any important vacations!

Again, assuming the arrows on the map mean people are only allowed to travel in that direction, here are some basic rules to go by:

-If you're in the North Landing, your only choice will be to go to the Central Landing.
-If you're in the Central Landing, you will not be able to take the boat at all.
-If you're in the South Landing, you can go to any other landing (assuming you take the right boat), but you won't be able to come back.

I hope this helps. And if you see a mistake, by all means, go ahead and point it out.

Depending where you come from yes there is. If you go in from the NSandy zone just retrace your footsteps, If you go in from the norther jugner forest zone I don't think there is any way to sandoria except to exit and go through jugner to the Eastern Jugner zone and take the ferry to North Landing. the ferry takes a very very long time to arrive so either bring fishing equipment or enjoy farming the sabretooths and birdtraps (they are TWTBW and EP to a lvl 44).

Been nancing about in Carpenter's Landing for a while. In addition to the Logging Points listed at the top of this thread, there are two more points i have found at G-6 and F-7, I believe. If you could find a logging buddy to bounce the points back and forth, it could make getting Walnut, Yew, and (occassionally) Oak logs a lot easier, as opposed to Junger, where you have to walk a mile for one logging point.

Also saw Overgrown Ivy. A high lvl RDM was soloing her. Looked like the NPC at H-10 spawned her, cuz from what i could tell, the RDM talked to the NPC, then all of a sudden, Ivy popped. The NPC just told me to bugger off, or something similar. Overgrown Ivy might be a quest NM.

Edit: Oh yeah, and the mobs here vary, as mentioned at the top of the post, according to where you enter. All the mobs at the G-6-7 and G-9-10 areas are Too Weak for me (Lvl 41 Rdm). Forest tigers abound here, so if you farm fangs, this is a great place to do it.

The area at I-10 has mobs from the same families as the other areas, but they're harder (e.g., Sabertooth Tigers instead of Forest Tigers). I would guess the I-10 section is upper 40s.

I haven't been to the area on the second map, but seeing as you enter there from sandy, i'd imagine its low lvl.

Great info! I love to chop teh woodz!!!!

To confirm your guess: The stuff in the 2nd map is very low level. Beady Beetles, Killer Bees, Poison Funguars, Orcish Grunt / Neckchopper / Stonechuncker, Land Pugil, Flytrap.

The North Landing is for arrivals only. You can't take the barge out. It does, however, drop you off here. After a long day of logging and farming in Jugner, this is a really nice way to get home to Sandy.

You can access this area through the "Wooden Shutter" at F-8 (iirc) in N. Sandy.

I'm big into the whole looking at new places thing... I visited Bibiki the first day I got Chains and I loved it... Just last night I went to Carpenter's Landing having heard it was very romantic and stuff (I'm married in game, I took my wife there)... So we went.. it was around 15:00 in game so it was already night... I hated it. It had this greyish, bluish, murky look to it that I didn't agree with at all. We took the boat hoping it'd look better only for my expectations to never be fulfilled. We got to the other side around 01:00 ... still murky and ugly. Reminded me of a drab Jugner. Let's face it, Jugner has streams, waterfalls, and gorgeous ponds (Crystal Lake and Faerie's Lake). I was about to warp when it hit 5:00am... and daylight began to pour through the mountains.. and the fog was lifted.. and my jaw dropped. What I saw then was a spectacular view of the lake/river (which had beautiful ebbing effects paired with multilayered textures which seemed to give the lake a life of its own)... Looking closer, I could see tiny fish swimming in the water whilst in the air I could see birds flying. It was truly magnificant until the rain clouds came rolling gently in around 8:30...

My advise:
If you're going to visit this place, visit it on a clear day, or near dawn... That's just my opinion.

To the south of the Woodworking Guild, look on the map, it's in big red letters. There's a big wooden door. Very convenient if you don't want to walk a ways. Just take the boat from Carpenter's Landing, takes about 13 minutes I believe, but it's a cool trip.

was just in this place, I entered the southern entrance looking at the map. the mobs I saw are:
Diving Beetle (Beetle)
Shrieker (Fungar)
Spunkie (Bomb)
Sabertooth Tiger (Tiger)
Birdtrap (Venus Flytrap thingy)
Wight (Skeleton)
Spinous Pugil (Pugil)

NPCs:
Cofisephe (Elvaan Female, Sells Barge Tickets for 80 gil each)
Anguenet (Elvaan Male, tells you about the barge)
Lourdaude (Tonberry, when I spoke to it all it said was "...")
Chuaie (Female Elvaan, Stands on the end of the dock to tell you when the barge will arive)

I am level 37 and everything I saw was easy prey.

(edit) the Birdtrap used a special move called Gloeosuccus, it doesn't deal any damage and it give the effect of slow.

Orctrap
# Sep 28 2004 at 2:12 PM Rating: Decent
Hey I was killing Birdtraps near I-9 and after about an hour or so Orctrap spawned. I didn't know anything about him except his location. Right by the water in I-9. I killed him easily as a 60 thf/ 30 rng. I counted, he has around 3000 hit points, I cut that down to an immediate 2000 after my Dancing Edge. No item drop whatsoever.
I would say a level 45 or so should be able to handle it no problem. But then again I'm not sure how low to beat him. Hope this helps!

Came here while fishing Moat carp in La Theine/Jugner and decided to see if I could catch anything in the bayou. Level 16 Fishing with a Comp+Fly Lure and I was pulling up these little bugs called Phanauet Newts like crazy. They don't stack and from what I've seen so far they aren't giving any skillups. Hope they sell for something : /. Besides that, this place is pretty sweet. Looks similar to Jugner upon first entering but changes noticeably as you go farther north (I entered via the entrance by Maiden Spring). All mobs were TW to me as a MNK42. A NM did happen to pop right behind me as I was fishing. Luckily a party of lvl 75ers took it out relatively easily..it was a NM Ochu called "Overgrown Ivy". Ok..back to exploring this place. Happy Hunting!

I was so worried that Chains of Promethia would have areas mostly catered to high leveled players, but I am relieved to find that the monsters here are too weak for my lvl 40 THF.

Very nice place, it'd be a great place to fish, if I knew what levels the fish were, and what the best bait and rods to use.

What's also interesting, is at H-10, in the southern area of the Central Landing cluster of areas, is an owl that sits motionless on a very dilapitated tree standing just offshore.

The common rain showers must be perfect for fishers.

Though, I was thinking, if there are so many twisting rivers in this place, why didn't SE create a new 'canoe' or 'rowboat' feature to let you explore this extensive river system of this area?
