Description

Wooden bridges and walkways connect this network of caves deep between Gusgen Mines and South Gustaberg. Oldton Movalpolos is home to moblins, close relatives of the goblins. Unlike their cousins, moblins tend to roam together in groups, making them even more dangerous toward adventurers who stray too near. Of all the realms of Vana'diel, Movalpolos is the lone region that is almost never controlled by Windurst, Bastok or San d'Oria.

Adventurers brave enough to mine in the moblins' home could be rewarded with gold, darksteel and even platinum.

The moblins themselves seem to be digging... but for what, nobody knows...

Points of Interest

  • Traveling through unmarked exits on this map lead to Newton Movalpolos.
  • Escaping from this zone is the fastest way to North Gustaberg.
  • The Goblin Wolfman, which drops the Parade Gorget, is spawned at H-10, G-13 and I-11.
  • The entrance to this zone is a great place for mid-level players to solo with NPC fellows.
  • Miners will find little competition in this zone.

The Map of Oldton Movalpolos can be obtained from chests in this zone.

Anyone know anything about the sylvan stone that Twinkbrix asks for near the Gustaberg entrance (E-13)?

The purpose of the Sylvan Stone is to access the lvl 75 ENM @ Mine Shaft #2716.

They are dropped off of Bugbears and Gob Swordsman in Newtown. (Very common drop too.)

Treasure Chests
# Dec 17 2004 at 6:24 PM Rating: Excellent
I found a Treasure Chest in here today just out of my reach, and I also recently acquired a key off one of the Bugbears. I couldn't leave that Chest just sitting there, so I spent the better part of the day figuring out how to get there. All the information you need has already been posted here but nobody seems to have connected the dots yet. Anyways, here's how to get the 2 Treasure Chests on the upper platforms in K-10.

1. Equip yourself (or bring a friend) with a job that will allow you to escape/warp/teleport out of the mines relatively quickly.

2. Buy 1 or 2 Jars of Firesand (Alchemy) and Prisim/Sneak items if you cannot cast Invis/Sneak.

3. Head to K-10 and check where the Treasure Chest is. If the Chest is on the south platform, head to the Newton Movapolos zone at J-12. If it is on the north platform, head to the Newton zone at J-8.

4a. (J-12 zone) Hug the wall to your left. Use invis as necessary to avoid aggro. Eventually you should rezone into Oldton Movapolos right at the south platform. If at F-10 in Newton you run into a gate blocking your way, skip to #5 to read how to open it.

4b. (J-8 zone) Hug the wall to your right. Use invis as necessary and sneak to get past the short tunnel with Dire Bats. Eventually you should rezone into Oldton Movapolos right at the north platform. If at E-7 in Newton you run into a gate blocking your way, skip to #5 to read how to open it.

5. Rotating the gates- Here is where some people get confused. If there is a gate blocking your way to the Oldton zone, you need to rotate the gate to allow you passage. This is accomplished by zoning into Newton Movapolos at J-8 and following the path (only 1 way to go) to F-6. Here you will see a Furnace Hatch on the south side of the platform. You must trade 1 Firesand to the Furnace to rotate the platforms. This can be very tricky because of the high level mobs patrolling the entire platform. Only choice is to bring a group to kill them or drop invis, trade item, and reinvis as fast as you can.

At this point the way you came from is now blocked. To get back to Oldton without an escape of some kind is incredibly dangerous and impractical. Just get a friend to come with and get you out. When you trade the Firesand both the F-10 and the E/F-7 gates will rotate 1/4 turn, allowing you passage from either J-8 or J-12 of Oldton to the treasure chest areas.

Hope this helps some of you out!

because after approx. the rating is more or less applied to parties. So easy prey, means easy prey for a party of 6.
At your level, getting aggro from an easy prey usually means either a close call or death.

Job/subjob also has a lot to say when facing easy prey mobs. As lvl 58 RDM/BLM I'm soloing [Decent Challenge] Cryptonberries in Pso'Xja, and I doubt many other jobs (if any) can compete with that. (Cryptonberries are tonberries without Everybody's Grudge.)

I got the Oldton Chest Key off of a Moblin Rodman (with my 57 THF friend helping, I can't solo them as a 47 RDM), and then I went looking for the chest and my friend left, I found the chest in K-11 but I can't figure out how to get close enough to it to open it, it is up on a raise platform with no connections to any lower ones, never got to look for very long though because I kept getting aggroed by mobs when invisible wore off, died like 3 times and leveled down. anyone know how to get up to the raised platform in K-11?

You need to go through Newton Movalpolos in order to get to K11. The zone to Newton Movalpolos is at J12. Just keep following the left side to zone back in to Oldton. You will need to cast Invisible or use powder when going through Newton Movalpolos. Mobs there are still EP to me (at level 74).

I went there today (level 54 Blm. also went with a level 54 Bst) and we noticed something really odd. It seems that moblins didn't aggro us, goblins did aggro, and the bugbears would aggro everyone once in a while. one Easy prey wouldn't aggro...but the easy prey next to it WOULD. i;ll get more info next time i go. btw...DO NOT PLAY WITH THE BUGBEAR TRASHMEN IN NEWTONMOVLOPOS.

I spent quite a bit of time in there in this weekend. By the way, the Moblin Ashman (which drops the Hotrok) also can drop a chest key. After I got the map, I opened another chest and got 4640 gil. I have beated the Ashman 3 times and got a chest key and nothing (but some gil) twice.

Umm, if it /check as DC then its DC not sure how or why you could could consider them |Too Weak| perhaps the person on your LS is comparing to what 'THEY' /checked the mob at. either way, go with what it says for you since it relates to your current equipement configuration.

{too weak...} through {incredibly tough} are rated strictly against your job level, regardless of job. A WHM is going to have a lot more trouble solo-ing an ep than a NIN would, but the mob will con the same to both at the same level.

High or low DEF or EVA con off your ACC and ATK, so these will change with your gear.

If you go in the eastern entrance of the two, there will be a Goblin NPC who will give you the same speech about "Taking unused equipment to help your country's influence..." He's standing on the left of the catwalk as you enter. Directly across from him on the right side of the catwalk is a large flag of the controlling nation. It's hanging banner style from a pole.

There is not, however, a "R.K., I.M., or W.W." NPC. As it's these NPC's that accept the supplies, there's no way you can deliver them. This means: No teleports, Signets, or Home Points for this area.

I haven't been to Tavnazia yet, but when Sandy did control it, I couldn't log a supply quest there either. Considering the "Swirling Vortexes" are both in areas which do have an available outpost teleport, I'm going to assume there's a similar lack of national representatives in Tavnazia as well.

RE: Supply run?
# Dec 18 2006 at 11:10 PM Rating: Decent
Most likely known, but there IS a WW, IM, or TK in Lufaise Meadows, and you CAN do a supply run there. The reason you might not be able to is because you have to reach a certain point in the CoP missions before this option becomes available.

I can't quote the exact mission, but storyline-wise, it's when Jeuno and the other kingdoms become aware of the Tavnazian Stronghold, and Jeuno decides to offer aid. This is also when several of the merchants open their doors, the auction house becomes available, and other merchants change their inventory.

I gained aggro somewhere in there as a 56 whm, so keep sneak/invisi up when you get further in, especially when you see odd groupings of the moblins. Being a whm, I crumpled pretty hard, but they were still conning EP to me...

There are also mining points in this area, so I think I will return to test that out, but does anyone know where to get a map?
RE: Level's

At 61 the Goblin's leading the pack's of Moblins in the area of I-10/I-11/J-10/J-11 are EP--. Nothing will aggro passed 57 or 58 - even in the last area before the Mine Shaft zone, where Moblin Ashman are, and a few NPC Goblins.
I'm not so sure about going all the way through at level 50 and not getting aggro. I don't think kpax actually went all the way through.

You may have noticed that there are alot of areas that have odd looking dead ends and stuff like you saw in North Gustaberg. Almost all the areas were made with something like that in mind, even the new areas just added. Go to Bibiki Bay and go to the far NorthWest corner and you will walk into a cave that.....you guessed it.....just ends in blackness. There are lots of areas that have this, as preparation for expansion.

Found an NM that spawns at I-11, Bugbear Strongman. We had a 39WHM, 50RDM, and 58RDM take it, wasn't bad, I'd say it was about level 40-45. Don't know what it drops, it just gave us lightning crystals. As for keys, Bugbear Bondman, Goblin Gasman, and Ancient Bombs drop them as far as I know. I am thinking that everything in that one room from I-10, I-11, J-10, J-11 drops keys, my best guess, because all those nasty goblins and moblins spawn five at a time >.<
