Description

Wooden bridges and walkways connect this network of caves deep between Gusgen Mines and South Gustaberg. Oldton Movalpolos is home to moblins, close relatives of the goblins. Unlike their cousins, moblins tend to roam together in groups, making them even more dangerous toward adventurers who stray too near. Of all the realms of Vana'diel, Movalpolos is the lone region that is almost never controlled by Windurst, Bastok or San d'Oria.

Adventurers brave enough to mine in the moblins' home could be rewarded with gold, darksteel and even platinum.

The moblins themselves seem to be digging... but for what, nobody knows...

Points of Interest

  • Traveling through unmarked exits on this map lead to Newton Movalpolos.
  • Escaping from this zone is the fastest way to North Gustaberg.
  • The Goblin Wolfman, which drops the Parade Gorget, is spawned at H-10, G-13 and I-11.
  • The entrance to this zone is a great place for mid-level players to solo with NPC fellows.
  • Miners will find little competition in this zone.

The Map of Oldton Movalpolos can be obtained from chests in this zone.

Info On Moval I Found

- You can get chest keys also off the Moblin Coalman as well as the Goblin Oilman and they drop rather frequently...

- I am level 61, and everything there is Too Weak/High Defense, but it doesnt mean you're safe either if you go it alone.

You see, these Moblins/Goblins/Bugbears have the tendency to want to help their friends a bit too much, and for a soloing taru black mage looking for Moblin Thread (8.5k at the AH), well.... It can be a bit difficult. Theres hardly any rest areas around, so keep that in mind.

Oh, now i realize where the entrance is. A long time ago, probably a month or two before I had even heard news of the expansion, I was cruisin along in North Gustaberg, leveling something, when I saw a cave. The cave just ended in blackness and I thought it was weird. I guess they were preparing for the expansion for a while.
A Useful Shortcut!

So a Japanese WHM friend of mine discovered a useful shortcut to Palborough mines with this.

1. Teleport Dem
2. Enter Gusgen
3. Enter Oldton Movalpolos from Gusgen (quick)
4. Cast Escape

You're now in North Gustaberg, near Palborough Mines!

I can confirm that this also connects to Gusgen Mines at some point, because I went in Gusgen, took a right turn and went down a tunnel that Pre-expansion was blocked off by rocks, zoned into here.

Frypan

One new move, Frypan, haha he actually hit you with a gigantic frying pan! Or, maybe it's sonic damage because the goblin/moblin that does it smacks the pan sevral times with some steel object
The bridge and a NM

For the levers you need 3 people to pull all of them at once, which when me and 2 other guys did this about 30 people ran across. The bridge leads to a part of Newton which probally goes to the Mine Shaft #25674 or whatever number.

Also some high level japanese players spawned a NM form one of the NPC goblins, I was unable to get a screenshot off in time because the killed it so quickly. But it spawned from the goblin that speaks giberish.

Also in newton past the bridge there are Treasure Coffers, as I died from a mimic after using about 7 skeleton keys.

Probably my favorite new zone so far. Platforms everywhere, gobs of every shape, size, and color, with NEW MOVES (yes, they aren't just pallette swaps!), music is incredible... just be warned it isn't an easy zone. When I saw the first floor of gobs was too weak, I got a little carried away in my explorations. Went up a floor, and aggroed about 4 very cool looking gobs (LOVED that red armor one!) who turned me into a very cool pile of Taru paste. :)

Has anyone figured out how to get to all three rusty levers in the chamber with the NPC goblins? If you watch carefully, each time a lever is pulled, gates swing up from the bottom room to create a makeshift bridge across the top gap. Just curious what's beyond there... hope it's not more Newton Movalpolos- mobs there conned DC to the level 69 RDM I was with ^^
Magicked Steel Ingot

the Magicked Steel Ingot is used for a new quest in Windurst Waters

Quest: Tuning In
Client: Leepe-Hoppe (on top of Rhinostery, Windurst Waters)
He needs you to give him three items, one of them being a magicked steel ingot. another item was a old file. cant remember what the third item was

p.s. a cool character is seen in the cutscene, dont know if they're new or not, and the cutscene itself is fairly humorous

another quest that involves Oldton:

Quest: Out of the Depths
Client: Ayame (Bastok Metalworks, Northern Cannonry)
then talk to a taru named Ravorara standing in front of the Steamiong Sheep Inn in Port Bastok. Tells you to get items from Molvapolos through negotiation.(i.e. trade with npcs)

found 3 moblins npcs in area K-10
Brakobrik was the only one to talk to me, agree with him and he'll ask for 4 pinches of hoary bomb ash. this drops of of ancient bombs here. i fought two and each dropped two ashes. traded them to Brakobrik and he gave me a key item: a peeling hairpin. Brakobrik still asks for more ash but i got tired. the other moblins still wouldnt talk to me.
went back to the taru and he gave me 400gil for the key item. seems like one of those repeatable quests/l shou where different npcs will ask for different items, with more difficult items netting larger rewards

Got mine off the 3rd Ancient bomb i fought (for quest). That one also did a WS which can't be blinked and causes burn status. This is NASTY. It takes off 11 HP per tick. It eventually did over 600 dmg and killed me.

Agreed.. this is not a city in the sense of Sandy, windy ect... It should be classified as a dungeon.

I also took a bunch of screens of varios mobs and have sent them in.

I also saw both earth and lightning elementals floating around. Mining points were scattered for al you miners out there.

All in all, this area was much more enjoyable than Carpenters Landing.. all thats left to check out is Bikiki Bay and the Tav(something or other) area.

Well, not sure, but my guess is that it comes from a treasure coffer in this area. I know that oldton Movopolis has treasure chests while newton Movopolis has treasure coffers. The chest keys dropped pretty easily last night as we were a party of 4 and in about 2 hours got 6 key drops. My guess is that it either comes from a chest in this area or a coffer. Also, just so you guys know, the mobs in Newton Movopolis con IT++ to a level 62 BLM in my party

I just got the chest (not coffer) in Oldton... received the map.
Key item "a map of Oldton Movalpolos"

The chest was right next to Brakobrik (NPC) @ K-11

Yes, it is a Moblin City. However, that by no means means you're safe from being attacked. You CAN be attacked here. As a level 43mnk/21thf, I attacked an EP goblin craftsman or something like that and it was a close fight, but he came out on top and I died. That ended my little expedition into the Movopolis.

If you just go into Gusgen Mines from Konschtat Highlands and take a right then another right you will be in Oldton Movalpolos.

And - as a side note - if you Escape from anyplace inside Oldton Movalpolos you will pop out in east N. Gustaberg - very near Palborough Mines (quick and easy shortcut for BCNM runs).

Hmm, I think classifying this area as a city is slightly off. I mean it is a goblin city but I suspect there'll be many friendly NPC's here.
