Flawless win

Went in with 2 war/nin, rng/nin, pld/war, blm/whm, whm/blm... just like a regular exp pt. Used 3 anima and the NM was pretty much intimidated the majority of the battle. We also got lucky that it didn't decide to spam it's AoE poison skill. Biggest tip I can give is bring anima. They're worth the time spent farming them, as they can be the difference between an easy victory and a sour defeat. It is possible without Anima (did it once a long time ago before we figured out the anima)... just pretty hard, and with a few deaths.
How to win.

Me and a pt did this just the other day, not one of us died against the NM at the top.

PT Setup
SMN/Whm
SMN/Whm
Nin/War
Drg/War
Whm/Blm
Blm/Whm

The setup matters little as in what actual jobs you have, the ideal way to do it is a WHM, 2 tanks, and 3 DD. If you have that, you should be good.

Before ever doing this you should farm for Anima. Mainly Hysteroanima and Terroanima. You don't really need Psychoanima because all this does is stop it's physical attacks, which don't do much anyway. The thing you have to worry about with him is "Throat Stab". A WS that is stopped with Hysteroanima.

When you reach the spire, that's up to you, go in to the waiting room and heal up. Don't worry about protections as they fall off when you go in anyway. Before going in, try to set up a game plan for the fight, this is the one we used..

1. 1st Tank goes in and grabs hate.
2. 1st SMN uses Anima against NM
3. Both SMN summon pets (Make sure to find out the NMs element and get the opposing element. The element is told by the color of the lights.)
4. Both SMN use Astral Flow.
5. 2nd SMN uses both Anima.
6. 1st Tank (war) Uses Mighty Strikes.
7. Blm Uses 2hr.
8. Drg uses anima.
9. Around this time both smn will have Blood Pact back. So use Astral flows again.
10. Blm nuke it to death.

We didn't even use all our anima, or our final ***. It was peice of cake.

Good luck everyone.

Did this with 5 other people from my LS...two of us almost died, but aha! I survived by 2 hp and our WHM was quick. And the melee and my nukes did their job.

We all brought 2-3 animas. We went by the order in which they fall in our inventory. We only got into the second round of throwing them.

Party setup (at least I recall we farmed like this -- except the whm who had his animas already -- and I'm fairly sure we took the same jobs in):
RDM/BLM
WHM/BLM
BLM/WHM (me)
PLD/WAR
PLD/WAR
RNG/NIN

We went in, buffed up, rested up, mages and plds slugged down yagudo drinks and ate foods (melon pies for rdm and blm, meat dishes for melee, I think whm had mushroom risotto)...went in

1st PLD threw the first anima and got hate...
I start pelting out frost and nukes, using elemental seal to stick frost
The RDM enfeebs and also nukes (I noticed)
WHM and PLDs keep themselves alive.

We keep throwing animas at it...I think we used about 8 of them...maybe more. Psycho first.

It got its special attack off a couple times when animas wore off...once leaving my blm with 2 HP. I came the closest to dying of any of us. When I got up against a wall and cast on it, it didn't manage to hurt me that badly again.

WHM 2hred...the rest of us didn't need to (one of the PLD may have though), by then it was almost dead (I was prepared to 2hr if it hadn't been though). WHM threw out his two last animas (he had 3 to begin) and we killed it (by this time I was on my third yagudo drink, as a blm you have to keep an eye on those wearing).

No one died and the nearest we came to a fatality (me) was my fault for not listening (it was my first promy).

I did all 3 Prommy's a while ago so I don't remember the exact setup. I can tell you what was "different" was that we have 2 beastmaster in our party. I almost left when I did my member serach but the 2 beastmasters are my in game friends.

Most likely she said, "Wanna help me do prommy's?"

Me "Ok"

So yes, the BST part shocked me. Anyway off we go. Totally fun and surprisingly easy. Don't know if anyone has taken BST along for this.

a weird *** PT pwnd the hell out of it.

BLM/WHM (me)
WAR/NIN
WAR/NIN
PLD/WAR
SMN/WHM
WHM/BLM

I navigated to MRs via the webmap.
We only had 3 anima... and my battleplan was weird as hell

Get it down to 75%, use my Terroanima, then the PLD use invincible, then the SMN bust off his 3x Judgementbolts, after the second judgement bold.. the WAR hit his 2hour, then i think the other WAR hit his... to take some heat off the SMN, We were never in any danger. the other 2 anima were used randomly i think hysteroanima and somethin else

i posted in the delver part too by accident ; ;

Wow! This was a really easy spire to get to. The end boss uses an AoE damage attack and one that will pretty much kill one person if it hits.

My pt setup was as follows
BST/WHM
SMN/WHM
BLM/WHM
WHM/BLM
WAR/NIN
WAR/NIN

Pretty easy fight until one person forgot anima and one of the Warriors got toasted. We got him down to a sliver but because everyone in the pt didn't bring an anima, he managed to hit us with three TP attacks and we wiped.

We're gonna try again in a couple of days but this should be a seriously easy fight for a prepared party. Animas, Yag Drinks, Au Laits are all pretty much a must if you want it to be easy. Pots and ethers help too but I never had to use mine.

Good luck to anyone that tries. This is way easier than Holla >.<

well our pt of 6 was pwned by this guy ; ; hell broke loose @ spire, we caught hellacious aggro from emptys on 3rd floor, 1 pt member died as we zoned to spire, so we had to wait 20-30 for the mass amt of emptys to leave zone so we could tractor & raise. bah! Fight was disgustingly painful. XD most of the party used their 2hr (I really wish the PLD used his 2hr...) Oh well, theres always next saturday. Oh yeah, fight is like normal BCNMs I think you can only take 6 ppl into the fight.

My Ls friends and i decided to do this promovon today, and,it it was a semi-dissastor. The party make up was:

Rdm/Blm(me)
Oblivionn,war/nin
Bobwtfps,war/nin
Porfiro,Whm/blm
Thumblina,Blm/whm
Hairy,Sam/war
-------------------------------------------------

Every thing proceded smothely on the 1st floor, took 3 min to get to the next floor, 5 min on the sec, with the exeption of a T arrgo, took 1min to kill, and on the 3rd floor, everythink went wrong. We ran,got surronded, paused for 10 min. than,we moved again, and than paused. happened about 5 times, and then we got arrgo. our war provoked, and heled the dam,but we were unable to seriousally damage the mob. so,after 5 min,our tanks died. than the Blm, and sam died. so i ran away, while our whm died, and i saw a memory stream, and it was active.so,i ran into it,and it lead to the 1st floor, right next to the zone. And so,i was the sole surviver of the party. Maby next time

YOU DO NOT NEED AN ALLIANCE TO GET TO THE SPIRE!

I just went through the whole thing with just six party members and t went w/o a hitch....except when th JP ranger ran off away from the party caught agro and got killed, still i was kinda like, wth?! Anyway all you have to do is stay in a group and DO NOT FIGHT UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTLEY HAVE TO! We only fought one empty on the third level because we had to get to the MR, besides that it was just strays and MR. Once you get to the fourth level just run like hell, you can zone into the spire and your good.

Once we got to the Spire...things went south. I had no items having traded them to a ??? in La Theine that had asked me for everything in my bag, i proceded to trade it all the items i did not have equiped included all my shehei >.< i want to know what the hell that freakin thing does if it spawns something i swear i will kill it HARDCORE. Anyway i got a mithkebob and we all zoned it. I 2-houred and immediatly began to miss as always happens, i would suggest Sole Sushi if you can afford it to all Elvaans. Anyway SMN two houred whm two houred rng two houred apparently the SAM two houred but i dint see it. the blm i dont know if he did but we just didnt have ehough juice to kill the thing, plus the SMN only got off one astral flow. anyway yeah thats my story but you don't need an alliance just a single well setup pt.
btw mine was:
Whm/blm
Blm/whm
Smn/rdm (i dont know)
Sam/war
Rng/nin
War/nin (me)

so yeah it was fun and didnt take as long, nor was it as dificult as i thought, i was all geared up for hell but this was more just kinda purgatory.

Just out of curiousty, has anyone tried doing the Promy's with an alliance of 12? The way people discribe the difficulty of the NM at the top it sounds like that might have been how it was supposed to be done.

Note: I haven't gotten to the NM at any of the promy's yet, just asking if anyone's tried it ~.^

Yeah, I did Prom-Dem with an alliance of 12. The boss is a BCNM, so it doesnt help there, and the group was bulky and hard to manage, but it allowed more people to get it done with more balanced parties... and the receptacles may as well have not even been there :) But when most of us died, it made it quite a chore for the WHM to raise us all.

completed this last night, set the server record on Diabolos of 7:12. not sure how that's a record, but whatever :P 4 of us had full anima, other 2 had a terro. pt makeup was as follows:

nahks SMN/WHM
fndragon SMN/WHM
loqiel RNG/NIN
teyal WHM/BLM
zeriel THF/NIN
charrill BRD/WHM

RNG pulled Delver, THF got behind it and SAd for hate, then THF and RNG kited it around while summons and the person not kiting did damage.
at around 70 percent both SMNs Astral Flow'd Ramuh; we started burning anima and stopped kiting at 50 percent. we only went through 3 sets of hystero/psycho, 2x Judgement Bolt from each SMN and an EES and it was dead. BRD kept Ballad up and was a nice boost for the mp chuckers.

in retrospect i wish we'd had another bonafide DD, such as a MNK for Hundred Fists, but when you have people from linkshell that need to complete the Proms, you take what you can get. ^^ overall we did well, weren't in trouble ever really. Delver seems weak to lightning.

Following on from the last post, my team set the record on Laksmi, I think the time was 3.57, but I could be wrong. Only beat the previous time by 5 seconds, but this did include the time standing there and finalising the strategy.

I've since done Holla as well, and got Tavnazia access, yay.

Only tips would be - remember your items! Key to sucess on the NM... Not so important on this one as on Holla, but you should try to have at least one anima for each party member. Mages should have Ethers and Yagudo drinks. Don't go without them. Ok, so you -can- do it without them, but it's alot harder, and really not worth it when you could take the time to prepare. Go in with some friends and farm recollections on the bottom level, then trade them for animas.

Gotta say, it's definately worth it for Tavnazia access and the next chapter.
Bragging Rights
# Mar 17 2005 at 2:36 AM Rating: Decent
Ok just wanted to cheer on my team a bit.... tonight on Cerebrus server the following party set the Promy Mea record (included jobs) of 3 minutes, 49 seconds beating the previous record by over 30 seconds ^-^

Jaiden - WHM/BLM
Trillex - WAR/MNK
Gregory - SMN/BLM
Oblivion - SMN/WHM
Futtch - RNG/NIN
Dotrele - RNG/NIN

The stradegy went as follows... WHM used a poison potion to prevent sleep. No buffs as this mob likes to steal them. WAR kited mob with voke. RNGs and SMNs wacked the hell out of it while keeping a safe distance from the mob. SMN gave a shout before blood pacts so that we could stop the kiting.

At 50% health, everyone 2 houred and we tossed 3 animas at it.

BAM! Dead!

RE: Bragging Rights
# Mar 21 2005 at 3:57 AM Rating: Decent
Mea boss does not steal buffs. Only the Holla boss does. It does not use AOE sleep either. The Mea boss uses AOE poison that is about 10-20 damage per tick.

My Promyvion fun!

Well, until recently I had never attempted to do a Promyvion, it was on my 'to be done pile'. However last night the call went around my linkshell for an ENM fight, (not the mission boss), so I decided to take it up - I'd been 45 minutes or so looking for a party and just teleporting, so I thought it would be fun. Originally I intended to go as a WHM, but the party already had one so I switched to SMN.

Off we went, and it was a little confusing at first but we had an excellent party leader, so they kindly explained what would occur and how to deal with problems. This is a key requirement of the Promyvions - you must LISTEN to your party leader and STAY TOGETHER.

We decided to do Holla, so we entered, and had a few minutes waiting for people to return from being away just getting used to the place. To cut a long story short, we were doing fine until we were just outside the Spire... we picked up a double Weeper link, slept one, but then someone hit it... Memory of Fire went off a couple of times so we were looking bad HP-wise but I think we could have either run to the Spire (which our leader was shouting!) or won, but unfortunately our WHM used Benediction... we ran to the Spire but she was dead. So, we were a person down for the ENM fight, and we were a little worried.

Just to clarify, our setup was :

SMN/WHM
SMN/WHM
WHM/SMN
RNG/THF
BRD/WHM
PLD/WAR

Obviously for the last fight we were down a WHM/SMN. Upon entering, our party leader called Ice! so the BRD used the correct Threnody, SMNs called Shiva and the PLD provoked. First two Diamond Dusts did ~450 and 1014 (!!) damage each which was nice. The ENM used its sleepaga move though, which slept the PLD and we didn't realise... the RNG used his 2hour and promptly pulled hate and died because the PLD was asleep and was going to use his own 2 hour move. Other than that, we used our 2nd Flows and it was all over, quite easy for me as one of the SMNs.

At the end, we beat the record on Fairy, then a few hours later we fought the Mea ENM and beat the record there also. So all in all, a successful first couple of runs! ^^

Syldis

Edit: The PLD was asleep, not dead... >.<

That guide below is pretty funny.

I just completed this for the third time:

Party was:
war/nin (me)
war/thf
rng/nin
sam/war
whm/blm
rdm/blm

Any standard party configuration can beat this with proper preparation. You need to have anima, at least psycho and hystero. I also take a good au lait, an icarus wing, and 2 potions.

I psycho anima at about 75%. then continue animas after that.

Wars 2hr at 50%, do sturmwind, icarus wing, sturmwind again. Sam 2hrs then rng finishes it off with piercing arrow.

You can go as any job that you like, I have gone with drk, mnk, whatever. Just be prepared.

If you are on sylph, and you need help with these, just send me a tell. No job discrimination here. ^^

I go as a SMN/BLM.

The battle goes something like this:

1. Summon (whatever the boss is weak too)
2. Nuke. Just to do as much DMG as possible with your MP while you still have it.
After the Mob gets to 75% or i have used more then half my MP...
3. Yagudo Drink
4. Astral Flow Bloodpact ability
5. Ether
6. Re-cast dead Avatar
Repeat 4-6 as needed.

I rarely get off my 3rd Astral, and if i do, it kills it.

Parsers run me at more then 1500 dmg each fight, but unfortunatly, unlike RNG, I cant repeat this for another 2 hours.

On the way up, /whm is much better, there are more opertunities to cure. In the fight however, your job is to cause pain, and /blm does it best.

I'm also told (and perhaps its just a myth) that INT increases your bloodpact damage, and Astral Flow abilities are Bloodpacts. I Dont see a major increase when I use Astral Flow though, Its usually more then 450 DMG each.

Hope that helps anyone who's thinking of subbing BLM for their summoner, and anyone else who might wonder why we do it.

I've done all my Promvions now, but i still find them fun, send me a /tell on Gilgamesh if you want/need some help for this.

I like this qoute. This means Drks are more useless then Drgs. So being the Drg that I am this is good lol. I have nothing aganist Drks I just find it funny that Drg ranked higher then Drk considering Drgs are seen to be the bottom rang in this game.

It is guides like this that cause more problems then good because now any idiot that sees this guide will think you need that party set up to do the promies. I did all 3 of the promies with a team of:
Pld/War Drg/War Whm/Blm Rng/??? Blm/Whm Blm/Whm
The most change was the Rng sub was different and in one we had a Smn/Whm instead of a Blm/whm. The Rng was more for finding the MR in the promies, and at that I think we only used our 2 hrs in the pt with the Smn otherwise I don't believe we use 2 hrs.

People need to stop being so obssessed over "Blink Tanking" Becuase without utesumi: ichi or ni we arnt worth crap and get tossed. so dont give me hell that paladins dont do crap in promyvion becuase that just isnt true.

The way to access these areas (once you have seen the cutscenes in Jeuno/Qufim and talked to everyone thus getting quests) is through the shattered telepoints at each Crag. Just thought I'd add this as a couple of people have asked.

Issue with mission
# Feb 27 2005 at 11:32 AM Rating: Decent
One important thing you need to know about this promy mission. While an alliance can go in, only a party of 6 can fight the NM! So if you take an alliance you must make sure that all 3 parties are viable on their own because whether each wins or loses, they get dumped outside the krag & would have to make it back up all 4 levels to help any other alliance members do it again. Also a large alliance only means that more ppl will catch aggro and in the higher levels you do NOT want that. Even an alliance will be wiped out by aggro on the top floor. Best to just go with one stacked party & stick close together. Also all the empties have true sight so sneak invis & deoderize wont work. Good luck :-p
