Description

In order to bring in ordinary sightseers, the Fishermen's Guild gained permission to land on the beautiful beaches of Purgonorgo Isle. This island, in the middle of the Bibiki Bay, is accessible only via the Manaclipper or through the enchantment on body pieces obtained during Sunbreeze Festivals. Many of the bounties of aquaculture remained untouched.

I clammed a suit of Goblin Mail, and it weighed less than 11 ponzes - not sure how much less, because my pail broke, but I find it amusing that a suid of mail weighs less than a pebble.

i am that little Taru blm that apparntly watched another member die of poison, out of the darkness of my heart.

I WOULD NEVER KNOWINGLY LET ANYONE DIE OF POISON! The fact that you so quickly insult others is an indication that you jump to conclusions.

What happend? Im not sure. Its possible that i was AFK , which is something I do very often on purgo island. Personaly, I remember casting raise on a fellow at the docks, once after comming back from akf durring a shipride. Was that you?

In truth you were illprepared farmer and the funny irony is this; there is a NPC that sells remedy behind the bush next to the dock for 500 gil.

This "stupid taru" goes far beyond the norm when it comes to in game philanthropy so please put the blame on the correct individual here and stop spreading hate.

Go to Bikini Bay, erm...I meant Bibiki Bay, and go to the mana clipper docks. Buy mana clipper tickets and board the mana clipper to Porno Island, erm...Purgonorgo Island. You should be at least lvl 50 if you want to kill anything, and good luck at that. Bibiki Bay is one zone over from the Crag of Mea zone I think.

I just went to Bibiki Bay as a level 32-33 pt.

IT WAS GREAT.

Lots of mobs to fight, no pts, no trains, mandys are not nearly as strong as the mobs in Garlaige Citadel, no farmers, and no one using them to skill up. I can't see why people don't come here, it's much better then anywhere else.

(camp was at I-8)

It's a good place to xp, and very nice to look at, but prohibitive to get to. If you get to the manaclipper dock at the wrong time, you have to wait 20-25 minutes for the next boat to purgonorgo, as the boat also make 1 or 2 other trips on different routes.

About that Warmachine NPC
# Jul 29 2005 at 10:45 PM Rating: Decent
There is a purpose to that weird Warmachine NPC on the Isle. First, talk to the warmachine NPC near the south of the Island. Then go to (H-9) and click on the ???. Several mandies called Perifools will pop. I got owned alone as 67 mnk/blm (blm sub for the warp back home from clamming), but with a 63 thf/nin and 54 whm/blm joining me, beat them easy enough (BTW i did elemental seal and sleepga XD). After they are defeated, click on ??? again, and Warmachine will give you "Key-item: Deed to Purgonorgo Isle. Beats me what it does, but hopefully I'll find out soon enough :)

Bluewinde: 69 RDM, 67 MNK
Fenrir Server

Edit: Apearantly my whm friend was able to get the key item ,but the thf couldnt. The thf couldn't pop the NMs either... so idk all the requirements of popping the NMs

Edit 2: -.- This is for the quest "One Good Deed?" Rofl, somehow I found out how to do this by myself...

It's actually a part of a CoP mission. Really kinda stupid and annoying that you have to run out and talk to this for... pretty much nothing other then a funny cutscene (I don't remember fighting anything...)

new weights
# Jul 29 2005 at 7:02 PM Rating: Decent
I've done quite a bit of clamming and here is what i've found. Some of the weights (in ponzes) has changed and you can get new items. Here are a list of all my findings:

3 ponzes
- Bibiki Slugs

6 ponzes
- Kelp, Logs (petrified, willow, elm so far), Nebimonites, Coral Fragment, Oxblood Fragment, Shall Shell, Fish Scales(HQ included), Crab Shells, Seashells, Rock Salt, Pamamas, Turtle Shells, Titanictus Shells, Elshimo Cocounts

7 ponzes
- Pebbles

11 Ponzes
- Jacknife

20 Ponzes
- Tropical Clam

35 Ponzes
- Igneous Rocks

You can upgrade your bucket at 45-50, 95-100, 145-150 ponzes.. thats as far as i got, and i don't know if you get anything for getting passed the 200 ponze bucket..
Every time i get to the 200 ponze bucket, i get the message "something jumps into your bucket and breaks it, causing everything to wash out into the sea." I've actually caught a glimse of something running at my character model.. a little black taru thingy.. scary really.

you're only supposed to take it as close to 200 as you can, that's the highest you can get.

Decided to try this whole clamming thing. Well I never got past the 100 ponze bucket but I did get some nice items. I think I spent maybe 10-15k total clamming and easily got enough stuff to more than cover that. Here's a list of everything I caught:

These items seem to be most common:

Bibiki Slug (2 and half stacks)
Jacknife (2 and half stacks)
Pebble (not sure, tossed them)
Pantum Kelp (not sure, tossed them)
Crab Shell (6-8)
Fish Scales (tossed)
Igenious Rock (these things suck, pretty much guarentee'd to break your bucket unless it's one of your first finds)

These seem to be the more rare items:

Turtle Shell
Titanicus Shell (sp)
H.Q. Pugil Scales
H.Q. Crab Shell
Elshimo Coconut
Shall Shell (4 or 5)

Now this is all with the 50 or 100 ponze bucket. I think if you can upgrade your bucket more, you can catch other rare things. At least that's the assumption I got from the NPC anyway.
Molybdenum Ore?

Clamming
# Jun 08 2005 at 10:10 PM Rating: Excellent
Clamming... what an addiction. If you know the weights of the items, and you pay attention, you can really make this worth it. Also, I don't know if anyone has found out, but you can get bigger buckets. To obtain a bigger bucket...

Starting bucket holds 50 ponzes...

**It helps to know the weights of the items you obtain.**

To upgrade your bucket size, get as close to 50 ponzes as possible. At 45-50 ponzes, you can trade in your bucket for the next upgrade.

After the 50 ponzes bucket, you get a bucket that can hold 100 ponzes. **NOTE**Each time you upgrade your bucket, the weight count does not start over!***

[EX. You have 47 ponzes in your bucket. Trade in for the next upgrade, you now have a 100 ponze bucket, with 47 ponzes in it.]

You have to factor this in each time you upgrade, so that you don't break your bucket. Currently, I have gotten a bucket up to 200 ponzes.[Those Igneous Rocks really kill ><]

I do not know if there are any prizes to win besides what you Clam up. I'm still working on it, it's very tedious.

So far, the most valuable items I have clammed, are...
Tropical Clam - 5040 Gil at the NPC by the dock
Coral Fragment - 15000 gil at the AH in Jeuno
Bibiki Urchin - 750 gil at the NPC by the dock

Being that Clamming costs 500 gil, I have found these to be the most worthwhile items since they basically pay for the clamming itself, plus you get gil in return. Of course there will be other items that may pay well. Also there are several items that come close to being worthwhile as far as coming out even. I hope this helps anyone looking for information on clamming, sorry it couldn't be more.

OH! I just remembered... If you didn't already guess... each bucket upgrade adds 50 ponzes. To upgrade from each previous bucket...

1st Bucket - 50 ponzes
2nd Bucket - 100 ponzes (45-50 ponzes)
3rd Bucket - 150 ponzes (95-100 ponzes)
4th Bucket - 200 ponzes (145-150 ponzes)

Again, I haven't gone beyond 200 yet. Hope this helps.

I spent 10k clamming...
# Jun 03 2005 at 12:05 AM Rating: Default
My bucket broke once, so I decided I would waste some time before I clammed again. I decided I would kill a Coraline Uragnite, which was too weak to my as a 50DRK/RDM. (I always sub rdm when solo and not seeking) I figured "Easy kill". How wrong I was. The ******* pops his head out and I smack it for about 200 damage. I does "Venom Shell". It misses me. I smack it for about 25 damage, and notice it's regaining HP!. It goes on like this for about 5 more minutes, and then it's venome shell hits me, I take no damage, but I'm poisoned. "No big." (Barpoison)...I'm sitting here dying from NASTY poison, I used Last Resort and Blood Weapon. "Lucavi hits the Coraline Uragnite for 32 damage. Lucavi drains 32 HP from the Coraline Uragnite." At about 200 hp (from the 930 or so 3 minutes earlier) I call for help. This little taru just looks at me. I cast sleep. It sleeps. I disengage and bolt for the docks as the manaclipper is here. It wakes up and moves like a crackhead on flee riding a chocobo and me with gravity effect. >.< It hit me once and I died 3 steps from the boat. The boat leaves, Taru casts raise 1. Lucavi levels down back to 49. I check said Taru---75BLM/WHM!!!! AND IT WATCHED ME DIE AFTER I CALLED FOR HELP! I rest up and spend more gil on clamming, breaking my bucket over my the Weathered Boat. Then I just leave, and die again on the ship because I fished the lv 75 NM. I'll go back there and clam more once my crap sells. Stupid blm. >.<

I went here for the first time yesterday, it was realy impressive. Although i had hoped the boat would also stop at the mushroom-like islands i passed along the way, it's final destination proved to be just as impressive. I realy wish SE would make more of these islands/area's. This realy makes exploring fun. After growing tired of all the endless fields on the mainland, this surely was a pleasant change. Good job SE! ^^

The ???Warmachine and the ??? in the center of the aisle have to do with a quest in Port Windy to get a map of Attowha Chasm. Here is the link:
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/quests.html?realm=&fquest=496
There are actually 6 black onions, but they do link with the other black onions around so I recommend you clear the area before popping them. Have not found a way to the mountain yet, but I'm working on it ^^b

I was there with a buddy yesterday. We ran into the ???Warmachine when we were looking for the entrance to the mountain. I found a set of ??? just north of it in front of a rock. I believe it has something to do with the ???Warmachine. I examined it... that was a mistake! It said, "You hear a strange voice, You are not alone." It spawns, I think, 10 black mandies called Peerlink. They tore me apart(54 BLM). My manafont was 47 minutes away so no saving me there. My buddy the thief was able to Perfect Dodge > Instant Warp himself to safety though. If you have a tank touch it I think you can safely kill them all one by one after a solid sleep on them. They hit a little harder than the other little black mandies on the island.

To Akaibara, we were on the Manaclipper on the way to the Island and that mithra said something about sea monsters and one of those shell octopi things spawned. We killed it pretty easy. (54thf and 54 blm)

to get to the island, just talk to the girl on the dock, and take the boat when she says it's going to purgonorgo isle instead of on one of the tours.

i'm a lvl 41 whm, and i get sound aggro from the Viscous Clots [DC] & Krakens [DC], sight aggro from Ignis Fatuus [DC] everything else is EP or DC, but doesn't react (Alraune [DC], Coastal Opo-Opo [DC], Toucan [DC], Jagil [EP], Coralline Uragnite {EP]).

i also got a crab shell from clamming (386 gil for me). and in case anyone didn't notice, clamming weights are listed under the items. (thanks to the ppl who posted them, btw)
