Description

Not many people visit this small port town on the southern cliffs of Buburimu Peninsula. However, fledgling adventurers who haven't earned their airship passes can ride the ferry between Mhaura and Selbina. This is also the site of the ferry bound for Al Zahbi. The governor is well-liked in this peaceful town, which includes blacksmithing and goldsmithing guilds.

Points of Interest

  • A Nomad Moogle can be found at I-9.
  • Fyi Chalmwoh at G-8 starts the quests to obtain Mannequins.
  • Vera at G-10 grants the quest The Old Lady, which allows players to choose a subjob when completed.
  • A home point is at G-8.
  • A surprise key character is living in this town.

Map

The Map of the Windurst area, which includes Mhaura, can be bought from several NPCs for 200 gil.

A more descriptive way of how to get from San d'Oria to Mhaura...

San d'Oria -> West Ronfaure -> La Thiene Plateau -> Valkurm Dunes -> Selbina -> Ferry from Selbina to Mhaura -> Mhaura.

And. The Map Vendor is NOT up the big stairs you first see, instead just keep walking forward as you enter town, under the overpass on top of you and he will be on the left corner of the building, name is Ludwig.

EDIT: It used to say East Ronfaure o_O

I ALWAYS lag here. My Recieve jumps from 114 to 98 and back again before it finally just disconnects. >< It's painful 'cause I fish here for my Alchemy skill-ups.
Anyone that does the quest here?

Is it better to do the sub job quest here? Because Valkurm Dunes it's so hard to find ghouls and i hate looking for people to help with Gusgen Mines... it creeps me out when i go in there LOL

Never experienced lag in Mhauri. My internet connection speed is 3000k (3MB). Consider increasing the speed of your connection. Its worth the money.

Bah! Bad luck for ship travelling with me...

Twice I have taken the ship with my Thf. The first time I spotted the Sea Horrer (fortunatly there was a full compliment of high levels to fight him all the way to murha while we gazed on in amazment.

The second time, a few levels later back to Valkun I was killed by pirates (damn undead, got me just as I finished a close pugil fight...)

the only luck I have had with the ship is a random Raise given when I got back to selba, some people are too nice...
Mobs
# Jul 08 2004 at 4:14 AM Rating: Decent
The Sea Horror seems to be more common than pirates, either that or I've just been having horrible luck. I'm one of those people who just ride back and forth fishing...lately Pirates are just really rare...not sure why.

The Phantoms, like any undead in most of Vana'diel only spawn between 20:00-4:00, if that helps anyone.
Pirates
# Jul 05 2004 at 7:43 PM Rating: Decent
The boat trip being attacked by pirates is random, ive road from Selbina~Mhara and back with no pirates attacking. I also havnt seen the see horror but i want to but i dont.
RE: Pirates
# Oct 12 2004 at 1:15 AM Rating: Decent
he sea horror looks like a stingray with an octopus growing out of its ******... stingray part being gray and octopus part being orangy... they could have done a little more with the name "horror" because other than its fricken huge damage, its nothing scary to see, it detects by sound, so dont try to run away if it strolls close to you.. and dont try to go into any door, it knows how to open them ><
The boat...
# Apr 01 2004 at 12:23 PM Rating: Decent
you can travel it easily at lvl 1 if you stay below deck, or go to the upper deck and be careful of aggros on the lower deck...also you can fish from the stairs, and you wont catch any mobs...

if youre worried about not getting aggro...get to level 70+...the sea horror aggros and 2 hit kills up till then...and even a 73 pld cannot solo the sea horror...

Supposedly a high level red mage can solo it. I've seen a white mage sub ninja take it on before solo. Dual clubs is so cool with a little taru. ^^ I assume a high ninja can solo it as well. But you are right, it is very tough.
the REAL EASY sub
# Dec 24 2003 at 11:16 AM Rating: Good
The EASY sub quest (bogys are really really hard compared to ghouls) comes from a dude in sel at this point see the line inbetween 9 and 10 and the line between F and G , hes RIGHT where they cross u need the following easy to get items

Crab Apron - Snippers
Damelsfly worm - Damelsflys
Majiked Skull - Ghouls (spawn around the same time at night, or u can go to the gusen tunnels in the highlands, they got no spawntime)
Requirements?
# Dec 02 2003 at 3:07 PM Rating: Default
Is there a minimum level or a quest requirement for taking the boat?

I need to get out of windurst before I go insane and with 5 levels to go for chocobos, and absolutely no idea about how to take the friggin' airship, this seems like the best option.

The requirements for riding the ship between Mhaura and Selbina are:

1. having 100 gil for passage (each way)
2. being able to get to either Mhaura or Selbina from your home town

If you see another ship pulling up alongside, you are being attacked by pirates. Hide below deck (or on the ship's bridge), as the pirates will be on their ship summoning undead on your ship (multiple skeleton type mobs) - they will aggro low level players that they see.
Dangerous Passage?
# Nov 11 2003 at 11:49 AM Rating: Default
What do you mean by the passage being dangerous? Does that mean that riding on the boat is dangerous, or that just getting to this area is dangerous?

I had no idea, so I decided to take the boat to Selbina at level 11 to go to Bastok....we had no attack but there were IT phantoms that spawned on the deck at night but luckily we had a level 70 summoner on board. You can just go up into the bridge with the captain and hide.

It takes forever to walk from Selbina to Bastok and it's very sketchy along the way but I made it there at 11. Now I'm 13 and am on the boat going back. Sea crabs have been spawning but they don't seem to be aggro. They are IT to me.
RE: Dangerous Passage?
# Nov 16 2003 at 5:17 PM Rating: Decent
When you ride from Mhaura to Selbina, there will be a pirate attack. However even if you are lower than L20, you can just go into the captain's cabin and remain safe.
Sub Quest (easy)
# Nov 11 2003 at 4:52 AM Rating: Default
Here is where you can get the "easy" sub quest. On the right side of the dock, facing the water, there's an old woman there. If you are lvl 18, she'll tell you about a quest. You have to bring her a wild rabbit's tail, then a cup of dhalem saliva, and then a bloody robe. All fairly easy to get at 18. The only hard one is the bloody robe, which drops off of a Bogy between the hours of 2000 and 0400 at night. They spawn near the beach area on the south west. About lvl 23+ monsters from wut i can tell.
