Description

Mamook, the forested capital of the Mamool Ja Savages, is accessible only by traversing the Wajaom Woodlands or Bhaflau Thickets. Wooden walkways connect the structures and islands within this forested stronghold, and notorious monsters and other powerful foes stand guard against Imperial invaders.

Points of Interest

  • The BCNM to recover the Astral Candescence is reached through a passage on the west edge of G-10 on the second map. A Red Bell and Blue Bell are needed to enter the BCNM.
  • A Mamook Tanscale Key is required for opening some ebony doors in this zone. Other doors require a Red Bell or a Blue Bell.
  • The Vicious Liquid at K-8, G/H-7, D/E-8, G/H-8 and K-10 will turn you into a beastman with poisoned status.
  • The ??? at L-9 is used in the quest Give Peace a Chance.
  • The ??? at E-8 is used in the quest Get the Picture.

Maps

Does the True Sight mean that they see through the Mamook Costume? or do you still not get attacked by that? finally, is it possible to negate the poison effect by having some form of regen up? So many questions, so little time.. gonna find out <3

Mamook mobs will not attack you with vicious liquid in effect. As far as I can see, it remains in effect until either you cancel it or you die. I don't think anyone has enough HP to discover a fade out point. This liquid is meant to protect you from the NM Mamook. There are 2 spots I know of on the way to training grounds with 2 mobs having true sight. One is a frogman the other is not listed in the beastiary. As I passed by each mamook, I checked it againats the beastiary. When I found the one that wasn't in there, he checked impossible to guage and he came right after the spot where I get the liquid. You CAN cancel the liquid before you die. Get to a safe spot and get invis up after you get far enough passed a true sight mob. Antidotes do not work. Nothing works after costume is on. Costume must be canceled first.
Outdoor but you can use Escape.

I also drank the liquid while doing the "Two Horn the Savage" quest - failed to note the declining life, and promptly got DC'ed for no reason.

Logged back in with 112 life of 1200... I guess it wore in time.

Jesus, Allah, Buddha... I love you all!
poison status

Confirmed you can cast sneak before drinking the liquid and have it stick.

I had a good time playing with the costume and taking pictures with the local beastmen and neglected to notice my life bar…. Dead.

Also it seems the higher lvl Mamook’s have true sight.

In Mamook, you may come across vats of Viscuous Liquid. Should you choose to drink some, you'll be turned into a Mamool Ja, with a powerful poison effect (20 per tick). While this costume is in effect, you will not be attacked by Mamool Ja.

However, as my poor paladin found out, you -will- be aggro'd by pugils (which in turn strips your costume). My 2,200 exp buffer went somewhat lower, but not quite to the delevel point, through Invincible + Reraise(II) Gorget. Unfortunately, I was stuck between two relatively close Mamool Ja mobs.

After reraising, I got sneak up... but as I was casting Invisible, one of the mamools spotted me and attacked. Weakened PLD + no 2-hour = dead PLD. Fortunately, a Ninja and a Summoner were nearby, and the Summoner raised me, leaving me 111 experience points short of level 70.

Thanks to Civic and Siera on Asura, for the Raise.
