That is used by trading a map obtained from the "Indside the Belly" Quest. it will cap your level to 20 and you will fight 3 NM Pugils. One known drop is Mercurial Kris.

Now here is my question: Has anyone figured out the use for the Hieroglyphs behind a rock which is located behind the outpost by the goblin hunting camp?

Ya I just saw one of those too in Rolanberry Fields, near the gate that leads to the Lower Jeuno zone.

It was very weird and me and a passerby just decided it was a bug like you said.

swirling vortex
# Aug 20 2005 at 4:32 PM Rating: Decent
i just happened to be reading past this and saw the swirling vortex questions so here goes...

after getting chains of promathia you have to complete promyvion mea, holla and dem which are capped at lvl 30 after that is done you may use the swirling vortex to access lufaise meadows from the dunes or qufim island

Hope that helps

Also after entering lufaise meadows your lvl will be capped to 40

the dunes are the easist place to lvl up from 10-20 for most jobs 9-20 for whm ^^ lol but other then that you should have no problems with the monsters there...unless you have a totaly n00b person in your pt then your screwed...the fastes i have gotten out of the dunes was one day...gained 10 lvls and then i was off to Quifim island....the party was amazing.....had 2 whms both tarutaru 2 war one galka one taru((i was the taru lol)) a blm and a mnk....one of the best parties i have ever had
I like it.

# Jul 17 2005 at 5:37 AM Rating: Decent
Eveyone in Hades used to hate valk but now it seems that all the noobs are advancing to Quifim Island and Yuhtunga Jungle so it's like hell when someone zones a mob. And besides there are like thirty PLs perday in Valk so people move through there fast. Too bad it isn't like that at Crawlers' Nest *sob* =P

For anyone in Hades beware of Yuntunga and Yhoator Jungles people zone Goblins about 95% of the time there now compared to it's past 50%.
ya in the glitch mentioned below...

i thought i could solo a crab as rng from in the water but evidently they can chase you there ....
so i died it keeps warping then dissapearing ect. my friend calls a GM and he raises me, and told me never to go in the water again because it messes up the graphics for other people on the beach, so just a heads up ^.^

I love the Dunes when I actually level up.

I hate 'em all other times.

Which means...I still hate 'em. I plan to avoid Quifim too, level in Battalia Downs instead.

Also, to all people here: Chill out. Life's too short to get angry at stupidity.

your certianly right, the dunes is one of those places that makes you realize how weak your character is, but yet how fast you can become great (again?).
Formerly: Iaito on Odin (XI)
Currently: Adorthan on Selbina (XIV)

correction, the vortex's in siren sands, not whitebone :~D
# May 24 2005 at 8:38 AM Rating: Decent
In the dunes, i'm sure you're all aware of, there are 3 zones inside/hidden in caves. One of these zones is on the secret beach, one on siren sands, and there's a vortex on whitebone sands. where does this take you? if someone could give me some info before my newbish side gets the better of me and takes me wandering and raped by some lvl 95 mobs.
Bobvobs Guide to the Galaxy: Valkrum editon
# May 18 2005 at 10:08 PM Rating: Decent
I’m bored, so I’ve decided too make a guide for both Valkrum and Qufim^^

Bobvob’s Guide to Valkrum:
Levels: you go here from levels 11ish-20 for most jobs

Info: first real parting zone, most people wont have a clue what there doing at first, lol so get ready to see whm/war and war/blm

Nicknames: The Dunes, Valkrum, D00ns (my favorite), N00b land, Hell (lol)

Konshcat zone: place near the konshcat zone, away from every thing else, tunnel divides this from everywhere else
Beaches: Siren Sands and White bone sands
Cliff: I-8-ish
Outpost: the outpost, wow
Secret Beach: go to the top left of the map, you see a cave, go through the cave with at least 2 other ppl to kill the bats
Oasis: place with trees in the middle of nowhere

Levels 11-13: Konshcat zone, lizzys, goblins
-to get through the cave you have to get past SAND BATS, these agro: my trick to getting past them... let another n00b walk right in front of them!! (Mean, yes, but it works, no joke, its called social Darwinism, lol j/k)

Lvl 14-15ish: Cliff, Beach, fight snips, bring a blm

Lvl 15-17: Oasis- crabs, flies, flies are nasty, bring lots of healers

Lvl 17-18: go around D-7 and kill goblins

Lvl 18-20 Pugils, be ready to die, set HP in Selbina at all costs!!!

Subjobs: you get Subs at 18.
Client: old elvaan guy called Issaco
Items: Damselfly worms, monster: Damselfly’s
Crab apron, monster: Snipers (crabs)
Magicked Skull monster: Ghoul (dead
skeleton things)
Subjobs Description:
A subjob allows you to enhance your main job with abbilities and spells of another job...
What subjobs to use in the early levels:
Warrior should sub Monk
Monk should sub Warrior
Whitemage should sub Blackmage
Blackmage (see above)
Redmage can sub White or Black mage
Thief should sub warrior, mabye mnk... but warrior is better

T3h Bogy’s... they will kill you!!! No matter how many people you have and no matter what Level you are!!
You know what a bogy is because they look loke giant baloon ghost thingys...

AFTER VALKRUM: at level 20 you head North to Alask.. um... i mean Qufim, and better yet, JEUNO!!! chocobo license and all!
(go to dangruf wadi and kill rabits for a certain type of plant if your cheap, the plants for the chocobo quest were 600 at the AH when i did it, now there 2000!

Edit for spelling:
Edit for content:

Well, i guess thats about all for Valkrum... now to work on Qufim some more... tell me if you see any mispelling (which there will be alot of) or additional info... Thank you

Actually, I prefer to party at Buburimu peninsula than in Valkurm Dunes. When I was with my set pt, we use to go to Buburimu, the lvl is similar but less people and we did it better than in Valkurm. Just and opinion...

You may be referring to the WHM AF1, but it's been so long I can't remember what that does. In any event you likely can't do anything about it until you level up a ton.

Valkurm Glitch?
# Mar 21 2005 at 3:24 PM Rating: Decent
Am I the only one who knows about this!?!? I can't be, but know ever knows how I do it. You can go under the water in the dunes and walk way down the map where your not supposed to. You can even walk around the back of Selbina! Someone showed it to me one day and i havn't seen anyone do it since, and there are no posts about it. For those who do not know how to do it, here is a hint. You have to do it from Whitebone, not Siren sands.
RE: Valkurm Glitch?
# Mar 30 2005 at 9:24 PM Rating: Default
I called a GM about it and he told me that "this is not good" and "we cant let that happen" so i haven't any idea if they are going to do something about this glitch... futhermore, he asked me if there was "anyone in the water" at the time... i said "no" so he did nothing... but did thank me for letting them know and to make a formal submission to the Glitch department on PlayOnline...

Reporting glitches to the GMs: Makes you look good, and possibly rewarded.

Knowingly using glitches and not reporting them: Bad.

Exploiting glitches and not reporting them: Very bad.

Games have banned people for exploiting glitches and not reporting them. (Trust me. I've been on the admin team in one. Disclaimer: I an not an employee or volunteer GM for SEI.)

Noob Question

Question from a noob -> In the south-east corner of this map (K-9) there is a 'break' from the mainland of the Dunes and an apparent entrance to Konschtat Highlands. Being a noob (and only visiting this place once before) I was wondering if it is possible to get directly across to Konschtat Highlands from here or if that's another entrance altogether.
RE: Noob Question
# Mar 20 2005 at 8:18 PM Rating: Decent
I had been wondering the same thing. ^-^;
But yesterday I went through those two areas, and the break in the map is simply a tunnel, so yes, you can get through right from Valkrum toward the entrance to Konschtat.
# Mar 11 2005 at 1:23 AM Rating: Decent
I've seen two posts asking what the swirling vortex does or where it leads, and neither were answered. I'm also wondering where it leads and how you use it, if someone could be kind enough to answer this i would be greatful.
RE: Vortex
# Mar 17 2005 at 2:52 AM Rating: Decent
When i Graduated from Valkrum, I wanted to do two things.

1. Explore Valkrum Dunes
2. Help people.

I have done both.

The Vortex are for Missions and or quests, that take you to some where. Thats all I know. A hint was had in Jeuno by talking to some guard NPCs, that the land was going to hell in a hand basket and the vortexs were a symtom of that.
