Description

Beneath the grasslands of Sarutabaruta sprawls the catacombs of the Horutoto Ruins. Above ground, the entrances to these ancient tunnels are found within the giant, tree-like towers scattered across the savanna. The tunnels, rooms and caverns within are home to goblins, bats, beetles, skeletons and numerous other monsters.

Nobody really knows the purpose of the Horutoto Ruins, though a magical energy continues to emanate from their depths.

Points of Interest

  • The magical gizmo for the mission The Horutoto Ruins Experiment can be found by traveling through the cracked wall at H-9 on the first map.
  • Traveling through the cracked walls at G-8 or G-9 on the first map allow you to go deeper into the ruins.
  • The Cat Burglar's secret hideout is behind the Mahogany Door at G-8 on the second map.
  • You need a red mage, a white mage and a black mage to get passed the Three Mage Gate on the third map, unless you have a Portal Charm.
  • The Toraimarai Canal is accessed from H-6 on the fourth map.

Maps

The Horutoto Ruins Map is obtained from the quest Glyph Hanger.

Linked towers?

Could it be that the tower system in the East and West are somehow linked? Just last night I was down in the tower that is the furthest North and West on the West Sabarutu area.

There is a Cracked wall on the East side small room, going through you end up in a massive cave. In there are a ton of Goblins. Some of them are rated very tough for my level 13 red mage. So I did not get to see what was at the end of this cave. Time to get a party together and rampage through. I will post back if I find anything.

I was checking this place out the other day for fun, and yes the two towers from east and west sar. are linked. If you go straight back in the very large room full of gobbys there's another room that has a locked door "sealed with 3 kinds of magic"
anyone know what thats for? :)

IF the room you speak of is very tall ceilings and stone pillars, then yes they do connect. A long way's away. Me (18/9 mnk/whm, and a 20war/7mnk) went back through the ruins, very far. we came to a big door and upon opening it was a huge room as I dscribed above. The goblins were Lecher's and Gamblers and checked as T/VT for me. so we didnt go any further. But my guess is from reading things over, that that is where the Bmob king is ( I guess). But where can one find a map of this dungeon? Windurst only has the one for the mze but not the ruins.

The map for the ruins is attained from the quest "Glyph Hanger" byHariga-Origa in the Optistery in Windurst Waters.

getting up the ledge?
# Nov 12 2003 at 4:44 PM Rating: Default
A couple of people have said this already, you go into the Inner Horutoto Ruins through the main entrance from just outside the North Gate. You can do the quest to get the map BUT!!!!

When you go down the main stairs and round the corner you are in a big square room. There are no cracks in the wall that I can find and the only way forward is a hallway that is one floor above the floor of the room which you are now standing.

How do you get up there!!!???!

thanks,

Sabarath, title Freesword, Level 13 Red mage on the Leviathan server in the Windurst area.

you can not get up the ledge. The ledge is a means of leaving a much higher level area 24ish. That tower is linked to the mission 1 tower in east saru. theres a system of caves below and if you go deep enough you will pop out in west saru.

How do you get up on that ledge? I was wondering since I went in but could not get onto the ledge.

Too find Ipupu, go to West Sarutabaruta from Windurst Waters. As soon as you leave the city there is a tower right there. Go inside the tower and she is right there. Don't go down the stairs though, she is by the entrance to the tower.
This......

Getting Map

Jaerin is correct. You can obtain the map by doing a quest for Hariga-Origa who is in the Optistery in Windrust Waters. He(I think he...) is the first little guy on the left when you first walk in. He will ask you to take something to Ipupu. She(again, I think...) is in the main section of the dungeon before you go down the staris. She is just on the left when you first walk in as well, not the one to the left of the staris. Hope this helps in obtaining the map. Now I need to learn how to fly...

I got this quest by talking to the West gate guard... (can't recall its name) he ask you to join his troop which is the "Best of the West". Once you joined he ask you to do the mission.

1st step is to go to the Orastery which is located at E-7 in Port Windurst. Then talk to the two tarutaru that are on the stage. They will ask you to go to the Horutoto Ruins tower. Im not sure which one as I haven't completed this quest yet, but I think its the east one located at J-7 on Sarutabaruta East. Then your on your own.. I haven ckeared it yet. I'll post update if I get more info

For this Mission (first rank mission), the tower you need to go to is the one in the middle east part of East Saur. I do not know the coordinates offhand.

The tower in question is the one right outside of the gate to West Sarutabaruta from Windurst Waters.

There are entrances to different parts of this place via the towers in Saratabata.

The map to it is from a quest in Windurst Waters. I believe the guy is in the Osteruary and just requires you to run out to the tower just to the west after you enter Saratabata from Windurst Waters.
