Description

When the Galka were driven from their homeland in the Kuzotz region, they fled to Bastok by way of the Korroloka Tunnel. The tunnel travels deep beneath the sea and is filled with worms, crabs, pugils, spiders and numerous other monsters. Adventurers from Bastok can access the tunnel by traveling through the Zeruhn Mines.

Points of Interest

  • Adventurers at levels of 15 to 19 can party here for experience points.
  • The Morion Worm is spawned by trading an Iron Ore to the ??? at J-9 or J-8 on the first map, F-9 or F-10 on the second map, or I-8 or J-8 on the third map.
  • The ??? at F-9 on the fifth map spawns the Metallic Slime for the quest Blighted Gloom.
  • The ??? on the border of K-8 and L-9 spawns three Korroloka Leeches for the quest Ayame and Kaede, which unlocks the ninja job.
  • Summoners are known for doing astral burn parties in this zone.

Alternative to Qufim

This area is also a nice alternative to Qufim if you can get together a nice party to fight bats.

I got 2 LS members together (a level 20 DRG and a level 21 RDM), along with my level 22 WHM, and we were able to get some decent exp by killing worms down there. Note that it's not the *best* exp, but it's a good for a break from Qufim.

The tunnel is... well one long tunnel. I was able to get through it at level 30 by just keeping my finger on the foward button. Something agros you? oh well keep running because the exit is straight ahead of you.

I was able to level from 12-18 killing worms there with a full party in one night. Of course we had a ninja/war using utsumei(sp?) so he was able to tank without taking damage
To Rabao Alone?
# Feb 15 2004 at 11:02 PM Rating: Decent
As a Lvl 33 NIN, will I be able to make it through the tunnel ok alone? If I'm extremely careful with aggro, do you think I could get from the tunnel to Rabao alone? Or should I enlist the help of a high level WHM or RDM?
RE: To Rabao Alone?
# Feb 25 2004 at 11:11 PM Rating: Default
The tunnel will be the hardest part of that journey, since you cant avoid agro too well in a confined space.

Getting to Rabao alone is possible at level 1, as long as you are smart about dodging enemies. There is a ledge above the main tunnel that will get you 2/3 of the way through without any chance of aggro whatsoever. Then just jump off and run west until you reach the exit. In the desert, simply make your way north to Western Altepa Desert and then continue north to Rabao. This part is the easy part, just dodge the enemies, the vast majority aggro sound. (Exceptions: Goblins, Manticores) If you have silent oil it is easier, but it can be done without. Hope this helps.

You can buy the map in Rabao from a mithra (not at a booth) in K-7 or K-8 or so. Forgot her name though....
Morion Worm
# Jan 31 2004 at 4:51 PM Rating: Default
I was just passing by and I saw a ??? I was about to click it and then all the sudden a lvl 61 Monk clicks it and out pops the Morion Worm. He was taking no to little damage but the fight took a good minute. Is this worm for a quest or mission?
Giant Clams, what are they for?
# Jan 24 2004 at 4:20 PM Rating: Default
see this "Giant Clams" in several part of this map, and I can't find any references to it on this site. Can someone please enlighten me.

I don't know what level but the "Falcatus Aranei" is a Giant spider Notorious mob that pawns at J-7!
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 15 2004 at 3:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I disagree with the level's given for the tunnel. I went in as a 15whm and did fine with a pty of 5-6 characters. Four days later (at three hours a night,) I'm 20lvl and its still a great place for exp. Beware of jelly's, they'll aggro, and tell me about soloing as WHM at 20lvl, cause I don't think I could there. thanks.

Levels given are levels for the creatures inside the zone, not recommended party levels. A level 15 party would *want* to fight level 20 creatures.

It's a level 30 mob. It spawns when you trade an Iron Ore to a ???. Melees or Red Mages recommended level 45. All other mages recommended level 50+. Hope this helps.

Korrolaka Leeches?
# Dec 20 2003 at 11:54 AM Rating: Default
I'm working on the Ninja quest and just wanted to know if anyone can tell me what kind of party is needed to take these 3 leeches out?

Any other general info will be helpful ^_^ (aka average hit rate at a certain level, the way they spawn, stuff that needs ot be cleared.. so on.)
RE: Korrolaka Leeches?
# Jan 12 2004 at 9:20 AM Rating: Default
Just did this part last nite, had 31 red mage, 31 theif, 30 theif, 31 white mage, 40 dragoon and a 65 samurai. Leeches didn't last more than 30 seconds. I think we could have handled it without the Samurai, but a full group of low 30's may not be able to do it.
RE: Korrolaka Leeches?
# Dec 25 2003 at 8:22 PM Rating: Default
I have seen a 61 RM solo all 3 PLUS 3 reg Leech adds. Didn't seem to give him to much of a problem. Average hit for a level 31 THF was about 65. Hope that helps.

#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 28 2003 at 8:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) you should act cute and type the following line to some high lvl japanese player: "Surimasein [Ninja] [Quest] please help..." then start kissing up to them when they start killing stuffs... like "Superman".... "you so powerful!"... 'you are hero!!".... they will love you to death... by the way, did I say u need to change main job to **** and subjob to Hoe??? thats essential in doing that...

Lvl 20
# Dec 02 2003 at 1:12 PM Rating: Default
It really isn't worth going into until you're a higher level. I went in solo as a lvl 14 Red Mage and after a 30+ min fight with a worm (using hit and run with Aero) I only got 200 exp.
RE: Lvl 20
# Dec 03 2003 at 1:06 AM Rating: Decent
You need a party of 14-17s with a BLM. You'll get about 150 XP for every worm killed. Place is XP Party Heaven.
Korro Tunnel
# Nov 29 2003 at 5:44 PM Rating: Default
Don't bother going into Korro until you are at least level 20. It's a good place to solo for Red Mages and White Mages at that time though, because you can silence the Land Worms and get some great xp. I love fighting here because it is so close to Bastok, and has the same mobs (for the most part) as severely overcrowded Qufim.

The ??? are mining points where you can use a pickaxe and look for ore.

The leeches were Incredibly Tough to me at 24 so.. =]

The tunnel is part of the expansion pack area. You must install and activate the Rise of the Zilart expansion pack to get into the area.

This is where the battle to recieve the ninja flag ends just had a few Qs.

1-Was wondering what levels the Thread Leechs are?
2-Level of the Korroloca Leechs?
3-Where is the ??? located on the map?
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 11 2003 at 8:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) AHHHHHHH LOL Serves me right for being curious and exploring hte mines at level 4 doesn't it!
RE: AHH
# Dec 10 2003 at 5:20 AM Rating: Default
??? means named spot.
If you trade an Iron ore on the ??? you will spawn the named, Morion worm, who drops a nice ammo slot for caster but it's a rare drop.
