Description

The tropical rainforest known as the Yuhtunga Jungle comprises the majority of the Elshimo Lowlands. Due to the hot and humid conditions found throughout the area, a variety of plant life, from giant vines to carnivorous flowers, has evolved over the centuries. In the southernmost part of the jungle, a number of small waterfalls can be found in a place known as the Hidden Valley. According to local legend, faeries gather around the falls, and the Mithra of Kazham often travel here as part of their purification rituals.

Points of Interest

  • Adventurers who are levels 20-23 can fight mandragoras just outside of Kazham.
  • The outpost in this zone is at G-11.
  • The notorious monster Rose Garden spawns in place of the Overgrown Rose next to the outpost. The Overgrown Rose can't be killed or aggroed for roughly 10 hours. The Rose Garden eventually turns into Voluptuous Vilma.
  • The fastest way to Yhoator Jungle is to drop down the hole at H-6 and follow the path southwest.

Just switch to a level one job and get killed by a mob, then you can go back to your home point, if you are smart enough to save it as Jueno

Anyone know where the logging points are here?
What to kill, when to go?

From my experience you can hit this jungle as early as 26 without a problem. Start with mandragoras, then work your way up to Smithys. 30 is a good time to head to the other jungle, though you can probably do it a bit earlier if your group is good. At the other jungle it's the same routine. Start with mandragoras and work your way up to smithys. The only thing I would say is beware of smithy trains. Try to setup camp at one of the areas off to the side to avoid trains that are coming and going. The lizards really aren't worht the experience and you should only really pull them if there is nothing else to pull at the moment.
Good to stay

Does this place give enough exp where I can level from lvl 26 to 30? I'm thinking about leveling here to 30, then do the drg quest. But does the good exp last that long?
how hard is hard?
# Jan 14 2004 at 2:03 PM Rating: Default
at what lvl would you say should a player go there at? I see many people stay in quifim till 25-26 but many of my friends told me to wait till lvl 30 but they all left there at 26 too.... and I am having hard time finding a group at 27 in quifim....

everyone i've seen or talked to leaves qufim at 25 rite away and goes to kazham, then levels in yuhtunga for a few levels to bout 27 or 28, then move over to yhaotar for the next few levels if they choose and stay there til around 32 or 33 unless they bail at 30 to do advanced job quests instead. that's what i did also and xp wise has been good when u can actually find a party. finding a party tho can be a pain, and u can wait a long time if u are not a "popular" job... whm gets grabbed rite away, i do pretty well as a rdm cux i get asked to be a healer by the parties with no whm. i often see these poor warriors standing there for hours sometimes with no group... dunno about the other jobs...
Fun!

I got sick of waiting around for hours to get a party in Quifim, so i got the keys and went to kazham, and what happens? i wait around for hours to get a party...

I hate this place. Everytime I get in a good group someone says "Oh, let's go to the other jungle! I know where there are mandragoras that give 200xp!" Even though we're getting 150+ for smithies where we are.
Then everyone hops a chocobo and takes off. Person who "Knows Where The Place Is" leads, and eventually we get lost. Usually we find the other jungle about 3 times, today we also found norg. Eventually our chocobos time out and run away and we all die.
Happened 3 times to me so-far.

yeah ur getting 150 for smithies, but with how much downtime? mandragoras in yhoator are little downtime and u get 100 on average. u must not be 32 yet, the gob exp sucks at 32 - Lizz (evillizhaha@aol.com)

Couln't find any info on this when I made my run...feel free to add info. This info here is how I did it solo

Preparation: Silent Oil - have some to increase your chance of survival in the grotto
*after making the run myself...wish I woulda had some hi-potions and a reraise scroll.

After you land in Khazam, make sure you got all the needed items. The hardest part will be The Serpent's Grotto. Rent yourself a chocobo. I kept moving towards the southwest corner. The maze is pretty nasty, you dont want to run out of chocobo ride time at lvl 35 or less. If you are on a tree looking at the map and see a tunnel ahead of you, it's probably a dead end. Out of Khazam, take G south, 7 west, then E south again, at E-10 move southeast. You generally want to make it to the SW Outpost. In that area will be a hole to drop down onto. There is one closer to the cliff towards the waterfall area. Drop down and run towards the waterfalls. The zoneline to the Grotto is through a tunnel near or behind a waterfall at F-11. Once inside the grotto, avoid everything. The only thing that DID NOT agro were bats - use your oil once inside. Ghasts and Crabs will kick your butt in a heartbeat. From the zone-in keep towards the right wall and move foward till you pass a door. Continue to move forward, staying right. You should see an arch on the way. Norg is just a sprint from the door. If you die around here, there will probably be someone running through and you can ask for help if you die. I died there and got a raise.

This is not an expert guide by any means, but gives a picture of how the run will be. Hope it helps those that want to run there solo and are scared...there is nothing to it. I know a lot of ppl ask for help gettin there, but it's not that hard at all.

ok i got to E-10 and at the area where you say to fall through the hole and go for the waterfall... there isnt a hole... only a tunnel that is blocked and a cliff so what do i do here?

about as expert as it comes, i read this and got there without any problems at all, didnt die once, and took 2 pots of oil

one tip i would say is, make sure you are away from monsters when your oil runs out, as you will need to reapply the oil.

secondly, just in case, yeah keep right, the path that it lit by torches on the walls is the one that leads to norg, its behind a sort of secret rock coloured door in the wall, which you will need to select with f8 or tab and use to open
