Description

Overlooking the vast seas of Gugru Blue, the windswept land mass of Buburimu Peninsula is a vast hunting ground for low-level adventurers. The peninsula -- characterized by rocky beaches and naturally lighted rock formations -- is home to dhalmels, goblins, yagudo, crawlers, mandragoras, rabbits and numerous other types of wildlife.

Adventurers of all levels visit Buburimu Peninsula to take advantage of the zone's easily accessible outpost warp. The peninsula is also the gateway to Labyrinth of Onzozo and Bibiki Bay, as well as the lazy port city of Mhaura.

Logging Points?

yes. they are on the trees that have thin trunks and the wide canopies. they look like umbrellas. however, they logging points are few and far between and can spawn in the trees above both beaches. After logging for about an hour, and only finding about 3-4 sites i gave up on that and farmed silk spools. *thumbs up*

Forgot the name... there is a NASTY little cave in K6 along the Dunes beach. Was in it for all of a good ten seconds, checked the player list, tried a Gob Reaper, and decided it was not a more amusing venue of Vana'diel. My dead party members agreed, and we promptly took our business elsewhere.

ghouls
# Dec 03 2003 at 2:03 AM Rating: Default
Where do the ghouls spawn on this map? Many of the parties here aren't specifically looking for them so maybe I can get some clean ghoul hunting for my last subjob quest item.

I usually camp near the outpost but I never see them in that area, though I do see zombies quite often.

Khoonta Dunes...to be more specific (not sure about Mighoya). Most people looking for the Bloody Robe hang out around Khoonta. I had an alliance there of 18 people. If you have a group of 16-18s, count on an alliance to bring the bogy down. One party will not cut it when they con IT.

If you're in a part of 5-6 16-18 and you're getting slaughtered by leechers, gamblers and the like, then you are in an AWFUL party. Always mke sure the party you joined is well-rounded or you will die and lose exp. If your party doesn't have at least 2 WHM or a WHM and one or two RDM, you will get owned, but in parties I've been in (usually 3 17's, me at 18, and a 19 and a 16), we can chain leechers and gamblers for 140-217 (217 is the highest we've had so far, could go higher). We gained a level almost every hour and a half from the time I was 16 until I was 18.

Actually I just realized you were chaining and I'm pretty sure the chain bonus can take you over 200. So carry on.

Bubu areas

The gobs here are definitely nastier than in tahronghi. Theres three basic XP spots here:

* chaining things by luring into the Outpost. (Good for levels 13-17 with a balanced party and depending upon what you fight)

* chaining bull dhalmels and gobs by luring to the Mhuara gates (Levels 15-19)

* Chaining snippers and or pugils on the Khoonta Dunes. (Levels 16-20+). Snippers are really easy to take out and grossly overconned, and with a balanced party its not hard to chain up to five in a row or more, and the xp is good right up to about level 18. The pugils are a lot harder, and they will link if close together, but a full party of 17-19s can easily take them down and most yield 100-200 even for a lvl 19-20 and with a 6 member party.

The bonus of Khoonta Dunes is that with the exception of the bogys at night (actually not all that hard to avoid), there is nothing aggro, which makes it a lot easier to have a low-risk party and do intelligent chains. I found there is no benefit in trying to take poison leeches, they give crap XP compared to the difficulty to take them down. just make sure everybody knows the escape path to Mhuara if you do get aggroed by a bogy (the good news is since bogys cast spells they are a bit easier to run from than melee mobs).
Drop that Bomb
# Nov 18 2003 at 5:53 PM Rating: Decent
Gobs usually kill members of the group because of Bomb Toss damage. If you are lossing 1 team member per Gob w/o a Bomb Toss, they're too high.
Make sure your Monk has the TP for a Shoulder Tackle, by pulling lesser mobs in between Gobs.

I.e. After using the Monk TP skill, Shoulder Tackle, pull a couple crabs or rabbits before attempting another Gob. This gives the Monk enough TP to attempt another ST in time for the next Bomb Toss.
Pulling back to back Goblins will only drain the healers of mana (I've seen bomb toss do 90 damage on the *second* toss, wiping 1-3 players) and return you to your bind point.

This isnt exact, but from what ive seen Valkrum Dunes and BPen are almost the same zone.

And in Valkrum, While you can con a butcher, an ambusher, and a leecher and get IT on all of them, leechers are PARTICULARLY tough.

Be forwarned. Every fight ive ever been in against a leecher, someone died. At least in groups of 5-6 Levels 16-18

The leechers are so powerful because of their magic. Silence them, and they're just a goblin with a stick. I solo them when I see them (30RDM), and so long as they're silenced (especially when they're about to die, they cast Cure III then), it's not very difficult.
not true
# Nov 14 2003 at 12:13 AM Rating: Default
now thats not true at all. my group kills butchers in tahrongi with ease, but the ambushers and butchers in buburimu slaughter us. hunt sylvestres at about level 13 for great exp. just watch for gobbies.

Dont be fooled, the goblins here, like ambushers, and leechers are harder than any others you've encountered in zones like Tahrongi.
