Description

A den of smugglers and thieves live deep in caves beneath Elshimo Island. Their home, known only as Norg, is a port for the black market of Vana'diel. Reaching Norg requires sneaking past crabs, Sahagins and undead monsters in the dark caverns of Sea Serpent Grotto.

The leader of the Norg pirates, a hume named Gilgamesh, makes his headquarters deep in the underground port city.

Trading potential

Norg is very remote, because of this, it's trading potential is rarely utilized. A lot of odd equipment for Ninjas especially can be purchased here. The Norg AH is linked to the Bastok AH.

Kunai is a good start, though available for a similar price at the Tenshodo HQ. These daggers sell for a premium in Bastok since the Ninja Flag quest ends there. I made about 1200 down to 600/pop for these, though the price has since stabilized at an approximately 400g profit.

Shinobi-gatana are usually a fast sell (for a single-class weapon) as they are used in crafting higher level katanas. I could get about 1.3k profit on these, and the price did not drop from overstock. The alchemy guild is in Bastok and thus a lot of Alchemists live there, which is good for you since you can automatically list your items in the AH after purchasing in Norg. Even with a markup, Alchemists make good money on katanas. +1 katanas sell for insane money, so many alchemists are attracted to this particular route.

Nodachi are a big big moneymaker for me for some reason, they don't seem to drop to Norg price like other Great Katana. This is only true for the Bastok AH.

Ninja scrolls are a popular trading item, and sometimes (if the other local traders have moved up to larger fare) you can make good money reselling scrolls. Hyoton and Raiton are not available in Jeuno, so favor these. Scroll prices can be arbitrary and fickle, so check your AH before buying scroll stock, unless you don't mind learning the spells yourself.

Ninja tools are sometimes tradable, though the prices fluctuate very wildly for reasons I do not understand. Sometimes I see them for 30/each for all six elemental tools, which is a price I can make about 20/each off of. Sometimes, though, the tools go for upwards of 70/each, which obviously is a bad deal.

Like almost all item trading, Norg item trading is not lightning speed, and it has no future. However, trading these items casually over a few weeks can make you quite a bit of money, perhaps enough to get you up to level 40-45.

Related to this subject somewhat...

I had a similar profit from NPC sale to Auction House sale going on between Bastok and Jeuno. Although I am unable to do it anymore since the items are no longer for sale in Bastok.

Travel to Bastok, buy a few Maple Harps for under 100, return to Jeuno, sell for 1k each plus the small service charge. I also used this strategy for fame in Windurst trading Cornettes for a certain quest, although neither of the items sell in the music shop anymore in Bastok.

Hmmm... Whats going on with that??

the bast music shop's inventory changes based on bastok's conquest ranking. for instance, they only sell coronets if bastok is in 1st or second place.
and since bast in the past was almost always last, it stands to reason that these items are rarely sold there

To get this map, you have to find a chest in the Sea Serpant Grotto, with Thief Tools or a Key (dropped by the toughest monsters in the area I believe.) you get the map of the Grotto & Norg.

You get the map for Norg the first time you come here after defeating the shadowlord. When you do this, you will get a cutscene, which is actually Zilart mission 1. The reward is a map of Norg. Chest/Coffer in grotto only gives grotto map.

FYI, when you enter Sea Serpent Grotto, take ALL right turns and stay along the right wall to get to Norg.

There is a door you will need to pass through and can't while invisible. I lucked out every time in that someone always seemed to be exiting through that door at precisely the right moment but you might want to take this into consideration.

Walkthrough

There ain't no Shumi or Moomba's in this Norg just a whole lot of Pirates and Ninjas, in Norg you can do the Ninja scroll quests and also finish off the ninja flag quest.

As mentioned above to get here you must take the Kazham airship, to ride this you have to get three keys and give them to the man at one of the desks in the Kazham air travel agency in Jeuno, if he does not mention the keys then you need to register your Rise of Zilart expansion. The three keys can be found by beating up these

Ghelsba Chest Key - Orcish Fighter, Orcish Cursemaker, Orcish Serjeant
Giddius Chest Key - Yagudo Theoligists, Yagudo Votary, Yagudo Prist
Palbourgh Mines Chest Key - Brass Quadav, Old Quadav

These enemys can only be soloed above level 25 usually but its wise to take a group as you might be linked and die. When in Kazham take the road south down to the outpost in Yuhtanga Jungle, make sure to bring silent oil and put sneak on ourself a ride a chocobo down here, next look around for a hole in the ground and drop down it, keep on walking then you'll see a waterfall, behind this is the entrance to Sea Serpent's Grottoinside apply your silent oil and sneak and stay away from the monsters herekeep taking right turns and eventually you'll find some pillars with torchs blazing follow these to get to Norg.

The maps for the Jungle, Kazham and Norg can be bought off the man in the Chamber of Commerce in Lower Jueno, although the map for the sea serpants grotto is a special treausre that can only be aquired by defeating the hardest monsters in this area and aquiring a treasure chest key, and then finding and opening the treausre chest(where it is i don't know). The monster in here will easyly kill anyone in there 30's if you go by yourself thats why is suggested to take silent oil with you.

If I hear any more silly questions i'll be angry ok? lol :)

If you don't have the map already, buy a map of the Elshimo Area in Jeuno.

Basically, it seems to me, like the way to get to Norg from the Sea Serpant's Grotto, is to follow the left wall once you enter the grotto from Yuntunga.

This is backwards. You want to follow the right wall. Look for a "secret door" (targetable with f8) on your right and keep going.

btw, use Sneak once you get to the bottom of the tunnel entrance. Ironshells, Sahagins, Ghasts will agrro on sound on the way there. Leeches and the bats near the entrance won't. gl^^

They have an auction house and nomad moogles. And that really seems to be about it. Maybe I need more fame, but there were no quests that I could get at this point.

You reach Norg through Khazam.

You can get an airship license for Kazham in one of two ways - either pay 150,000 to the Galkha behind the counter, or give him chest keys from Palborough, Ghelsba, and Giddeus (one of each).

Fly to Kazham, head into the jungle, and go to Sea Serpent Grotto. As shown on the map above, Sea Serpent Grotto leads directly into Norg.

Unfortunately, I tell you anything more than this. I haven't made the trip myself, so I don't know how difficult it is. And the only map of Sea Serpent Grotto that I've seen was in Japanese.

Hehe, the Gardenmaster from FFVIII. Makes me kind of wonder if they will have any creatures that evolve like the shumi did in this area.
