Description
Spreading out to the south of Bastok is the rocky terrain of South Gustaberg. Plentiful with ore, hundreds of tunnels and mine shafts have been dug beneath the earth by Humes and Quadav alike. To the east, the Morhen Lighthouse can be found on the cliffs lining the Bastore Sea, its light guiding the way for the ferries and airships that traverse the area.[1]
Points of Interest
- Notorious monster hunters from all over Vana'diel journey to South Gustaberg for a chance to snare Leaping Lizzy, one of the most well-known creatures in all the land. The scaly monster's Bounding Boots are among the most revered items for adventurers new and old.
- Starting players can gain experience points in this zone.
- Leaving this zone from H-5 leads to the eastern half of North Gustaberg, and the zone at E-6 leads to the western half.

I can see why the boots are 250k on the Efrit server. I camped around j-8 in south gust and came up with 4 stacks of lizard tails without seeing lizzy once. Is j-8 actually the best place to hunt for her or is there a better place to find her? And is there a time or day that she spawns on more then other.
im gonna have to say no... he doesnt spawn anywhere around j-8... your going to be waiting along time, try FFFFFF-8

and one more note...if you constantly kill all the lizards in the spawning zone...Lizzy will usually pop around 20 -30 minutes

All i want to know is where the japanese get their information from...there are many NM's that ive camped and the japanese always seem to know where and when its going to spawn...ive gotten the leaping boots twice...a good strategy is to use Ranger as a sub job and kill every lizard in the zone...use scan untill the lizards spawn again...if lizzy spawns you will know...but there are other NMs that spawn at a givin time and the **** always seem to know...anyone know a good site with good information on this?

I have had a lot of trouble making enough gil for new armor. I have done the steam clock quest countless times but its not fast enoguh and I dont get enough. Today I started hunting for the leaping lizzy at F8 and i could not find one. I was wondering if there is anything special u have to do to make it appear. Such as killing all the liazards around.

I have been wondering the same thing... is it true if you kill lizards it will spawn/spawn faster? Or is it just a rumor i have heard many many times?

I found Leaping Lizzy and got the boots on Jan 4th. I used to hunt Lizzy for hours and killed her over 10 times and never got the boots... well I was on a chocobo going to Bastok for other reasons and I passed Leaper. I was in a panic but successfully got off my bird and attacked it. Nobody was near it. (Odd) Anyways, I closed by eyes and sure enough when I opened them...

I think these NM monsters vary in rarity pending on the server. I am on carbuncle and leaping boots go from 100-300k gil on AH. Although rabbit charms which i have one of go for only 100k, much lower than other servers. This is just a reply and bit of useless knowledge to price of the boots. Now to get myself some Martial Slacks.

Listen guys, Even though you happen to even fight Lizzie doesnt mean you will get the boots. I fought Lizzies in the couse of about 3 hrs last night. Both time she didnt drop anything at ALL. I was pissed! ***** Lizzie.

Same exact thing happened to me today. I have now fought him twice but no boots. I am going to keep trying though. A good way to be able to fight lizzy is to get a long ranged weapon, im using a fire boomarang, ive got the lizzy everytime i have seen it now. The best way to find him is to be a rng or bsm and use wide scan to see all the monsters in the area and have a thf w/ flee. GL

The Leaping Lizard spawns in South Gustaberg. Next time I go hunting I'll get the coordinates. It's around a grassy skinny tall mountianous structure that has a campfire nearby with Quadovs and a load of rock lizards usually. (occasional Vulture, sometimes enchanted bones, and rarely shrapnel)
You should be able to defeat it around level 15-- depending on class and items. My level 16 hume white mage beat it solo w/o too much hassle. (over half MP left for healin)

The coordinates are F-8 arount the green mountain.
All the high level players like to be greedy though and go there just about everyday and wait for it. Give everyone else a chance will ya?

I could really use a pair of leaping boots, and as I don't have 200,000 gil lying around, this seems like it should be a good alternative, but I'm still waiting to find out when and where the darn thing appears!

200,000 Gil!? What server are u on? On Lakshmi they only go for around 10,000....

The entrance to Vomp Hill is on the North side of the hill. Lots of goblins, sheep, and the occasional Black Wolf up there - watch out for the Black Wolves, they're tougher than Checking them suggests.
