Hope this helps others that are lower then what I've been reading , whom have fought this guy.. I was ******** here and still am waiting on some one to come around to help me on my af2 for drg to fight the tiger I seem to not be able to defeat even with my level 60 npc and me being stuck at level 55 because of the cap fight. Well Ahtu was wondering around, and I said what the hell. Because I can zone if it got bad and so went for it, as a 55 redmg/smn. well to be honest it was as easy as the one in junger forest!!! used stoneskin, phalanx, Icespikes, enthunder and haste that's it went down in about a minute in a half. so good luck to ya...
A happy discovery

So I was going for the Stone Monument and happened on this big tree... I /check and it's Impossible to gauge! WOOT NM. So I grab my Selbina Clay, grab a copy of the Monument, and I "GET READY FOR GLORY" (300 quote, if you don't know, ask someone).

(lvl70 WHM) Stoneskin+ Blink+Aquaveil+RR and i rush him. I hit Ahtu with 2 Banish3s and a few other spells before it rips through my stoneskin and i notice I'm down to 50% mp. So I do the smart thing: REPOSE.

Ahtu wakes up once before I get full mp repose works again np. I rebuff, repose one more time and then hit Ahtu with 2 more Banish3s. Bang Key, which is what brings me here happy to discover that I just made 10k and beat an all new NM double woot.

For any who care my divine skill was 234 with all the gear I had and i had capped enfeeb for a lvl70 whm. Repose Paralyze Slow and Flash were never resisted.

BTW: Thanks for gettin me through the gate Chuuuuu
Ahtu!

61SAM/30WAR, to be exact.

Straightforward fight: Hasso -> Berserk -> WS -> Two hour. Plan was to spam 5 Yukikazes in a row and see what was left to mop up. I was surprised to see that I only had the chance to pull off three out of my planned 5 WSs before the tree hit the ground >.<

My first Yukikaze connected for 1051, the second for 1048, third for 748 so I'm guessing that he has about 2,800 or so HP... but do not dismiss him as an easy kill! He hits rather hard, and double attacks are the norm (like most treant mobs). His hits were landing in the 70-80 range for me and at the end of the fight he had managed to rip me down to 742/1310 HP.

After failing and dying trying to do part of G3 solo I felt I had to do something on my list that I would succeed with before logging off. I put on /rdm for sneak/invisible and decided to check up on Ahtu. There is always ppl in the area to help out with the switches. As a BLU 56 he didnt cause too much trouble, was about half on hp, ended the fight with a fusion and a bomb toss mb. I had a tavnasian taco that was sitting alone in my inv so I ate that before the fight.
A blu could probably solo this NM a level or maybe even 2 before I did.

I got an esort to the eldimie entrance, but ran off to see if the tree was up and died very quick lol. Doesnt take that many hits on a taru.
Can see him from across the way...

I never realized 'til lately that you can see this NM from across the ocean area. I've tried several times before and couldn't see it, but I was waiting for a friend and all of a sudden it popped on the island. Not really helpful information I am providing here. Just thought it was cool.

I was doing the stone monument thing and Ahtu was there so I decided to try to solo it. I was a BRD69/WHM34, which isn't really the greatest solo job, but I decided to give it a try anyway.

First off, I buffed with protect II/shell and ate a meat jerky (only food on me) and got back all my mp. Then I used Valor Minuet IV and Army Paeon IV. I cast lullaby on Ahtu and ran to the zone in case I had trouble. When Ahtu came to me I cast Carnage Elegy and Foe Requiem VI on it.

So I started attacking it, and it had a surprisingly high accuracy. Hit me almost everytime, and when I got down to maybe 800 HP (1070 max) I used Cure III and got back to full hp. My songs wore off, and I decided since it had a high accuracy and I was a weak bard I'd just give up, so I zoned back to Eldieme.

I came back out a minute later and Ahtu was still sitting there and Requiem had taken off a huge chunk of its hp so I decided to try again. I buffed myself and just cast elegy on it. For whatever reason, this time it never hit me. After a minute or two and one other Cure III I was down to 750 hp and Ahtu was dead.

Not hard at all.

I just killed him as BRD68/WHM34, although my strategy was Protect2/Shell/Blink/Stoneskin then using Ballad1-2. Pulled him with Elegy, then slow, paralyze, requiem, and dia. Kept chopping at him with my sword. Wasn't bad until he got to about 50% then he started ripping through stoneskin. I kept putting it back up, and afterwards did Ballad1-2. At about 25% health I was down to around 500, divine seal and cure3. Burn tp about twice. Got him and left with around 800 from 1190. Was a rough fight. (Bard) (Incredibly Tough)
Indeed

54 Drg/blu Metallic Body (useless i think it took off 20 points of damage i hate that spell) and Cocoon (fantastic spell probably took off 10 hp per hit lol) anyway it was fun still had 1/2 my MP at the end of the fight my hp was about 300 but thats where drg/mage lives Fun fight got my AF2 too while i was out there :D but the reward for the quest sucks :X

Solo'd as 60pld/25whm

Very easy fight. Used usual protect/shell, plus blink and aquaveil. Full rest, never got below 1/2mp, used cureIII twice and a third time with divine seal.

As a White Mage 66 / Black Mage 33, I defeated this monster earlier today. While Ahtu himself is capable of hitting hard, most of these problems can be avoided with sufficient Stoneskin and Regen.

I feel I should note two critical differences between WHM66 and WHM62 which were most likely crucial to my success: Protect IV and Regen III. While I did finish this fight with 243 MP to spare (out of a pool of approximately 840), I also cast virtually nothing but Haste, Stoneskin, Blink and Regen III. (Of course, before I engaged, I cast Reraise II as well as Protect IV/Shell III and proceeded to heal to full.)

Also, I began the fight with a Bind and a Dia II, which seemed to help. The Bind is not critical if you plan to engage anyway, but in the event you can't pull off a spell due to interuptions, Bind or Sleep may help you buy the time to put up Stoneskin and Regen again, if only because they are easier to get off between hits.

Good luck everyone who tries this!

I think that if we play as a whm/blm on this one we need a potion that restores our MP pretty much all the way. With my low weapon skills i can get this thing down to about 20-25% left before i run out of MP. I tried 3x to kill this thing th other night. I stared at this NM for almost 2.5 hours, and let me tell you, that thing got uglier by the minute lol. And all the times i fought it differently and the end results were prety much the same. The next time i am out there, that is what i am gonna try, so good luck to all you whm's that try to attempt to kill this thing, i feel for ya. And if you are no sure you can handle it alone bind it or sleep it at first then head close to the zone just in case you can't :-P
eek.

54WHM/27BLM?

Don't even try it. >.> I slept him, cast paralyze, slow, etc. on him as well as Regen II, Haste, Stoneskin, Blink, and Aquaveil on me. I got him down to 89% of his health before I bailed out with my tail between my legs. ^_^;;
Easy Prey.

Went to get my stone monument rub last night after memorizing the way through The Nercropolis from maps on Somepage. I decided I would give him a go. Buffed up with Blink and Stoneskin, through on Shock Spikes for grins, hit him with 1200 Flare, Sleep II, manafont, Burst for 1115, and Finished him with 587 Firaga II. He took one shadow off whole time. Extreamly Easy, BLM can do this easy. Didnt need AM really at all or Manafont, but since i had never seen him in action, i wasnt gonna take any chances. BLM 60

Had no idea how tough it might be, so I was a little nervous and buffed up. I owned it pretty hard XD.
Fire IV > Bind > Fire III > Sleepga II > Fire IV.
Dropped the key only.

I solo'd this as a 53 RDM, but I probably could have done it earlier. Anyway it gave me 86 exp, it seemed like a high DC or EM.

I did the standard RDM soloing method. Blink -> Stoneskin -> Refresh -> Fire 2 -> Sleep 2 -> Rest for 1 tick -> Repeat.

I was looking for my Eldieme coffer but found this island, so decided to solo it. It hit me for a bit over 100 with stoneskin down and each Fire 2 did about 7-10% to him. Wasn't too hard to bring him down. Both Fire 2 and Sleep 2 were never resisted.

I just finished soloing Ahtu as a 54 THF/NIN. Gave me 61 xp.

I nearly died the first time and had to Flee to zone, exiting with 32 hp. The second time I faired MUCH better after using a scroll of Reraise ... yeah, had to sleep Ahtu and run for my life with 47 hp!

Third time was easily the charm!

Strategy: sleep the mo-fo as much as possible.

Cast Utsusemi then I charged up SATA and used a Silent Oil, snuck up behind him did SATA with my DEX rings on. Macro'd in my Sniper's rings for ranged accuracy and started whacking away at him.

As soon as he went through my shadows and slept him again, then put up Utsusemi once more. Another sleep and I'd use SATA on him from behind.

Rinse and repeat, tossing in a Cyclone now and then when I had the TP to do so. He died a horrible death and I never even broke a sweat. Before I tried to use bloody bolts and get all fancy, this time I just slept him like Bitoso, singlehandedly.

My Cyclones averaged 115 points and my SATA (okay, actually only just SA) went from 280-325.

My marksmanship is only at level 151, probably about 10 from cap? Not sure. But I wouldn't try this as a thief with lower than 150 marksmanship if you're going to rely on sleep bolts like I did.

Good luck to all of you lower level solo'ers!!
