Took my lvl 30 war/12 mnk into the wadi to do the drachenfall quest. When I finished that, I wandered over to the NE spawn point, and started to clear the area. I got bored, so I wandered to the SW spawn area and there was the geyser lizard. Man that guy is huge! Nobody had claimed him, so I boosted a couple times and went in. We were pretty much neck and neck even with my 2 hour, until he reached half HP. Then I started countering every one of his attacks, and he hit the ground fast. I only lost about half my HP. He gave me 50 exp (probably lv 28), a fire crystal, and the steam armor. I lept for joy!
Okay my take on this Lizard:
- First of all, you don't Sneak Attack this thing by sneaking up on it. It 'does' aggro by sound, and this hurt my lv. 35 Thief badly.
- I tried him with a friend at 25 and we got spanked. Suggest you be level 35 or higher to solo.
- Bumped into him the other day as my Thief farming the wadi at 35. Used my 2-hr and gust slashed the hell outta him. Baleful gaze sucked but I won with 18hp to spare. No drop... *&%$!
- When you see him do not rest up, as it loves to go back into it's pool after a few minutes.
- I've always seen it appear when a geyser erupts, all four times I've seen it.
- Once again, it will wander back into it's geyser home if you leave it be.

i was running around with my friend killing wadi rabbits when it popped up, i was 27 mnk and he was a 20 rdm. I said why not lets give it a shot, used my two hour, but i survived, got an egg from it too.

I was lvl 21 war/10 thf and he surprised ive been killed like nothing its kinda strong for a lizard
i came back lvl 25 with a blm 25 and killed it

Hmm... I'm considering going after this with 2 friends~

Killed 3 times dropped 2 times yay for me lol. Iunno when it spawns i just ran to check for the hell of it and killed it. First time was doing drachenfall water quest second i was just checking for the hell of it. 3rd who knows who cares. Also been able to get the other lizzy to drop two boots for me to. So I think the lizzies like to drop for me.

I used to be level 36 when i started camping this, i got bored and went downstairs to watch some tv, i came back upstairs and i was dead... i wasnt sitting down to heal either.
I've camped this guy MANY times. He's about level 30-32, don't listen to anyone else. Most the times I've fought him as a level 30 Galka Warrior, sometimes I take him out, other times he kills me. Each time I had to use my 2 Hr, though.
He appears when the Geyser blows. Each spot has a geyser...if one blows, but the area is crowded with mobs, he'll spawn at the other spot, or not spawn at all. Like I said, I've tested this theory..it's true. He NEVER spawns without the Geyser blowing first. The armor is nice...
Most the times I killed him, it was solo, but I went back one time with a THF and another WAR, we laid him out easy each time. We got the Steam Scale Mail 2 times in a row. Now that I have my Dragoon to 36, I've come back..he wont show....chicken =) Anyway, the armor sells for like 15k on Alexander.

I was raising skill levels on the mugger/gambler/leecher gobs as a 30 warrior, and all of a sudden, this thng aggroes me while I'm healing up. Buggar petrified me, and took me down.
So I come back as a 51 drg/war, and drop his sorry tush, and nab a scale male. =P
I thought Galka were pretty big...but this thing's face was bigger 'n my chest. He petrified me, at which point my wyvern started tanking, lol.
Fun fight, not a bad reward. Nice to have somethin' like this in Bastok's backyard.
So I come back as a 51 drg/war, and drop his sorry tush, and nab a scale male. =P

He seems to be on a 2hour spawn timer, he can spawn in either of the two places marked above, and after like 30 seconds or a few minutes maybe, he despawns (just disappears), I don't know anything about any geyser eruptions.
I saw him pop once at 11:05 earth time, then again at exactly 1:05 (they were in different areas, but I am not sure if it is alternating). I got him on track both times, and just as I got there he disappeared, no one else killed it since the first time it had a yellow name, the second there was only a bunch of level 10's and a couple level 18's in the zone. I don't know that I could have killed him since I had a level 3 ranger sub at the time, I was also a little weak both times, but was ready to jump in and give it a shot.
I was lucky enough to kill him the day before just wandering onto him by chance, he is pretty tough at 37/18 thf/war with kabobs, gave me 18exp, so he was probably about 30, didn't seem like much more then a high easy at best and I didn't even manage to get in a sneak attack, not any worse then a malboro or walking tree. He never plauge breathed me, but that is a nasty special I first learned to fear in the highlands, I always carry a few antidotes since then. He dropped me a Steam Scale Mail when I killed him =)
If you see him, come back just a little before 2 hours later and look for him again, he could spawn in either area, so make sure to have two people to check both. Steam lizards have nothing to do with it afaik, they don't even spawn in the same areas, all the spawns where he does are L15-20 beastmen and Wadi Hares in the south and L20-25 beastmen and snippers in the north.

I was in the wadi doing some chores and saw this lizzy (didnt realise it was NM, the name made me suspect though) conned it and it was impossible so i went at is, yes it does have a lot of mp but i was ok (sam40/war20) i was hitting 100+ a time and it barely made a dent but luckily it didnt hit me much anyway.
nothing at all on the first time i fought it, then wondering about saw it again and got a skin and a steam scale set.

Heh, same thing happened to me. Thankfully I was fairly low lvl for Wadi, otherwise I probably would have taken him on and gotten slaughtered. I'll come back one day when I'm all grown up and kill him :)

Encountered the Lizard solo today in the Wadi. Fought it with a 35 War/17 Thf. Busted out Berserk, Warcry, Sneak Attack and even Mighty Strikes. After several Sneaked Fast Blades, he went down hardcore. He has tons of Hit Points, but with some perserverance, I busted a cap in its lizard butt. He got me down to roughly half of my Hit Points. I would highly recommend bringing a partner along for the ride, preferably a magic user. Treasure Hunter trait DOES matter in this case since I saw a couple of posts saying no Steam Scale Armor drops. Hopes this helps out.

Killed it with a party of 3,we camped the spawn for about an 1 hour at E-7 and it spawned. Was fairly easy with me 28THF , 24WAR,and 23THF. First drop we got it, but I only casted a 51 Lot on it =( oh well.

I am a Lv 30 WHM/BLK and I was power-leveling my friend in Wadi. We found it on the way back, and since I saw that a 30 WHM/THF soloed it, I figured we could give it a shot (he is lv 15THF). Got whooped. :(

Is there a certain time that he pops up. and if so does anyone know what times they might be.
Challenged him tonight... 30thf with a 27 rdm friend... Good thing my friend was there or he'd have eaten me alive! We spent two hours camping the golden bats, killing them twice with no luck and decided to move on to this lizard. My RDM friend wanted the steam scale mail... After two hours of waiting and sitting we got lucky... He appeared shortly after the geyser spouted, and he was taller than I was (mithra)!!! We killed him with some small problems and one near death experience. He did drop the Scale Mail which I happily passed to my friend, and he says I am now officially a Goddess. :)

ok so i was there waiting for NM on a darksday new moon i fished for a while wasting time gyser erupts and i get ready well before hand i but 3 potions and antidote because i heard it has a mean plague breath so i go i battle it and i am a 30/war/15 thief I had 300 TP and did double thrust/beserk to get alot of dammage in i got him down to 3/4 he was hitting me really ast so i decide to do my 2 HR still no luck down to 1/2 hp i started using my potions all three down to 1/4 ok i hit him as much as i can tried to streal nothing then oe more hit and i would die. I start to panic luckily i had 93 tp and got in on ehit and quickly did my double thrust again to kill it. One more hit and i wouldve been a goner. all that work and you know what i got a LIZARD SKIN!!!!
I challenged this beast tonight, took almost 4 hours and 2 geyser eruptions for him to spawn, nobody usually camps him, especially at E/F-7, I was a lvl 30 war/8 rng and got killed, i did massive damage to him though, used my 2 hour and everything. maybe if i had used my 30 WAR/14 RDM combo i wouldve had more of a chance at him. after i got killed i raced back to the wadi to see if he was still there and he wasnt, i guess he only stays there for a short period of time :/

I just happened upon him tonight, killed him easily level 42 warrior is great. Dropped a piece of damn leather :(

I had just gotten my thief to 15 for treasure hunter and decided to go to Dangruf Wadi to farm some globin parts and grasses from the hare. I went further north in search of the treasure chest and found the Geyser Lizard at H-3 instead. My warrior was level 33 at the time and I killed it with using my 2hr and had 50% HP left. I was so excited to obtained the Steam Scale Mail. The following week, a blm friend and I decided to camp it out again. We were chatting along and just as we got there, I saw a giant lizard at E-7 and realized it was the NM. We killed it and got the Steam Scale Mail, sold it for 23K and split the gils. I've heard of from the other topics that certain level does affect whether the NM drops the rare item or not. I fought the Leaping Lizard and it dropped nothing. I was so excited to fight it but was very disappointed after the kill.

Geyser errupted about 3 hrs after fighting lizard for the first time and it didn't pop. I checked both spawn spots after the geyser errupted. I don't think the geyser affects the NM spawn.

After just hunting around in dangruf i stopped at E7 to maybe catch a glimpse at the NM and get grass in the meantime. I was there for about 10 minutes and the geyser errupted and there was the lizard. I'm a 36drg/18war and he got me down to about 250 hp. Had poison on me and it killed me from 250 hp! He didn't drop anything either.
