I can't imagine why you're all so upset with not getting the NM.
It's a rare spawn, and even a more rare drop for the monster signa, you can't expect to just get it like that. Even after waiting for 5 hours. If it was like that, the price would've drop to like 10k at most?.

I can't imagine why you would think killing this guy almost 50 times (at a pop rate of about 2 hours) that somebody would be mad, like I am, when I don't get the drop and there's 8 of these on jeuno's AH for about 10 times the amount of money I have.

Started reading up about camping NMs and which ones to camp today... i decided to go to Giddeus and camp Hoo Mjuu the Torrent for the Monster Signa. When i got to the right place there was a pop about 10 minutes later, which was claimed by the other guy. Then it was a wait for two hours.. then when it popped some guy was just running past when it popped.. he engaged but couldn't hit it as it was moving. I was able to voke and started the fight against my first actual NM. Got the Monster Signa drop first time. :D:D Is it really that easy i thought... btw i was using 30WAR/15THF and am on Fairy.

i am 75 drg main, leveling 47 bst now, i wanted a signa but cant afford it so i deide to camp for it. get there 30 mins pop, claim, drops deoderize, 1hr later pop claim zelots mitts......... FIVE yes FIVE hours later pops claim z.mitts.... if they are gonna make me wait 5 hours for a friggin pop at least drop what i came to get. i was the only one there who actually needed it to use and i got all the claims while i was there... but this is just rediculis.
this guy is the reason im lvl'n thf to 15, so i gotta stop my conquest to wear my okote and lvl some n00b job

Ok I've been camping Torrent for a few days now and he's been MIA alot!!! Me and the others in the camp area have been killing everything in sight, even the bees and when go like three pop windows (repop usually ever hour to hour and a half). So imagine we allow for the longest repop time of hour and a half and doing that three times and not one show from Torrent!! >.< At this point idk what to think or expect maybe its the server or maybe i missed the forum post about how "fickle" Torrent can be to make his curtain call. It be one thing if we missed the PH but we dont we kill EVERYTHING in that entire section and nothing. Is there something we arent doing? or is anyone else having this problem?

I've been camping him for weeks, killed him nearly 40 times and yet still no monster signa.

Also on top of that i find him very hard to claim, I can't tell which mendicant is the place holder.
Just in case, i kill all the yags in sight anyway.
Is there some sort of trick to getting the drop?
Does it have to be a certain day?
All i seem to get are scrolls of deodorize and Zealots mitts.

i dont like hoo mjuu! as a 23blm i went up against him and had to use my 2 hr. only because he was about to die and used benediction! healed himself for 400 health... and he was doin 30 to 40 damage on me... so anyways i finally kill him and all he gave me was the freakin mitts... all i want is the signa so i can continue lvling bst.

Thought I'd share my experiences of camping Hoo, good and bad.
On Phoenix he's generally camped but you quite often get the area to yourself - no botters from what I can tell.
Got my first drop after a long week of camping - 1/13/17 (drops/claims/pops), lowest pop time was an hour, highest 2.5. Obviously went mental first time I got it! Used RDM 32, so with Fastcast with Dia is pretty quick and range good enough once you work out how far you have to run to get in range, usual <stnpc> on macro. Second drop today, was camping him while farming yag bling and beehive chips in Giddeus. Finally got round to getting Treasure Hunter, 1/7/10 after a few days on second camp. Mostly deoderise scrolls otherwise but enough Zealot's Mitts to keep me happy. Just a shame the price dropped from 30k to 10k in last three weeks :(.
There is a pattern to the Mendicant PHs, just not sure what it is yet. They normally spawn in pairs, I think when they spawn in 3s one of them must be the place holder but that's not helped me predict when he's gonna show. What I have seen after 27 pops is that he can pop anywhere from right up north to down south and anywhere in between, I've seen 9 spawn points in total. There doesn't seem to be any consistency between previous spawns on the next one though, maybe if you can work out which of the mendicants is the PH when three spawn that's the key. I know you can spot a pattern with Stray Mary so maybe there's a trick to this, the spawn area is so small I've never used widescan for fear of missing him.
What got me first time I camped him was the fact that there were other campers who were really friendly, offering /cheers for the people who got the claim and plenty of /comforts when nothing dropped. Broke the tedium nicely. In stark contrast I logged out last night and logged back in this morning, Hoo spawned right in front of me 5 seconds later. Hit the macro and got the claim. No drop, but I then got a torrent of abuse from someone who had been camping him. I'd never seen this guy the few days I'd been there so no idea how long he'd been camping him, but he refused to believe it was luck I logged in when I did and accused me of botting. I can understand his frustration but it really riles me when people can't be happy for other people's good fortune. Just because people get lucky e.g. run to the right place at the right time, or are just good NM hunters doesn't make them RMTs or botters.
500k at the moment in Jeuno so with the other drops I got that's me sorted for a good while - I'll be back to visit again soon though :D.

i know what u mean on people accusing you of botting...a friend of mine gave me a emperors hairpin for camping a empress hairpin for him....dont ask why he just wanted the rare/ex O.o anyways after a few days i decide to pop the emperors in the AH and as im sittin in jueno bored i decide hell ill camp VE get rng sub and get a friend to teley dem me....grab a chocobo and run to the pop area where 20sum people are camping it....so i start spam checking widescan...and im keeping my chocobo cause he has such a wide pop area theres so many people there and i was sam/rng....5mins there he pops i take off after him jump off my chocobo kill VE get the empress pin as a rng/nin gets there mybe 15secounds after i claim it and he starts spaming that i warp haxed to get claim aka he got lazy and i snaged it....

Nobody cares about your drop rates / "OMG LOL I RAN BY SAW IT KILLED IT AND GOT DROP" stories. People check this for information on the NM
•50min-3H after last death, usually 60-90 minutes
•pops anywhere on the upper ledge
•drop rate can be really good or really bad, this could mean moon phase plays a greater role on drop rate than other NMs. it also could mean some people are just really unlucky.
•placeholders are indeed mendicants, but if you kill everything up there in one ws/spell, it'll throw everyone off when everything pops at once. Also, you can time it and be ready for it and flee a few seconds before.

How much does the monster signa sell for?
On Asura in jeuno it sells for roughly 1 mill, and i was wandering wheather there was a large variation in price on different servers

im 1/1 with this he there were 4 ppl camping and i had a good macros {42rdm/21blm} it was 1st line /targetnpc 2nd line /ma "Posion" <t> and tht targets the nearest npc to you and casts the spell u wnt, so i didnt have to scroll thro every1 to get to him, was rather pleased killed it with 3 hits {Stone II, Water II, and Shining Blade} didnt have time to benediction got the signa and now im gunna use it for my Bst
This happened the night ToAU came out. My pre-ordered copy was supposed to come in the very night it was released... didn't happen. So... I came here... 0 people in zone. Swept by his pop area, and came back... there he was. I guess he felt bad for me, for not having the expansion pack... so he dropped his signa, and I went on my merry way.

I figured, what the hell, why not camp Hoo for some extra money. Figured amazing luck if I get the staff, but the mitts I could use. Anyways, forgot the pop spot (>.<) and wandered around for a bit. I saw Juu Dzu the Whirlwind and got me some Light Soleas then finally rememberd the pop spot so I went there. 4 1/2 hr camp, no gilsellers (^^) but another BLM camper. A war came halway thru, then within 30 mins of the pop a SAM came, and a WHM. Popped right behiind the SAM, whoi didnt see it, and I voked the claim. Benedictioned at 1/10 health, wasnt sure I was going to kill it but then the whm was nice and gave me a CureIV ^^. Killed, and it dropped the staff. Now the lucky-*** 32 RDM newbie...has 5mil + gil when this staff sells. No other drops.

Camped this on Ifrit for about two hours, and usually log off at the spot so when I check before work it doesnt take long. The same RMT cfcfygjjvgvv is always there. Doesnt move for about an hour then goes to right spot every time. 24/7 this guy is on. Really makes this game retarded.

No he was not full of it and no he was not using a 3rd party app. It is possible, but he is a noob camper by needing all the mobs there to find out which one was PH. I don't know if there is a widescan trick to find PH like there is with LL and VE, but widescan is not needed to find PH. To tell you the truth he may not have known, and was just messing with you too.
If someone is there doing that next time, just watch for which one he pays extra attention to. I feel there is a way to find out what the PH is on 95% of the NMs out there if not 100%.
