some new pointers to camping Hoo Mjuu:
Placeholder: 1 of the 4 yagudo medicants(haven't found out how to find which is real ph but it is confirmed that there is only 1 PH). try using scan to find ph i think thats how you find it the easiest.
Placeholder repop: about 8min or 3.20 game hours exactly. every 3.20 game hours either the yagudo medicant or hoo mjuu will spawn.
When camping it's a good idea to sub a job with radar(preferably bst for charm too)

Spawned after 5.5 hours. It popped right in front of me. For some reasone it wouldnt let me cast flash on him (im not sure if this is a new thing SE decided to add or if I never noticed it before) so i had to chace it around trying to hit him with my sword and of course someone else who has only been there for 5 min. gets him before me.

SE made a change to how NMs are claimed by preventing anyone from claiming the mob at the moment it pops. They did it to prevent NMs from 'spawning purple'.
spawn just took 3 hrs 45 min, yes i timed it.
1/16 woohooo and it was a few days after my bday hoo mjuu must have known!

I just got monster signa today. 1/1 on this and if anyone on Pandemonuim send me a /tell. I figured out a way to beat this bot, strategy works 99% of the time, but it only works if this one bot is there. Stopping gil sellers one mob at a time. Btw signa worth 1-1.1 mil as of today.

Don't speak too loud before SE changes Hoo too. This is by far my FAVORITE NM to camp and my favorite thing to do online. I make gil just camping Hoo from the bees.
Not hard to see that Mendicants are the placeholders for this NM. The gilsellers that camp this NM on Asura just gave that away.
I'll edit this post after I get more details on their timing.... But it looked as if the two of them only used flee every 10 minutes or so, even though other Mendicants were spawning around them.

I have killed this guy 8 times and gotten 6 drops. 3 of the times i killed im sure it was the same spot, i got the drop. Im not gunna say where tho. But i will say there i only one placeholder for him, so if u can just find the one u can time his spawn everytime

Go to H-7 from the left entrance. There is a hole in the floor. You can't see it but it is where the grasses are.

Well, I recently hit 1/50 on Hoo Mjuu, so I decided to share the info I've gathered on this very very evil NM. >;p (I'm celebrating my 50th kill, my drop was on the 21st kill.)
Where?
If you're hunting down this elusive NM, first you must find its spawn area. Which I dont think anyone has ever found any way other than asking for help. (as I did, my very first time *remembers*)
Zone: Giddeus Pos: H-9, H-10

But, as many find out, this is an elevated area that can only be found by dropping down a hole... Lost yet? :P (Drop down a hole.. to a place above you!? Crazy, yes.)
The hole is located at H-7 in the middle of the circular room. (where the grass is, in the cave)
When?
Hoo Mjuu is one of those evil NMs where unless you know the startegy of how it pops, you'll probably be utterly lost when camping it.
The "rules":
- It will take at LEAST 55 mins for it to pop again, no 5 min pops here.
- It can take OVER 5 hours for a pop. I've killed it 50 times and seen many more pops, this has happened to me twice, and twice only. (it didn't drop signa either times, and took 6 hours both times)
- Generally the max pop time is 3 hours.
I'll first show you an average day at Mjuu. (time wise)
2:40 First pop, no idea about previous pops.
3:42 Second pop, 1 hour and 2 mintues.
5:45 Third pop, 2 hours and 3 minutes.
7:36 Fourth pop, 1 hour and 51 minutes.
8:40 Fifth pop, 1 hour and 4 minutes.
Please, before you say that I have no life, I saw these 5 pops (and claimed 3 of them :3) and never spent more than 3 hours camping it.
Here is an adjusted time slot..
2:30 I arrive
2:40 Hoo Mjuu the Torrent
2:43 I log out

3:40 I log in
3:42 Hoo Mjuu the Torrent

I personally used my first drop with my brd, but sold it once I quit bard. After that I've been camping it for my bst, and if I ever see a bst or brd camping I /cheer them on. This item is really good for those jobs, but, its not required.
I'm highly surprised these sell anymore for 600k. (Leviathan price) Given how many are on the market, and the # of brds and bsts.
If you get drop, beware, I've noticed on Leviathan there are usually 3-5 up for auction, DO NOT undercut. But, it it is going for a solid 600k, feel free to slip it in for 598k.
590k would be undercutting for me, and 595k would be getting low.

I've camped with thfs, and I only got my drop solo as a rng/bst. (bst for charm claim)
I've also tried using a 4 leaf mandy bud before I killed.. Deodorize.
And I've also tried killing it before it does benediction, and after benediction.. To end the rumor once and for all my one drop was after benediction. <.>

The only drops possible are:

It doesn't drop anything else.. maybe crystal.. (I dont camp it and get exp to say the least)

By this image You can see what I call the "primary" spawn points. The blue dots are where most people camp, and probably the best spots to camp. Two of the blue dots are on cliffs, and one is in the middle of the "L" spawn area.
You can see every spawn from these spawns.. give or take 1-2, which can be devestating if you dont notice. (you can be sitting there for hours after it spawned)
They dont notice the farthest spawns on each side. That's why I HIGHLY recommend going whatever/bst.. Bst for claim and widescan, at 13 bst sub I could see the entire spawn from any of the primary spots, and the widescan isn't so large that its hard to find things.
The one spot that fools so many people is the one on the path, because if Mjuu pops there you have to be fairly close to see. Which is why a small widescan is perfect, because you can just pop up widescan and look for Mjuu.
Or, you could do something like <insert claim job>/rng or rng/claim. But, I find the rng widescan a hassle, because its so large, and a HUGE disttration.. At 37 rng I could see Whirlwind (another, pratically uncamped NM) when it popped.. and its hard to not go running to it. Even if its drop 30k tops.
And, as far as where its going to pop.. I once thought I knew how to predict it... I can't, whenever I think I have it down, it throws a curve ball, so to speak. Dont try to plot where it spawns, that much is luck.
Anyways, that's all I can think of for now... Good luck on Hoo Mjuu the Torrent...
And please dont complain about you going 0/13, I've seen people 0/50+. And people go 3/7.. which makes me sick. Consieringly how many ppl get their hopes dashed. /comfort for those people.

I just wanted to comment on widescan. As a 50bst, it can be a bit of a hassle as well, even if it is much smaller than what Rngs have to deal with.
To deal with it, I use the remote scan option, then zoom the map down to minimize the range scanned before I look at what's poppin. ^^ Sure, this takes a sec, but it still beats scrollin through 4 or 5 pages' worth of mobs.

Anyways, I've noticed in general. Short Spawn -> Long. Long -> Short. But, there have been spawns that I missed because I was too late because it was Short -> Short. Kinda like a sine/cosine graph.. Sometimes its even like a tangent. I'm not perfect. ;)
Sorry for the 'geeky' terms. Do a goole image search if you have yet to learn about trig. ;)

I went to camp Vuu Puqu Beguiler (Bird Whistle) for bard cuz im cheap and -20k wont get me closer to scorpion harness. so i find vuu puqu standing beside a galka corpse and knock it around (2hred in 1 hit lol) and on way back find a taru camping hoo mjuu/farming yag necks for fame. we {Team up?} and it spawns inside him, drops deodorize. later on i come back and he spawns 3 steps in front of me, i claim thinking its a mendicant :O this time drops Zealot mitts, but hey, more bard gear ^^ believe me, mighty Torrent, i shall have your signa!

Is this a rare drop for this mob? I've seen the mask, which is mostly tribute junk, and judging by the stats on this weapon with only a recomended lvl of 45, it would seem that this does not drop that often. Got lucky I guess if it is a rare drop, picked it up last night. Great addition to my 47 WAR, 2hs is a skill I need to work on anyway:) I'm also glad it's not attunable, was thinking about starting a BER.

This guy is camped a lot now. I mean there were always a handful of people there. But the sellers, and other campers have migrated here since the Rare/ex change.

Killed him for the seventh time yesterday. Oce again he feels I am not worthy to recieve the Signa -_-;; 0/7 on Signa. 1/7 on gloves. 3/7 on Deodorize -.- Not a total aste of time though, if you time yourself right, and have a partner, you can wipe out all of giddeus. 63whm and me as 43monk/thf farmed giddeus, killing all yags in a trainfrom bottom to top, then he got both NMa, one after the other, besides Hoo. We got Bird Whistle, then Light soleas, then after about 30 minutes of waiting, i claimed Hoo with a lucky chi blast, spawned right in front of me in the northern end of his spawn zone, hes spawned there every time for me^ ^ Too bad we cant get any damn signas ><

Question---- I was fighting a mandragora of some sort... and it dropped a 'four leaf mandragora bud'.
It says in its description that it brings luck. Does that increase the chance of the drop if i have it in my inventory?
