Spawn Area
# Nov 17 2004 at 12:50 PM Rating: Decent
I am a career camper of Rams for the last 9 lvls ive spent as THF, and the map is a bit off, the spawn zone is more like (E-7)-(I-9) follow the road, running that area will most likely catch you any spawn, the NM and HNM especialy like the left side of the map.

This is based on my experiences helping a few MNK friends with the belt quests. So if you see otherwise im sorry.

He is also quite easy to solo early 30's aslong as he doesnt use the HP Max Down ability, The Great Bleet.

Jus so u know u r right about Battering rams spawning in more than the circled position but Lumbering Lambert/Bloodtear Baldruf only spawn in those spots in the circled area.
nm experience

K in this rare occasion this is 1 nm that is WAY stronger than its stated lvls. I know most r stronger than their lvl but cmon this 1 is ridiculous (i think its because rams r a stronger mob in general) My 1st encounter with this guy was my 1st ever with an nm by accident of course (i thought it was a freakin battering ram) and i was a lvl 31 war. Even though my higher lvl drk friend was in a pty with me he was a distance away and he said NOOOOO when i used my voke macro on it, then i realized it was lumbering lambert. I got scared cause it was kickin my *** but my friend came at the last second and knowing my mistake he called for help so a high lvl helped and kicked his ***. (no drops of course) Since then i seen lambert many times except when i was in a position to actually kill it or it was taken but then 1 day me and a friend were in a pty and this time i got it but i pulled it to my friend this time^^ The dam thing was raping my hp though and i died before i got to my friend. Then a lvl 40 thf took it and he got killed (this is what i mean by WAY stronger than its lvl since its only like 27><) but by then my rng friend was there and he reclaimed it again over a drg??? WTF! 1 hit later it died and we gots lots of drops including the horn so it was worth my abused war dying for :) Well thats my lambert story and of course the battering rams r the placeholders but since ive never hunted lambert before im not sure the time of its spawn. I heard it was an hr for lambert than the next hr was bloodtear baldruf and they keep alternating. So that concludes my long *** lambert story. Btw i also tried to kill lambert as a 33 war for a joke using 2hr and ws but i hit red hp and he was not even hlf killed yet so i dis and a high lvl finished it off. NOTE>>ive also seen lambert in H-8 between the mountains since its not circled on the map .

No he really is that level. Just level 30 wars arent your ideal NM campers... especially if the mob is near the same level as them
RE: nm experience
# Nov 25 2004 at 11:53 PM Rating: Decent
Im not arguing with the lvl jus saying that my war can solo pretty much every other lvl 27 nm (or even a little higher) cept this 1.
RE: nm experience
# Dec 02 2004 at 3:08 AM Rating: Decent
this one may be a 27-28nm, but it would con at least T-VT to a 30war; I tried it with my thf when I was at 35 and managed to get on a chocobo with only 14hp let.
Impossible to Gauge

Ive camped this guy twice with luck, but not the right kind. First time i was lvl 18mnk with my lvl 45th brother, we were there for 3 hours and no spawn, then I see a huge ram on the screen. But it was only Bloodtear... After a fea lvl 40's tried to fight it one at a time(and dying one at a time) a LS killed it.

Next time camping it i was 36mnk. I killed rams for about an hour with no pop, then out of the corner of the screen i see a huge horn. I had just about pressed the voke macro when i saw the name... it was Bloodtear again. I have HORRIBLE luck with lambert.
I did get lucky with Rampaging though. After camping Rampaging for about 5 min i see a lvl 45 thf turn on flee and run towards one of the span points. He claimed Rampaging, but died with about 3/4 of the way through and i killed it after that and got the horn.

It happened again today. I was there for about an hour, then he spawned. A LS killed it in about a half hour. Then 10 min later i finally got lambert! He was no problem for a 36mnk, didnt even have to 2 hr.

^ ^ I was a 33RNG going into my fight with him. Had been watching a RDM of equal or slightly higher level solo him, and then die when Lambert had just a sliver of life.
Others were around, so I whipped off a shot without thinking. I had already been affected by Max HP Down thanks to him, but that didn't matter so much-- Or so I thought. I went straight to my job abilities and tried to click Eagle Eye Shot-- 15 minutes till (don't ninja 2hr deathwarp, it's just not worth it ; ;)! Well crap! So when I frantically try to get to Barrage, he goes and Petrifies me.
Do I need to explain what happened next? ^ ^ At least when I deleveled I had a free trip back to Jeuno where several bats and worms were nice 25exp per fodder for a few minutes at Qufim.

Moral of the story: Don't do what I did.

Revenge will be mine.

Faught Lambert about two days ago. Was just farming Rams for some gil, but was hoping to get him as well and i did. I was a 41/1 mnk/rng started the battle with chi blast just to get mob. Was hitting him for about 110 and Raging Fists got him for 342 used Great Bleat on me but it missed. Fight only lasted about 2 min so anyone at 40 should be able to kill him with no problem. Got horn and a skin, Now i need Rampaging to finish quest.
Lucky Me!

I was on my way to Jueno with my 32rdm/whm, when I saw a Taru die fighting him. I was too late to Cure him, so I looked at the name of the mob, "Lumbering Lambert...Oh s**t! a NM!!!" He had very little HP left^^ A minute or two later...BOOM killed him. Got "the" horn, a ram horn and a ram skin. Not bad for my first NM kill. =) Lucky me!

I woke up early today to get a head start to go back to Bastok from San D' Oria. I was almost to the dunes til I saw the biggest sheep/ram ever. I saw its name was full of happiness on the inside. I drew out my Brass Spear+1 and swong and missed. He turned around and was like,"Your dead!" then he hit me once and did 108. I swong and missed. He hit me again for 90 then again for 73. I swong one last time and...missed. He then hit me for 105 and I died. I wasn't mad but happy, because I it gave me a new insight on this game.

Ahh Lambert first time I saw him he was anihilated by me ^^ He was a really big guy I assume he might of ate too many fungars and spurted his growth a bit much, I had to run far backwards just to get his head and take a snapshot, For some reason I caught the fat lunker at F-7/8 he was a rough one it took me no more than a minite befor I got bored and decided to do a vorple blade, He was very kind into giving me his horn 2 skins Advice: Make sure your well equipped because this is a rough one, I fought him with like rse body only (but at level 60 who cares) and a sword took me a moment so watch out!

# Sep 12 2004 at 11:59 AM Rating: Decent
I got the first ram horn in the Highlands pretty easily, so I headed over to La'Theine. I camped for a couple hours killing every Ram I could find on the widescan, laughed as n00bs kept yelling at everyone to stop killing rams because THEY need money *shakes his head*, and then I see Lambert. I run over there and see someone fighting it already, she was a JP and getting owned pretty bad. I send her a tell that I'm pretty sure she didn't understand and she invites me to the pt, we beat it down hard after I get aggro from a bunch of cure III's thrown on her. The Horn dropped, I lotted and she asked "Lot?", lol, I said "OK." She won the lot and we go our merry ways. Hehe, I'll get it nother day.

lumberin lambert ???
# Sep 04 2004 at 11:40 PM Rating: Decent
u sure this guy is really lvl 27ish cuz i was lvl 30 warrior and i voked this guy and was running circles round the crag waiting for my lvl 65+ whm friend who needed the horn to come and he was hitting me hard ... people had to throw cure III's at me to keep me alive... a lower lever cured to much and it aggroed so i voked so he wouldnt die but lambert killed me and my friend lost lambert to a high lvl JP... so are u sure he has always been 27ish cuz if he was i could have soloed him and there was no way i could have soloed that lambert

Yes, he's not that high. He's a very hard level 27-28 because he is an NM.

I just logged after camping with my fiance for lanolin cubes for the jeuno candle quest and the random bag of seeds. She was 30MNK/1RNG wide scanning while I (30MNK/15WAR forgot to sub RNG) swiveled view in a central area, we were both at about 400 health (2/3s for us) because we weren't expecting to fight lambert. She ran at him and called me, got petrified and knocked down to about 150 before I got there. I was messing around in my non fighting gear, chenged equip, threw a voke, hit my buff macro, started whacking lambert. It pulled her down to about 50 hp before I pulled the hate and then two houred, she came off of petrify and two houred and we beat him. 11 hp for me, 53 for her. Dropped skin and lumbering horn, although she insisted I have it and other way around so we both acted dumb and passed :P No biggie we were psyched.

I THINK I may have soloed him a few weeks ago, when I first got the Purple Belt quest and noticed that I needed to find these things. Didn't bother to remember though, so it may have just been a lumbering ram :)

I was soloing Mr. Lumbering Lambert while I was waltzing through the area. I was doing extremely well, actually. Then... when I had about 2-3 hits left to kill him? He PETRIFIED me. Heh... so much for "Resist Petrify"... now, being lvl 34, I'm gonna go back and take him out. This time it's out of spite. ^^
CONFIRMED LL Info

Okay, the info in this post is CONFIRMED and factual, nothing wrong about it. Just like most of you I am tired of reading posts about how maybe it spawns at this time, maybe you get the horn and maybe it's a lottery, whatever. This info is here to help you an it's your choice whether you take it into consideration.
With that said:

The spawn time on Lumbering Lambert is two hours. However he may not be the spawn everytime. Every two hours you will either get a Lumbering Lambert spawn or a Bloodtear Baldruf, and this is in place of a battering ram. It is random whether it is Bloodtear or Lambert but if you arrive to camp LL right after he is killed you will either have to wait one hour at the very least for the next spawn, but it could be Bloodtear. The other thing is you will get the horn 90% of the time. Bottom line, expect to get it, don't sue me if you don't.

About what level you can take it, if you solo it all depends on your gear, your job, your spells and what level LL spawns. If you're in a party it all depends on the same stuff just for everyone in the party. But for an extremely safe solo, be 45+.

I really hope this helps and it is worth it to look for someone to help you if you are a lvl 18 monk and get this done now instead of when you are 70 and want a black belt.

Good luck and remember with NM's, you will ALWAYS come out with the item if you are persistent.

I soloed Lambert today as a 32WAR/16MNK. i used mighty strikes and dodge right off the bat. i was also able to hit him with sturmwind twice.

I ended with 71hp, it was close. I definitely think most melee should be able to take this at 35 or so.

Heh, I don't disagree with Allakhazam's leveling system, but it is VERY misleading. I'm going from Holla to selbina to buy a scroll of protect 2, (36 whm/blm) wearing only a few of my mnd + items, no body gear, no legs, nothing. I'm just running along and I see a Battering Ram "Great, more gil" I think. Then I saw the name, I ran to the other room to check his level and the computer's off >.< anyway, I boot it, then run back to be sure it's still there. I thought he was a level 50-something NM so I /shouted his <pos>. I then came back to the computer, and came to allakhazam. "27-28" I think "I can take him no sweat" BOY was I wrong. I engaged him with Paralyze, slow, blind, the usual, regen'ed myself, and already had protectra 2 cast. I started fighting, and I was doing around 30-40 damage, but he was hitting for 40-50. since my max was 500, this quickly started to look bad. I asked the two people watching if I could invite them to help me (war30) and an anon JP whm (high enough for Raise 3, though) the war accepted, but by this time I was already screwed, with 24 hp and running like a scared little girl, he didn't voke, and after I died the whm killed it quickly, then casted Raise 3 on me. I managed to do around 6-700 damage, and still hadn't put a very large ding in his HP (maybe 20%). So anyway, moral of the story: add about 10 to the level of NMs before trying to solo them, and bring real gear.

it isnt the level thats wrong its you lol. that level aplies to jobs that are meant to be fighter ie war pld nin drk. Mages always need a major overlevel to take on the same mobs
RE: silly me
# Feb 02 2006 at 12:50 PM Rating: Decent
As a Mage I can tell you that BS RDMs SMNs and BLMs are better Solo than WAR DRK MNK RNG DRG SAM and PLD.
WHM/NIN can solo really well. The level of NMs are stated the level of the amount of experience points you recieve nothing more. NMs are typically alot harder than normal mobs as they have tons more HP and have special abilities. You focus on what your job can do. I sleep kite to solo and its one of the best ways to solo. Their are a few things that I can solo that other jobs can't because of me being a BLM. Some things even 75 NINs wouldn't solo.

44 MNK/ 1 RNG

Since I killed the Rampaging Ram earlier in the day, I figured I'd go after this one to complete the quest. I was walking back and forth in the circled area, pretty uneventful (only saw 3 Battering Rams spawn). Someone sent a /tell for help because he had an orc chasing him, so I ran over and Chi Blasted the orc off him, and suddenly I see a huge ram spawn a short distance past the orc, turned out to be Lambert. Good thing too, there was a Thf/Rng roaming around camping for horns.

Ran over, claimed it, used a Raging Fists or two, it died pretty easily. It used Great Bleat which took me to about 1/4 of my total life, but since it was hitting for 10 damage, and I had 260 life, it wasn't that big of a deal. It was pretty funny to see my HP go from full to tiny when it wore off though, haha.

I then turned around and killed the orc - I had totally ignored it once I saw Lambert spawn.

Hooray for good karma, the guy who was running away stayed to watch the fight, so I gave him some skins because I might not have got it if he hadn't sent that /tell.
Here's a story...
# Jul 19 2004 at 4:59 AM Rating: Decent
I'm on the Fenrir server and at the time I was a level 40BLM/20WHM.
I was on my chocobo from Sandoria to go fishing in Jugner Forest. So I had fishing gear on and a Solid Wand. I was running through La Thiene and I see this huge ram walk toward me while on my chocobo...this thing was three times as tall as me. I asked my linkshell what this was and they just said "KILL IT!!!!! KILL IT!!!"

So me being curious and trusting my linkshell...I get off my chocobo and decide to engage this low level NM. Okay I used Fire II mon it and saw about 1/8 of it's health go down...and it raged at me and hit me for 40-60 damage each hit. I was freaked out that I was going to be killed from this stupid ram. I decided to elemental seal+bind it and nuke it from a distance...suddenly people from all over gather around to watch the great duel of the century. I shout to them to get out of my way and they ignore me. I was trying to run back from it to put it to sleep once it became unbound and people got in the way and they all said for me to call for help.

I finally killed this thing after using manafont with about 80hp left and about 22mp. I got the Lumbering horn from it...This monster would have been easy if I had my full equip on...all in all I'd advise to not fighting it if you don't have good equipment...

Haha, I love how you told them to "go away..." Pretty much any time you fight an NM or other high-profile mob (like a ram) you will get surrounded by tons of people, and anytime it is close they will cheer you on (but they usually won't heal you of course-they want you to die so they can kill the NM!). If it is a close battle then you will get lots of /claps from your audience, and of course the appropriate response is to /bow. ^^
