How/Where Does He Spawn?

So, I gather he spawns on the Secret Beach in or around the cave leading to the Gustav Tunnel. When does he pop up? One post mentioned him only spawning for ppl who have activated a quest. If this is true, what quest?

being able to read is a nice thing:
"Involved in Quests:
* Messenger from Beyond - WHM AF1"
it can only be popped by 40+ WHMs that have their AF1 quest triggered

In fact your job dosen't have to be whm atm of poping it... Just need the quest activated.

I noticed this NM chasing someone out of the secret beach. Knowing nothing about the NM, I engaged it as a RDM59/BLM29. Keeping Plananx and Stoneskin up as well as having Pro/Shell 3 up too, I was able to take the hits, ranged attacks, and even the Demensional Death with somewhat ease. I threw a couple enfeebs out to give a little trouble too. Everything was going ok until about half the NM's HP. My Refresh ran out and I didn't have enough MP to recast. I made a run for the zone. Eventually, I noticed it disengage and start heading back. I used Convert, healed, recast refresh and my defense spells, then went back in. By this time, the NM has full HP again. everything goes the same until one of my friends passes by (WHM40+) and I sent invite to join the fight. A couple mins later, I spot a SAM56 and pull him into the battle as well. After a while, the NM finally goes down, with me tanking it the entire time.

hmmm
i dont see how you could tank over a SAM56 as RDM59
maybe with a few cures on the SAM from havin hate, but unless that SAM was gimp as heck, i just dont see it

It used eagle eye shot, and pretty much spams shooting arrows, so I'm just gonna guess that it's a RNG

Solod it as 62 PLD. He could hardly touch me, and when he did, I just cured. Each Vorpal Blade did 800+ damage. I splurged my mp because I had some left over ^^
Weapon..?

Its like a Qatar, sort of like a claw. Definately a Hand to Hand weapon though, leading me to think he's a monk.

Just fought this guy for a WHM in my ls. Party setup was:

DRG 61 (me)
MNK 51
WHM 41

We had toruble finding spawn point, we were tyring the SAM AF2 one lol. I found it just as morning arrived and we spawned him.
I let out a penta which hit for over 1k, so I had hate for the res of the fight. He does very heavy damage so be warned. I was down to 250HP at one stage from countless Dimension attacks.

We killed him in about 2 minutes and despite my struggle to keep HP, we pwned him ^^
i hate this thing

i helped 2 whms with this thing and the fight took like 10 mins each time and i being a 52 mnk thought it was going to be easy it spammed its ws like tp was a given thing and it took 6 ragings fists for 400+ each fight both whms used all the mp keeping me alive each fight so i would take more then 1 person ta kill it
41? i think not ><

Somehow i don't believe Marchelute is lvl 41 either ^^; I (lvl 41 Whm) fought him the other day along with a lvl 57 Rng and a lvl 50 Rdm, he killed us...and from what i saw he had extreemly high evasion, Sidewinder missed him twice along with most of our other attacks, he just spammed Dimentional Death the whole fight which hit for 300 Dmg each time X_x; ouch..maybe its just me, but he was no walk in the park ^^;;

Second time round i had a whole pt complete with high lvl players, i over did it a bit, but {Death}again? lol {No thanks} ^^; We built up TP before hand and opened the fight with an awesome Transfixion SC *Penta Thrust + Sidewinder + double MB*....he was down to less than half his HP within seconds...i got my revenge ¬¬;; */em slaps Marchelute* and i got my Blessed Hammer^^ *w00t!* thanks to everyone who helped, especially Senkin ^o^

training bad but in the dunes big deal

maby not a total despawn. But have it set so that if it gets to close to a zoneing area that it wont aggro non-combatants under like level 20.

would be a pain in butt to program but would stop people from pulling it acrost the dunes just to watch some random killing.

Normaly I dont have a problem with someone zoneing expecaly if the fight is honestly outa their league then its totaly In character reaction run like crazy to safty. But if you manage to run from the beach all the way to the town. In this case Id say it almost certainaly was for amusement. It does good damage to even higher levels and is not slow. I cant see a player under level 50 making that run unless they specificly planned on running before the fight ever started. While some classes might be able to run. None would be able to start the fight see that it was not a possible fight then turn and run that far.

However, Its the dunes. So lol death to strange newbees that dont know beter than sitting in the entrence of one of the biggest hotspots in the whole games for parties running to zone with trouble on their heals is exceptable to me.

Anyone zoning this to Selbina did it intentionally; most people able to withstand more than a hit from him or be able to run from him would know that the zone to Gustav Tunnel was right there.

I'm not sure this is level 41. My WHM friend I was helping and I (57 PLD) fought this thing and esch of had no more MP and i was down to 400 HP. But i counted it using Dimensional Death 13 times >.< so I'm not sure.

Just solo'd this as a lvl 60 ranger. Build TP before the battle or don't. It was a really easy fight. Lost all my shadows twice, took three dimensional deaths which put me into the yellow. Overall this homeboy has in excess of 6k hit points.
sometime

A BRD75/WHM37 comes and gets it the second it hits night time. Took the ******* all night to kill it and we ended up helping at the end cuz she finally was going to lose. An hour later, we killed it easily. AF1. Yay :p

Boy, that must have been a completely clueless bard >.<
I just soloed this guy as a 62BRD/31WHM. It was a little slow (I'm used to it now), but I was never in any danger.

Sleep - Stoneskin + Blink + Ballads. Fight for a bit and repeat. When at 300 TP, full heal & Spirits Within.

Really quite easy, with the proper strategy, even for a wimpy old bard. Smiley: wink2
Saw him on my Bday

I was partying in the Secret Beach at around 5AM GMT when my party (6 lvl 18-20's) spotted him going into the cave. We chased him but he took out me and another PT member. Does he despawn because he disappeared after that and I don't recall seeing any high-leveled players get there to kill him.

Soloable?
# Jan 19 2005 at 7:47 AM Rating: Decent
Query: Do you have to be whm at the time of the fight to get the AF1 drop, or can you activate the quest as whm, fight the NM as another class, switch back to whm, and talk to the NPC to get the hammer?

Seems that would be *real* convenient-like for me, since I don't plan on taking whm up past 40 until my bard is 60 or better; and although bard is hardly the *best* class for soloing, Lullaby ought to make it doable.

Yes, you are able to spawn the NM as another job as long as you have activated the quest.

Just did this one last night for a whm friend in my ls. Wasn't too hard, we had lvl 41 whm/20 blm, 45 whm/22 thf (whom helped out while waiting on Golden bat to spawn), a 40 DRG/20 MNK, 42 DRK/21 WAR, 45 WAR/22 MNK, and me- 43 DRG/21 WAR...wasn't too hard at all, warrior kept hate, we all went in with full hp/mp and 300% TP. No 2 hours had to be used, and noone died plus WHM's still had a good amount of MP Left. All in all, be very prepared for the things you are not sure about.
Dimensional death sucks
# Dec 27 2004 at 1:10 PM Rating: Decent
O.o; Yeah my title says it all. I was taking him as a lvl 55mnk/27war for my friends whm af weapon quest. I was doin ok but then he used Dimensional death. It brought me from 750hp to 7. I died.. so yeah. Demensional death lives up to it's name. If ya plan on fighting him, be careful :p
