This guy was pretty easy, I just soloed him as a lvl 50 SMN.

Brought in 3 Yag Drinks and 2 Hi-Ethers, it was lightningsday, so I started with Ramuh, and just had him tank the Dark Elf until I was down to around 100 MP. Once I hit 100 MP, I used my last Drink, started using Ifrit, and used Astral Flow, after 3 Infernos, for 814 damage each, he went down.

He did tear through my avatars pretty quick though, but Dimensional Death seemed pretty random it did as low as 23 damage, and topped at around 130. Also, it makes you feel really superior when there's other players there under level 20 watching in awe as you fight this thing >_>

wow did you really solo this as a smn50?? took 3 of us to kill it and the RDM died when the NM's life was down to about 4/5. i was THF50/NIN25, RDM60/BLM30, and the WHM41/BLM20. it was a pretty tough fight, even after all the buffs with 300% TP. we started off with Burning Blade, Viper Bite, then FireII MB, did around 500DMG. i gotta admit, that dimensional crap it does is extremely strong, you should always have your HP over 350. so idk, maybe have a pt of 4 level50 could take it out easily.

Yes, I actually did solo it at 50, but that's really not saying too much, SMNs can solo a lot of stuff pretty well as long as they've got Ethers, Yag Drinks, Plenty of room, and Astral Flow ready. I'd assume a 50 BST could solo it too.

Of course, if Astral Flow wears off and the thing isn't dead yet, the SMN is pretty screwed... :(

BST can't solo him at lvl 50 cuz there are no pets high enough lvl to use. and 2 jug pets wouldn't cut it at that lvl.

We fought this guy for a WHM in our LS.

Level 50ish RNG, MNK, BRD, BLM, WHM, and the lower WHM.

Schooled him. Twice even.

Its unfort. that a lot of people died, but I guess I don't see the need to call a GM on him for zoning something that obviosly was tearing him up. I hate people that train things to obviosly kill others, but if people stand near zones doing nothing in a populer lvling area, I think it's thier fault, people zone things all the time. I'm not sure, but I think he's linked into AF gear for 50-60 at some point. I have ran into him when i was farming Golden Bat as well, he was standing right beside the bard song stone thing. Just looking at him let me know to avoid him at all costs, I was also only lvl 30's at the time.

True but this time they did it on purpose. One of them made a video of the event and posted it in the main forum. They were bored so felt like killing off a lot of people in the dunes

We ripped this big boy.

It was kind of a personal revenge. Me & Zera (husband) at mid 30's levels had just lost Emperor to some other guy and when we were on the way to Golden Bat (to wait for the other emp's respawn) we 1st saw this big dark elvaan that we tought it was some PC shooting at us, LOL. We were quite like "OMG Wtf is going on?" We tried our best, we did wast our 2Hrs, and not even a scratch... Since that day on, i earned a tremendeous hate from that spooky elvaan, and i promissed, soon enough, to come back to that same place and do a /laugh before him while he would be at my knees. I don't know why but i hate this elvaan so much that i feel honored when someone call for help to kill this thing.

So what... i was going to do some farming when a level 42 WHM friend asked for help... but he wasnt really hopping to do the AF1 on the same night. He was just trying to understand how to do it. Then i said. "We'll do it, NOW!" . He replied like "Ok, going to lower jeuno ask for help". I said: "I don't want any help... Let's rip that ****** NOW!". He: "Hmmmm." (LOL)

Then , a friend that just logged on came to help. And so, we went to Valkurum to kill him.

Formation:

. SAM 52 / 26 WAR (me - Lhayla)
. WHM 42 / 21 BLM (Bobsin)
. DRK 39 / 19 WAR (Kentcommel)

When we got there i told to my party "17 minutes for 2H", but if we did wait for that, the night was gone and we would have to wait 45 minutes for another nightime. So we went w/out 2H.

How we did ? Let's say it was a nice fierce battle.

People... don't ask for a very high level help when doing these things.... whats the emotion on that? Last night, when we did Marchelute with this setup, it was one of the BEST fights i had all game long... it was so much fun, so MUCH DAM fun!

God Bless SAM's. Once a wiseman said: The best quality a SAM has is to not have a flaw. That being said... i was able to Tank Marchelute decently and Deal a good amount of Damage. TP at 300% at beginning of Battle -> Jinpu -> Meditade -> Jinpu...

Dark Knight helped a lot too... Man... how these guys deal so much damage.... if it werent for their terrible defense they probably would be the best job in game :P

Well... White mage was casting CURES like crazy... His MP was going down quickly, although there were times that we were quite calm. Pacience is the key. He was saving some MP for Teleport-DEM just in case.... I said "To hell with that, lets go!!!"

The end of battle was dramatic. My Hp was around 200-250. WHM had no more MP. He used Benediction. Guess what!? O.M.F.G. I didn't lost the hate. I couldn't believe that. And i didn't used a simple Provoke to keep it on me. Marchelute was like: "Kill Lhayla, Kill Lhayla, Kill Lhayla, Lhayla must die." (LOL)

But then he started hit me with his bests moves over and over and over and over again. My HP went down from 1001 to 190 and a RDM from a Nearby lv. 19/20 XP Pty helped throwing some normal cures. I can't lie. He saved me. But this wouldnt have happened if our WHM didnt have forgot his Juices at Mog House.

My HP went down to 100 and a last Jinpu silenced that sob. forver. After all, he did /kneel to me. I had never felt like that b4 in FFXI. It was an epic battle battle; i'll never forget it.

It was so much fun... ican't simply describe on this boards.

So I'm waiting around for Golden Bat, and running through secret beach to the Gustav Tunnel enterance as a THF36/NIN18. He's chillin, over in the bushes, and I just take it as some PC. I get aggro'd, and it takes me about two 130 damage hits to realize that it's the damn WHM AF1 NM, and before I can wail on my Flee macro, he's using me as a napkin. So, I'm dead. Then, some dude raises me. No cure. 15 hp. Marchelute nearby, I manage to escape. I'm runnin through the tunnel, cant heal because of the bats, and at the end of the tunnel, there's an EXP party. They're takin on a mugger, and it uses bomb toss. I get AoE. I die. I lose 1k exp, at the f***ing dunes, as a level 36. Fork it all. And, golden bat pops when I'm dead, in the tunnel that it NEVER pops in. I'm 0/2 GB tonight alone. What a crappy day.

Killed him today for a whm friend of mine. Party was 54THF/26NIN (me), 45WHM/14NIN (had it subbed for farming when we decided to fight him), and 42WHM/20SMN. Built up TP to 300%, and all sneaked up. When he popped i engaged him with a SATA viperbite..One whm debuffed a bit and got paralyze to stick. Other whm and i were meleeing him just fine and doing some SC. Kept utsusemi up as best as i could and when i didn't they backed me up.. At 15% hp both ran out of mp but 2 well timed bene's were enough for me to finish him off..held hate the entire battle even with the bene's.

Yes you should be able to, it will take a bit time though. I would suggest building up TP before u start so get there early because night time is only from 20-4
we took it with whm 50 (me) PLD 60 and War58
went pretty fast
the only thing is he has about 10k HP or more
i was hitting for like 60-100 (starburst 347)
Harder than expected

I figured hey, lvl 41 mob. My lvl 53DRK buddy can whup it no problem, especially with me, lvl 41 WHM, keeping him healed. Wrong. We got it down to half HP before I ran out of MP and we died. He has a TON of HP cuz my friend is a REAL good DD. An hour later, we have a lvl 53MNK and a lvl 51SMN there to help. A BRD75/WHM37 comes and gets it the second it hits night time. Took the ******* all night to kill it and we ended up helping at the end cuz she finally was going to lose. An hour later, we killed it easily. AF1. Yay :p

Some idiot level 75 (yes level 75s are idiots too contrary to popular belief) spawned this guy last night and trained him to one of the zones, I believe it was Selbina. I didn't bother to go see, as I did not wish to die, but a lot of people died last night. I believe there were 5 reports of this guy to the GM's last night on the Bahamut Server.

Fun with Spawnables. They should make him despawn if he leaves a certain area around his spawn point for cases like this.

I recently helped a friend's friend with this fight. Party setup was:

51 rdm/ 25 ninja (me)
50 pld/ 25 war
40 pld/ 20 war
41 whm/ 20 blm

Whm runs up and spawns him, I throw on utsusemi and a few buffs, higher-up pld vokes. Marchulete started spamming DD for about 40-85 damage on the pally. I start using Fire II and other such spells ... I did more damage than I'd ever done ^^; That's why he started attacking me, and I had no decent gear (had quit rdm, was doing ninja, but now I'm rdm again :/). He went right through my utsusemi, and when my hp went red, pally tried to use Invincible, but it was too late - Annabelle goes down, DD for 300 + damage after a few nasty hits. I was the only person who had a problem, cause no one else got a stray hit or even went into the yellow. In short, fun fight! I wanna do it again someday! :D so really, it's not very hard, but one whm freind of mine says he can be very nasty, and we got a lucky draw. ^^

Did this one as NIN54, with a WHM40.

Really easy fight, although he did get me several times with his WS, so all the WHM had to do is Haste me and Cure me. His WS's can be blocked with shadows, but his ranged attack was rather accurate and took my shadows several times..

Really cool fight, i would love to do this again ^^
Fun^^

Any Lv 58+ RDM thinking that you can solo this guy^^ this is ur guide to doing so!

Cast Stoneskin, Blink, Shock Spikes/Ice Spikes, Phalanx, haste, Refresh, Protect, Shell, and a En spell.
engage and enfeeble him right from the start, preferably Paralyze, Blind, Slow^^. Once you lose Blink recast because if he does dimensional death most likely it will rip through your stoneskin. Tell the WHM to heal you only. Make sure he doesnt cast Banish II only because he may get hate, When the WHM runs out of MP, dont refresh the WHM save your MP for stoneskin and blink. If you did this right, you should be able to kill this guy with minimal damage done to you.

WHM AF1 7 wins/ 1 loss
RDM AF1 2 wins/ 0 loss
DRK AF1 1 win/ 0 loss
SAM AF1 1 win/ 0 loss (EXTREMELY close)

I just achieved level 40 on my whm and decided that I wanted to go ahead and do the quest. I had two friends help me out, a 58rng and a 51mnk. They both got to about 300 tp before I spawned it.

As soon as I spawned it he hit me for about 80 dmg with a ranged attack but the monk voked, used raging fists then turned on hundred fists. Meanwhile the rng used sidewinder and did a sharpshot+barrage which oddly enough completely missed.

After this the monk is still wailing on Marchelute while the rng is firing away, and Marchelute starts spamming dimensional death. This hits the monk for about 200 dmg each time. In the course of about a minute battle he used dimensional death 6 times. However, I Cure III spammed him until the rng got enough tp to pull off another sidewinder that finished him off.

Conclusion. I believe he's only a level 41 mob so he has low defense and evasion but does a ton of damage with dimensional death. It should NOT take a party of 55's to kill him if you know what you're doing. I would venture that any 2 mid-50 damage dealer's or a tank and a damage dealer could take him out if they are willing to use their 2-hours and if they're supported by the lower level whm.

After hitting lvl 40 with WHM, I decided to take a break from leveling, and made a spontaneous decision to try getting help for my AF hammer. After reading what was posted here, I was a bit nervous with the group that we gathered. It consisted of:

55 SAM/27 WAR
54 DRK/27 BLM
53 BLM/26 SMN
43 MNK/21 WAR
40 WHM/20 BLM <--- me
36 PLD/18 WAR

We planned out the battle ahead of time, I buffed with stoneskin and the blm casted Garuda and gave everyone blink. As soon as the fight began, the PLD used Holy Circle. The fight went as follows:

DRK - Vorpal Scythe - 173 dmg
SAM - Tachi: Jinpu - 1194 dmg
Distortion - 787 dmg
BLM - Magic Burst! - Freeze - 1137 dmg
WHM - Seraph Strike - 254 dmg
MNK - Raging Fists - 217 dmg
Impaction - 132 dmg
(BLM starts casting Thunder II)
PLD - Shining Blade - 93 dmg

PLD defeats Marchelute.

The SAM used voke and was tanking all fight, getting hit for ~60-65 dmg with ranged attacks and ~50 with melee. He got off 2 dimensional deaths, hitting for 177 and 81 dmg. He had just started to ready the 3rd dimensional death when the PLD finished him off. The fight lasted less than a minute and the SAM at about 75% health and the BLM at 37% MP were the only hp/mp losses of the whole fight. I gave the SAM a Divine Seal+Cure III, bid everyone thanks, and we all parted ways. Much easier mob than I had thought by reading previous posts.

My Fight
# Sep 08 2004 at 8:44 PM Rating: Excellent
Indeed, when you are caught up in the moment of getting your first piece of AF, it is quite possible to go into this fight unprepared!

I enlisted the the help of a lvl 64 THF/32 RNG and that was all. A bad move? Not as bad as you may think (luckily)! The THF used WS after WS after WS to the point where when I was spamming Cure IV, it didn't even bat an eye ><. Needless to say, MP was running low...used Benediction...STILL ignored me. We ended up winning the fight, but it was VERY close.

I do recommend a PLD and/or DRK with another high lvl WHM. Any more than that may not be necessary. BUT, if you have access to high level players...more the merrier! ^^

** Beware Dimentional Death - It sucks and he uses it quite a bit ***

Did this fight with a 41 Whm, 42 Pld and myself, a 52 RDM/NIN at the time. Was having a lot of trouble keeping Utsusemi up from his Dimensional Deaths and various ranged attacks. Had to chainspell to get Stoneskin and Blinks up, as well attempt to Refresh when possible. Eventually, I ran out of MP, and getting hit for 200-300 Dimensional Deaths proved quite fatal. Pld eventually provoked, and didn't last long from Dimensional Deaths. So he fell quickly and the tanking roll was back to me. Eventually I died and the whm eventually got to kill him from help of a 70 Pld. Who actually fell to half health. But in the end, got the pass.

Decided to face him a second time for fun, since the whm popped him when I was not ready.

Also had a 18 DRG and 10 Monk who also decided to help. (Since they were in my linkshell and we were hanging out XD). Goblin Mugger decided to kill the 10 Monk while the Drg obviously ran to zone. Goblin Mugger linked me, so I had two monsters hitting me, making Utsusemi even harder to bring back. As like the first fight, got him down to 1/2 half before he overwhelmed me. Considering it was a 52 Rdm/Nin and a 41 Whm/Blm I consider that pretty good :P. (I'm not counting the non-existant damage from the 18 Drg and 10 Mnk, they joined in for a joke :D). After I had died, the Drg attempted to zone Marchelute to Selbina. But some high levels must of killed him on the way there, since he never made it to the Selbina zone to terrorize the poor Valkurm newbies ^^;

Moral is: Dimensional Death hurts a lot, so don't take this guy lightly, you should bring a party of 50's or a few 60's to take this guy down.

And that is my Marchelute story. Good luck. ^^

I was actually standing right there during that whole time. I was a..11WHM/5BLM at the time. Fun stuff. Did exactly what the guy above said. Just kinda stood around, someone ran by, pulled out his bow - thunk - death. People dropped left and right. After that, I sought to find out who he was. No one knew. No one in my LS knew...no body. Later on I learned he was for WHM AF. I look forward to our battle. :) Marchelute...you are going DOWN!
