Maybe Square did do something screwy with the drop rate. To err punish botters or something *shrugs* ah and price of the kotes on Pandomium has shot up over 550k ;-;
Well well, on my second attempt at the Kote now (I need to save for a Haubergeon, 1.1 million on Gilgamesh ; ;) and damn luck isn't going my way. Been camping him 5 days now, killed him 17 times over that period, Impact Knuckles EVERY time. Understand that just cuz you claim this guy, you aren't necessarily getting a Kote. Interestingly the kote value has shot up 150k in the AH. Has S-E nerfed the drop rate even MORE in a recent patch or something?

Oh yes entering my first month of camping this nm (oh joy >.>) I feel cheated big time by him. When ever I do manage to claim this over grown Crow he refuses to the kotes that this lonely Samurai needs ;-;.

ok, im not a noob, but im not totally hip to the slang apparently. what is a bot? is it just someone who happens to grab the mob b4 anyone else? or is he using some sort of shady tactics? and btw, ive never camped this guy b4, but i make a killing selling hunters longbows, demonic swords, barbarians swords, etc. both giddeus and castle-o r great places to farm! my 40ranger/ninja never has a problem keeping scorpion arrows and sheihe in stock.

Shady tactics. Bot = program you run that does something for you.
Usually rumored to be run by high level JPN players, it will sit there and spam provoke / what have you until it pulls something, and will then engage it, and then sit and do it again.
This used to be a huge problem in Diablo 2, with a high level Unique monster - people would run bots to get his cool item drops, and go trade em for other good gear. Unlike FFXI, all of those people were banned. (I was one of em)
More crude methods involve setting a keyboard macro that vokes for you infinitely, and keeping the speakers cranked, so that you hear when your voke goes off, then you walk over and kill it.

I know for a fact that there is a bot who's been camping this guy for around a week. (this happened in May) I was training my Sam and i said, "well i might as well go try for my KOTE" and i had an old buddy help me out. Talk about gay, i was trying to talk to this guy for like 2 hours about dumb things and he wouldnt move. I asked him "are you a bot?" and he provoked that overgrown crow... He killed it and he just sat there, 6 hours later he was still sitting there getting every pop, so i went to windy and switched my main to my drg and put my pet DRAGON (not wyvern) in his face and my whm friend got him every time after that but with no drop.
Kudos, that's the best thing you could have done. Gotta love the fact that /targetnpc will target the Dragon too.
well all i have to say is i feel cheated, after many hours of camping this guy and watching scripters take him before my eyes so many times.. i finally got him and no drop.. oh well.. i guess he COULD drop next time.. just watch out when you camp him, hes scripted and there are many people camping him.. bah.. just killed him again and he dropped the crap knuckles again... /sigh... well i killed him 3 times now.. and lets just say im 0/3 ochiudos kote, and 3/3 impact knuckles.. woot.. now im 0/4 on the kote.. 4/4 on the knuckles.. btw i found chi blast < provoke. ok finally i feel cheated no longer... on the 5th battle he dropped the kote! now im 4/5 knuckles 1/5 ochiudo's kote! and from a friends statistics i have seen the average drop rate to be about 20-25%.

I've been camping this oversized crow for 4 weeks so far, still no drop, I've gotten him a total of about 20 or so times.
Me, a 40 Samurai, and my friend, a 50 Paladin camped this guy. There were 2 other campers. We thought we were camping Qu Domi the Gallant..until Mee Deggi spawned..Anyway, we got it. No drop. Spawned in about 1 hour 45 minutes. Now were camping him again, with a 50 pld, 40 sam, and 40 whm. Were the only ones camping him too! w00t w00t!

OK last night i was camping the NM with 2 friends for about 13 hrs. WE got Mee Degi EVERY single time he popped (which took about 2-3 hrs) and dropped those knuckles which we have about 3 each. On the previous day i camped this guy for about 5 hrs and he spawned every hr or so and i was 2/5 getting Ochi Kotes with this guy and it was a full moon. I never beleived in this moon garbage but now i'm a believer ^^ enjoy camping this NM guys, hes a real let down =( over camped more than any decent lvl NM ive ever camped

we found a jp player who was very obviously botting and plopped a drg right in front of him hehehe
I hate when people say there are bots camping these NM that drop expensive stuff. I just think they are afk or really dont want to be sending you a /tell when it pops.

Try dragging a mob in there, any mob, preferably something fairly weak (but not a train). Make it obvious you won't be killed by it (stand still, disengaged for a bit), then call for help.
Did the person provoke it as soon as you typed /help?
That's how you can tell a bot. No one in their right mind would voke a mob you can handle when they're camping.
When I camped stroper chyme with some friends, we did that to test a high level THF/WAR in the room. He provoked Chyme, not the mob.

pretty sure its Chi Blast > Provoke > Charm > Dia > Flash = Stun
killed Mee Deggi got the kotes, he didn't use hundred fists in our fight....

Kuraiou, judging from your post count, you're no troll or newb, but I beg to differ on the info in your post. Charm and Chi Blast I have seen regularly beat my provoke, but Flash and Stun?!?!?!? I know for a fact these are slower than Provoke since I just got the Ochiudo's Kote not 15 minutes ago. I killed the NM 11 times over 2 days (makes me think drop rate is about 10% on the kote) and I would CONSISTENTLY beat mages of all forms to the pull. th only people I needed to watch out for were people with /war or mnk/ or /mnk. Chi Blast is definitely faster as a competing LS mate was beating me consistently with it, but Stun and Flash are spells and have cast times. All the mages present were no competition at all, even the JP ones.

Well my LS leader wanted em to hunt this with him so we headed off tehre expecting some difficulty but nothing like this. Overcamped wouldn't be teh word for poor Punisher, he barely lasts 5 seconds before some1s got him and tehres always 7 ppl on that little island jsut wating for him. Needles to say Myself (Evangelakis) , Eccentricknife (Ls leader) , and Madreric (Blm pimp taru). finally got him with provoke. for all the hours of camping .... no drop. Well a small rant but to note something Chi Blast for monks seems to work faster then provoke and anyone below 45 shoudlnt even attempt this Guy (tons of HP and Hundred Fists) .

I hunted for 8 hrs this weekend I have the macros all setup but there is not much you can do when he spawns claimed Stupid *** bots

Me and a friend from link camped him and fought him twice. It dropped the kote the second time... I came as sam/war for voke and he was thf/nin with TH2 both at 47...
Anyways we timed it and it took approximately 1hr15

btw Mee Deggi spawns on the first floor in the far SE zone at (H-8) up on the lil center place...play in Fhenrir world Kotes go round 490k and have got screwed on 3 spawns so far due to JP earlier pop view time

ok to all of u ppl tryn to hunt this. m record on quezt server on Hu Mjuu (Giddoues) is 3/15 times. but i got it 5 times in one day before .
wat i use to Voke the air lol is something i bout for Quake II its called a Ultimate gaming pad its kinda like a Control . but i have theseswitch on top . all i do is click th switch and watch me get Punisher ; ) i havnt got teh Kotes yet but i have killed him 7 tinmes beat Can u belive it 9 ppl who were stading next to it lol. but on Huu i got the staff 3 times campin it a toital of 2 days. its INcred fast soo fast that u voke the air and then it spawns jsut to let u know i got this gamepad 3 yrs ago and its doinga me good

I don't think you could do it solo at lvl 40. If you read what I wrote, you would see I wrote that even I (THF50) can't do this one solo.
I can't really answer that question, because it depends on what job you use. THF is really bad at soloing, but I honestly think you better be lvl 50 to solo this at any chance! (^-^)

I needed cash, so I went to Castle Oztroja to hunt some NMs...
Me(THF50) and a friend (seta, RDM50), hunted the gallant and the punisher. We hunted the punisher the most of course, because I really want those 400k(on ramush server) i get from it, 200k on each that is.
I hunted it for 2 days (sitting on front of the comp some hours each day...). The prob was not at all to kill it, the prob was to voke the bird! It's not like I don't know of the macro to voke it with (the /targetnpc one), but the japanese people always seems to get it (some... not all. Only the uber fast ones!). Seta even tried to use his electrical toothbrusher (^-^;)
It accually worked really well, but still... the japanese people was incredebly fast!
The punisher is always camped (We had like 2 hours when there was noone camping it! I guess we was lucky then...). The gallant however may be emty, but normally people who hunt the punisher go camp the gallant right after the punisher have spawned... but they usually leave after 45min to return to the camping of the punisher.
After those 2 days I ended up killing the punisher 7 times and the gallant 5 times...
the only drop i got was 7 Impact knuckles and 5 strider swords _(-_-;)/
After that I gave up... the first day was ok, because I killed the punisher 5 times. the other day was a pain... only 2 kills
I hope you all read this, it may just be one of my boring stories... but I just wanted to tell you about my try at this NM! \(^-^)/
and also... to you all who are planning to kill him at lvl 30-40: You don't got a chance! Belive me, I can't even solo it at lvl 50(THF)... Maybe I could, but then I would have got NIN sub (you need WAR sub to have a chance to get it).

well, from what i've heard, the majority of the campers who camp this NM are Bots... i want it so bad but when my lvl 64 rng/war friend went there she couldnt get it because every time it would spawn she'd hear a provoke and that'd be that.
