Vana'diel Bestiary: Panzer Percival  

Can I solo this NM with a lvl 27WAR/MNK if I keep up Defender and use my 2hr, or will I need some assistance? I am broke and I really want that Neckchopper, 75K on Fairy. :P

EDIT: Just read someones post about a 28 WAR getting slaughtered by this NM, so I will ask one of my ls members to help me on this one.

Man, there is seriously something wrong with the drop rate of this thing. Me and 3 ls buddies camped it for more than 3 hours with two people at each spawn site. Nothing! Man, this stinks! I mean, even if it popped and slaughtered the lot of us it would be fun, but nothing! We killed so many beetles I went from 55 exp to over 600. At 7 exp a mob, that comes out to about 80 mobs. Atleast I got to skill up my Great Sword.

I have camped this thing for 2 days now and i havent seen it once so whoever said that its spawn time is quicker than others ur really wrong i just logged off from jugner i was camping it w/ my drg friend and he is still there hes pissed at it and wantsd to at least see it i cant cuz i got skool in the morn but if he gets drop hews gunna give to me ^^ YAY but this nm is prob not worth camping..... u have a better chance atr camping lizzy and selling boots than camping this **** head!

I was leveling Bst21/whm10 in Jugner Forest earlier today, and I logged out for a bit because hey, I'm a Bst, we can do that ^_^. So I come back later, and as my screen is loading I see this guy pop up on the screen. I was in the northern spawn area (great place for pets) when I logged, so I guess I got lucky. I actually didn't know he existed before this. I charmed a nearby beetle and set to work.

Didn't know what level the NM was, and what better way to find out than attack it. It couldn't have been that much higher than the beetles around me (only about 5 or so levels above me, like it says) but man, it dropped my pets like flies. I dragged it around, waiting for a pet to die, charming something else (everything is charmable around this level) and sending it to its doom, running away, curing. Rinse, repeat. Each pet took down a chisel of hp of it, and I got through I think 16 pets total before it died. And it dropped a beetle jaw.

I didn't care it didn't drop the Neckchopper, I had a hell of a time killing it, and would love to do it again. And I was lvl 21, so hey, good times.

(I even got 55 experience points from killing it. Stupid pet was still alive >_<)

i went as a 35RDM/12NIN and owned his ***, i got 12 exp as well :P i just keeped Ichi up and stoneskin and he went down slowly, but easily

only got a beetle jaw ><

btw, he was there when i went there, i didnt have 2 wait 4 pop :P

think i could kill this guy as a blm38/smn19?

I'm not a huge NM camper. Half way thru waiting for spawns I always seem to think of better ways to make money to save time and buy it at AH, or I get bored and think of exp that I'm missing out on. Anyway, that being said, here is my experience with this NM.

I wanted this sweet G.Axe for my lowbie WAR job and I didn't want to pay the AH price. Currently about 60-70k on my server, depending on availibility. There were none at the AH anyway, when I wanted it, so I figured I would go out and get it the old fashioned way.

I killed the place holders at the north camp, moved down and cleared out the south camp, then back to the north for the same thing. Much to my surprize, he was waiting for me at the south camp when I got back the second time. All and all, I'd say he popped within 15 min. I subbed THF for TH and Flee. Much to my dismay, he didn't drop the G.Axe. ( ;-;)

I continued to slaughter beetles at both sites and about 20 minutes after first spawn he popped at the northern camp. Confirmed: the 2 spawns are independent of one another. It is possible to pop him at one camp and them pop him at the other camp shortly after.

Unfortunately, he didn't drop that time either. ( ;-;) 0/2.


By this time it was about 3 in the A.M. and I was tired of killing beetles. So, I logged out in Jugner and slept.

The next morning I woke up and figured I would try to pop him one more time before I went to Jeuno to see if I could just buy the item @ AH. Much to my happiness he did pop at the Northern camp and I got the drop.

P.S. - About 2 or 3 days later I grew tired of leveling up my WAR and sold it at AH for 65k. Not bad for a night's work.

Geez I hate this guy, lemme tell u my story. I went to Jugner as my lvl 33 War/Pld, switched because I wanted double attack, but anywayz I saw this ******* started to fight him I had a 250% TP bar and used it, I actually got him down to practally death, then some dam beetle spawned right in front of us linked then Panzer did some torpedo sh** and so did that dam beetle and I am laying face down eating dung, I think they rolled me up in it afterwards. Like Toretto said "Winning is winning, You never had me you didnt even have your car".

Not much to say about this guy cause ive never spent time hunting him until after this 1 time me and 2 other friends were farming in the jungle and 1 of my friends jus went up in front of Spore Hollow and seen Panzer there. We were a bit away but my friend waited rdy to claim it jus in case but no1 was around and that gave us time to get there to demolish it. We got the axe and i kept it for garrisons/ecos for my war or drk and jus paid off my 2 friends^^ Since then we/ive spent hrs farming beetle products (the odd tiger or tree) but no more Panzer:( I think its total random spawn but !@#$ man theres a diff between random and never. From now on i jus check spawn pts when im passing through.

i have camped this thing from about lvl 30 to 40 now as a war mnk and a war thf everytime it spawned i got the neckchopper. proly a total of 16 times now. but as of late it has never poped i have camped for 4 hours with no pop so i dont think i will be camping it any more and this is on the ifrit surver

I camped this Beetle for 10hrs today, 4hrs at J-5 and 6hrs at L-6/7. It didn't pop once. So I'm never camping him again. Good Luck to the rest of you.

oh... my... god... i have been patroling the northern area for 8 hrs (and the south one for 4 hrs) no.. pop! lol.. ive killed.. so many placeholders! >.<
