U are right on PH it is the one directly below the Antican Funditor. I am currently 1/29 on DW. I've gotten Ph down so well i don't even use /rng anymore. Hopin for a 2nd one that I can sell. I went 1/13 the first time and haven't had drop since. PH pop's every 2:07 game time after death. So, if u killed PH @ 3:00 either PH or DW would pop 5:07. PH is always below the Scorpion. Good Luck and happy hunting!!! =)

It's an Antican. And I got lucky earlier this week with 2 drops one right after another. So I am like 2/10 as a RDM70/RNG07 XD

PH seems to be first spider under the Antican, i'm not sure tho. But I can say widescan should look like this:

Antican ---- G-8/G-9 (moves around)
Funditor
Giant Spider / Dune Widow (so possible PH)
Giant Spider
Sand Beetle
Sand Beetle
Sabotender
Giant Spider ---- G-8/G-9 (most of the time on line between G-8 and H-8)
Sand Beetle
Sand Beetle

side note: 2/2 (well yes, went camping first, then while testing popped again and dropped again O.o) all in 1 hour. PLD75/RNG1

It depends on where you stand because if you're too far west you won't see the Antican Funditor, but yeah, I'm pretty sure you're right, that's where it popped for me. Also a little addition, when you kill the PH it will respawn at 2:20hours game time.

I tried going as /35rng... but my Widescan was huge, and took too long to scroll through, so I went as /24bst, and it was much more managable, the area is relatively small, seems limited to the southern half of G-8, I stand a bit north of the line, and toward the middle of the square while I'm waiting for repops.

Good luck to everyone who isn't on Fairy >.> (Until I get mine, then they can have good luck too...)

*Edit*
Yeah... F you SE... 0/9... you NEED widescan to camp this NM, and my rdm is only job strong enough to kill... which means rdm/bst or rdm/rng... not TH... but multiple kills at full moon... and seriously... just wtf... hope whoever did the programming for this bit chokes on an olive and dies. This isn't JEJ or some low lvl noob NM... it should not have a drop rate like one.

Anyone on Fairy interested in teaming up... if you can solo this then I can go as thf/bst and get us the claim... I've got that part down... /sigh.

*Edit*
And 0/10

i think im bout 2/50 on this damn thing. i finally got drop then stopped campin it. i ghave the torque to my wife so i figured id go back and try again. got drop the next time i went out.ive had it pop in like 45 mins before. i usually just run around killin spiders.
awful drop rate
# Sep 13 2006 at 2:17 PM Rating: Decent
I'm 0/13 on this NM so far. I have the placeholder down (figured it out on my own) so I can get the claim every time unless someone else is extremelly lucky. I even tried killing it on full moon at 93% 95% and 100% with my 4 leaf bud^^.

If you know the ph and nobody else is camping the nm (i.e. killing ever spider within the area) you can spawn the DW in about 2 hours or so (from my experience). If others are camping it and killing all of the spiders it seems to take longer, about 3-4 hours usually.

I've never seen anyone camp this thing that knows the ph and whenever I camp it I always kite the ph away so no one can get the ToD (even tho I've had people follow me across the whole map until I threatened that I'd charm the PH and they'd never see the nm pop lol).

I always sub bst when I go for a small widescan since subbing rng is too large of a scan.
Hopefully I'll get this damn drop one day.

Ofc dropping a nuke on the forest will kill the boar for lunch and save you bullets and the time hunting it -.-

what i mean is: when camping a so-called "lottery NM" you have 2 choices

-randomly kos everything

-track and kill the PH

2nd method also allows you to foretell possible spawn time and location of the NM (or PH) making it alot easier to get him. Besides randomly slayin everything bears the risk of someone keeping the true PH somewhere to prevent the NM from spawning or the PH just being slightly outside the area you patrol. . .both making you waste alot time for nothing.

And again tryin to prove the "only 1PH" by applyin the ultimate hack (widescan).

Widescan would look like:

Sabotender
Giant Spider
(Dune Widow) <- might be above or below the Spider, but i have my reasoning
Giant Spider
Sand Beetle
Sand Beetle

Due to alot of competition, I'll just keep my "PH" charmed for a few hrs and see if they can pop DW. q.e.d

note: So far it seems that the PH is always above the NM in the widescan list, no way to really prove it though. . .

Time passed. . .the competition left XD And so i strated killing my "PH". . .after a few rounds i added the 2nd spider to the killing and later a 3rd 1 popping to the NE. . .and time passed. DW popped finally as replace for the Spider i labeleed as "PH" tho it's no proof anymore by now. . .

Edit: curse me luck -.- but at least i could prove the PH. After several pops (not all succesful for me) the competition suddenly grew. . .so i decided to safely store away "my PH" while i kill all spider round together with the others. . .roughly 10hrs of spider-slaying resulted in alot ppl leaving, but no DW popat all, but DW popped ~5mins after i released and killed my "PH hostage".
Also note the PH seems to start repopping 15-20mins after DW died.

Edit2: Repop time of DW is 1hr+

After camping Dune Widow for over a month now (not 24/7, mind you), and having claimed and beaten it about 15 times (truthfully, I lost count, but it was many times) I am ecstatic to say I finally got it! I am RDM main, so this was a way for me to make and hopefully save money by getting the torque and camping this spider—and that’s one of the advantages of Dune Widow over many other NMs, because even if you don’t get the drop right away, you still are guaranteed money with the spider webs. Spider Webs range in price by server, and I averaged about 14k per web. You get three webs guaranteed per kill, so that’s about 42k profit per kill (for me, at least). Ultimately, if you camp the spider enough and don’t get a drop for a while, you could even invest that money into a spider or enfeebling torque eventually; and if you get the drop to boot, that’s a little extra.

In terms of my fighting strategies, I have tried a variety of methods, several times each: beating her just as RDM/BLM; beating her with one, two, and eventually three of the “lucky” items (Lucky Egg, Four-leaf Mandragora Bud and Wild Rabbit Tail); beating her with /THF for Treasure Hunter; using and not using Weapon Skills to defeat her; chainspell-nuking her…you name it! The fact of the matter is, none of these methods seemed to have worked in particular. I finally got the drop as RDM/THF with all lucky items with crescent moon (if I remember correctly). I don’t know if these conditions turned out to be the deciding factor in getting the drop, but it’s worth mentioning nonetheless.

I have yet to try the torque in a party setting. There are several enfeebling Macros that I use, but generally it looks like this (prior to this, I would hit my MND or INT Macro, depending on the spell, to equip all of my +MND/INT gear):

/equip neck “Spider Torque”
/equip main “Staff corresponding to the spell”
/ma “Enfeebling spell” <t>
/wait # {however many seconds the spell takes to cast; generally 4-6}
/equip main “Staff corresponding to the spell”
/ma “Enfeebling spell” <t>

Instead of <t>, you could even use <stnpc> so in case just one of the spells wears off, you can hit the Macro again but you will have the option of firing off the spell or not, since you will first be able to select the target. I hope that makes sense.

Anyways, best of luck to all you people out there trying to get this, particularly RDMs who want to be better at their job and use this item to help them in that endeavor!

By the way, it pops at G-8.

Took this thing out easily as a 68RDM/15THF. This NM is rarely camped on my server and I was able to pop it and claim it without fail every 2 hours. It's not bad for money either. It drop 3x spider webs each time so I made 90k off this thing after camping it 3 times. On the third time I got it drop the torque and I had a happy day :)

1/3 on the Torque and up 90k gil. ^_^
Got drop!

I camped it for about 30-45 minutes killing random spider pops. Claimed DW with Stun, Blizzaga 3 x2, Thundaga 3 x2, attack hits here and there, plus a Drain = 3 spiders webs and a spider torque! :) I had to Manafont for that last Thundaga 3. Won with about 870HP left. I subbed THF also.

1/1 {All right!}

came across it as mithra BLM59/WHM29
STR 42
DEX 65+3
VIT 42+5
AGI 62+6
INT 62+5
MND 49+3
CHR 46+3
142 ATT 218 DEF
Magic skills, evasion, parrying etc capped, scythe 113

EQUIP:
Ivory Sickle
Morion Tathlum
Empress Hairpin
Peacock Amulet
Dodge earring x2
Wizard's coat (AF1)
Wizard's gloves (AF1)
Ether ring & Astral ring
Red cape +1
Life belt
Wizard's toban (AF1)
Wizard's sabots (AF1)

FOOD&Medicines: none
Spells: Stoneskin, Paralyze, Slow, Blind, Protect II, Aero III (once 390dmg), Aero II (once 179dmg), Drain

Basic idea was to melee it (for fun and skill, got 0.6 skill total). But the Spider turned out to be a challenge. Had to Manafont at 14% HP. Used Drain (~4% HP) and Aero II (~4% HP). Got 3 webs and 32 XP. Total dmg done was 4638. My melee accuracy was 94.23% with 69.07dmg avg. Weaponskill of choice was Dark Harvest for 130dmg, 16dmg, 136dmg, 145dmg, 35dmg (wtf -.-). I had to use Regen once and drained a total of 448HP. Also i evaded 62 attacks toal (50.41%) and took 1064 dmg. I ended the fight with 4oo/727 HP and 4/7ooMP.

Note: both Sleep and elemental Seal + Sleep II got resisted. So it is sleepable, but chances are obviously slim.

It's been awhile since ive camped her now there are other ways to get webs but i can almost swear a couple of those times if not more a high lvl rdm friend (high 60's) slept this without elemental seal cause i was resting mp was like 30/900 something and he was fighting a cactus or lost soul i aggrod ^^; but been awhile maybe all he did was bind but i know he was in range for it to attack him if it was just bound and not slept, who knows try it again once your in the higher 60's i would go out and try to Shiva Sleepga it but meh her pop time is so terrible i eventually got tired of camping her for the webs, and just moved on to find other spider mobs to get them from. Well have fun ^^

Yep pretty rare drop currently 1/4 on it solo and like 0/15++ with friends etc.. currently got mine stashed away cause its so rare i hate to part with it ^^; solo'd at lvl 56smn (57 now ^^;)pretty easily if you have carby mitts or have a decent mp pool weak against Shiva {Ice} just run around G-8 killing the spiders she can be quite shy at times though ; ; good luck.

Note: If you try to solo at around the lvl i do sneak will be a must usually 1 sabotender around and 1 scorpion and at night Lost Souls that like to cast lvl 2 magic XD.

0/5, but she droped 3 webs each time, plus i stole a web 4/5. And she spawned at 90min most of the time so its not all that bad. Webs are good if you have crafter friends leveling off it :P
0 - Spider torque
21 - Spider webs <Yes, Please>
( a few droped off the odd ph )

0/7 on her so far. From what I've gathered, she is a 4 hour spawn. She hasn't popped before the 4 hour mark for me yet.

She's not too tough for me (67DRK/33THF). Sickle Slash isn't that bad if you have decent HP and have a way of bringing it back up if you get low.

Note: me, as ur standard THF63/nin31, wipes the floor with Dune Widow. Not using any food, buffs, status bolts or spells apart from Utsusemi: Ichi (and no, that doesn't mean i can just blink tank it). So basically ANY class lvl65+ (with usual subs) should have no problem dealing with this NM (accept BRD/WHM might find himself at a loss).

Updated: 76.2 cloth now with the new expansion spider webs are extremely easy and abundant on my server price went from a average of 25k-30k down to about 9-12k, so much cheaper now to get to 80, much better then living out in the deserts for months on end, currently working on subs hehe =D Have fun ^^
