Summary

A Sin Run is a term for an organized "hunt" for the various sin weapons. Each weaopn drops from it's respective skeleton NM. It takes a minimum of 7 people, and each of those people needs to be able to kill a different skull, because ALL SEVEN are popped at the same time. You have to beware of blood agro, no matter what level. It is easiest to do this with level 75 jobs, or jobs that are paired off to duo-fight the skeletons.

All information provided is from FFXI-Atlas and Allakhazam.

Sins

The 7 deadly sins are: Envy, Gluttony, Greed, Lust, Pride, Sloth, and Wrath

The stats for each of the skeletons are as follows:

  • Level: 60
  • Aggro
  • Linking
  • Based on Earth
  • Weak against Fire
  • Weak against Light

Maps

Everyone enters The Eldieme Necropolis. There is a specific position for each person. More information about how to get to that position is below.

These are all the maps associated with the run. Click on a map to enlarge it.

Walkthrough

Everyone must be at each spot at the same time, and everyone trades a flint stone to the tallow candle. The candles only stay lit a short time, and if you zone--they will go out. Once traded, the flame only lasts a short amount of time, so coordination is required. Once all 7 candles are lit; all NM Skeletons will pop. Drop rate is bad, but they do have good gems. You can do this as many times as you want, respawn is an hour from when the last skeleton dies.

Now, how to get to the appropriate position:

NM Drops Position in The Eldieme Necropolis Position from Batallia Downs How to get to that position
Skull of Envy Earth Crystal, Bone Chip, Jadeite, Envy Spear A-8 D-6 Enter Eldieme from Batallia Downs at 8th entrance, position D-6. Go north-west until you get to position A-8.
Skull of Gluttony Earth Crystal, Bone Chip, Chrysoberyl, Gluttony Sword J-6 G-7 Enter Eldieme from Batallia Downs at 5th entrance, position G-7. Go east, then north, until you get to position J-6.
Skull of Greed Earth Crystal, Bone Chip, Fluorite, Greed Scimitar K-7 I-10 Enter Eldieme from Batallia Downs at 1st entrance, position I-10. Once inside, get to position G-6 (may need help with doors), and drop through hole in the floor (Hole B). Once on ground floor, go north-west to position K-8 (almost K-7). Make a right (go east) and then go north to get to position K-7.
Skull of Lust Earth Crystal, Bone Chip, Painite, Lust Dagger K-12 I-10 Enter Eldieme from Batallia Downs at 1st entrance, position I-10. Once inside, get to position G-9 (may need help with doors), and drop through hole in the floor (Hole D). Once on ground floor, go south until you get to L-13, then go west to get to K-13.
Skull of Pride Earth Crystal, Bone Chip, Aquamarine, Pride Staff I-10 I-10 Enter Eldieme from Batallia Downs at 1st entrance, position I-10. Once inside, get to position G-9 (may need help with doors), and drop through hole in the floor (Hole D). Once on ground floor, go slightly east then south and you will be on another map. Keep going south-east to get to position I-10.
Skull of Sloth Earth Crystal, Bone Chip, Zircon, Sloth Wand G-10 G-8 Enter Eldieme from Batallia Downs at 4th entrance, position G-8. Go south-east until you get to position G-10.
Skull of Wrath Earth Crystal, Bone Chip, Sunstone, Wrath Tabar E-6 F-5 This one is slightly tricky. You need to enter Eldieme from Batallia Downs at the 7th entrance, F-5. To get to that position you need to enter from Beaucedine Glacier. You can get to Beaucedine Glacier one of 2 ways:
  1. Teleport-Vazhl, walk from Xarcabard to Beaucedine Glacier to Batallia Downs.
  2. Walk from East Ronfaure to Ranguemont Pass to Beaucedine Glacier to Batallia Downs.
Once inside, go south-east until you get to position E-6.

Hard to believe....
# Nov 05 2006 at 9:20 AM Rating: Decent
Ok guys let's get real. The sword is good, but I find it very hard to believe that 7 lv. 70+ are needed (in perfect coordination) to get it. There's 10 Gluttony Swords on auction on Sylph right now. If you needed 7 75's to kill NM's, and the drop rate was bad on top of that, I just don't see how so many Gluttony Swords would be in existence. The 7 perfectly coordinated lv 75's would probably prefer going for a better item like Algol.

There must be a way I can get this sword solo as a 75 PLD. Has anyone done it?

This is.. really...annoying. Most of this info is wrong, but I managed to get people to help out with this, and it worked. It takes a minumum of 7 people, and each of those people need to be able to kill a different skull, because ALL SEVEN pop at the same time. And you have to beware of blood agro, no matter what level, and one candel is in the land of ever agro.

I've scoped things out, and I finally understand what must be done. Consider this map:

http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/maps_normal2/0043_eldieme-necropolis_3.jpg

(More complete map here)

What I am after is to pop the Skull of Gluttony, a lv60 Lich, more or less. At each of the spots on the map A-8, E-6, G-10, J-6, K-7, K-12. There is a 7th. That one is on the road that leads to the island in Batilla downs, on this map, at I-10:

http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/maps_normal2/0043_eldieme-necropolis_1.jpg

Everyone must be at each spot about the same time, and everyone trades a flint stone to the tallow candle. The candels only stay lit a short time, and if you zone--they will go out.

Now... A-8, G-10, K-7 and K-12 are easy. You can walk to them, and even a level 65 shouldnt get any agro. Just look at the map, and find the right entrance.

E-6 is accessable only via the northlands, so a lv75 whm should go there and light it, again, without any agro.

I-10 (of other map) is a bit trickier, cause you need to work the switches from the main most southern entrance in Battilla. You must drop down from the floor in G-9, just drop from the CENTER square; its a tricky drop..one square off and you're by the Strange Aparatus. This is the same place to go to get to the other map that leads to the island. This area, I belive, contains mobs that will agro lv75, so sneak is needed.

Once traded, the flame only lasts a short amount of time, so coordination is required. Once all 7 are done; all 7 will pop by their respective candels. And they are NM so you can zone w/o trouble. I solo'd the Skull Of Gluttony as lv75 whm/pld without any trouble. A level 75 smn solo'd the Skull of Envy. The BST, NIN and RDM had little trouble too.

Drop rate is bad, but they do have good gems.

Whats NOT listed in the description is the fact that you have to light ALL of the candles and the last one you light will spawn the skeleton. IF you look at the map, this entails a lot of work; Xarabara entrance, several of them where you have to drop and go back up, switches, etc. Something that requires a group of people not to kill it, but to just pop it.

I've soloed him as a 72 Galka MNK with DEF gear. I'd wager that a 75 MNK of any race should be able to solo him just fine.
Hmmm

You spawn the NMs by trading a "Flint Stone" to a "Tallow Candle" .. There are 7 you need to light total spread through out The Eldieme Necropolis. This particular NM is reached by going through the (G-7) Entrance of Battalia Downs.

You can do all 7 using the same Flint stone its not lost in the trade. and its said there is a one hour cool down before you can trade to the candle to spawn them again.

I don't know if this info is up.. didn't feel like siftin through all the server price qoutes.. but here it is in all its glory for other pld intereseted in gettin it and not knowing where to look for the info on it.
STOP!

k stop about the price how do we kill this NM for the gluttony sword. Cuz I want the sword but don't want to waste the money. I like spending it on other things more worthwhile like skilling up my crafts.

The price of the sword is going up!, but I garauntee the price of everything else in the world is too. So just go farm. its not like the prices of everything besides the sword stays the same! Its not that hard to make 40k in like 1/2 hour with the prices of everything!

# Jan 18 2006 at 12:22 AM Rating: Decent
ok, ok, i think we all get it, the price is HIGH
not everyone who reads this needs to go OH HEY LET ME CHECK THE AUCTION HOUSE AND POST TO. Lets give info out on how to kill things in here, and give people info on how to kill it and what to do instead of saying on every friggin post "yeah its like 1mil" "2mil here" "3 mil here" for all those who said that.

DO YOU WANT A FREAKING MEDAL FOR IT BEING SO HIGH PRICED ON YOUR SERVER?!
-Sigh-

This is about 500k atm on Valefor, it did go down to 450k a couple of weeks ago. I bought a earth staff but to be honest i don't think i'll need it any time soon. Looks nice though XD

For me at least 500k is a respectable price to pay, since most PLD gear is cheap, even the IM+1 gear is only fractionally higher. So after a little bit of farming or a couple of sucessful BCNM's this item doesn't seem all that expensive.

I'll say this though...Glad i'm not on fairy!

Unfortunately, I AM from Cerberus. This dude, the genius, is the same who routinely goes out RDM/PLD "just to be different."

It's not a matter of following the crowd, ***. It's a matter of what works and what simply doesn't. When you "just be different," you may think you're the only one hurt... but when the party gets wiped out because one of your Dispels gets resisted because PLD sub doesn't give you sufficient INT (MND? I forget. It's late), you hurt others. I guess what I'm really trying to say is...

Pull your head out of your ***.

In the manner of the OP to my reply:
I'm Speedly on Cerberus Server! a (currently) 60 PLD -WITH- full AF and one of these swords. That I farmed my *** off for.

Do us a favor and delete your account immediately, Fry.

OK! I think it's safe to say your a newb.

"i don't feel like buyin more gil for this sword or bug people 2 get AF"

It's called 'farming' you should try it sometime instead of paying a couple hundred dollars for 1 mil gil. Damn man, lvl your THF to 15 and go farm! Go to Ordelle's cave and camp stroper chyme you might get lucky. Or you can tyr Davoi, Castle Oxtroja, and so on. It's not -that- hard to make gil. -.-
