Overlord Bakgodek Picture

Bakgodek was entrusted by the Emperor himself with the entire legion of Quon continent Orcs. He has some peculiar ruling practices, but keeps his influence stronger than most human nations. One of these is the use of multiple decoys to protect himself.

Some/all of the information in this article has been culled from various FFXI guides, and translated by Elmer the Pointy.

Overlord Bakgodek

Hi Everyone. I can tell you that he can be taken down with a 6 member Set up. Only thing is you need a seriously bad *** Paladin/Ninja or Ninja/Warrior. Which I did him as a Paladin/Ninja. Oh yah for you who think a pld/nin wont ever be like a nin/war maybe you need to learn how to play a pld/nin before you ramble on about it. Only reason I say pld/nin do have an advantage is if you make a mistake and shadows are down you have defense to take the hits. Also you have Sentinel and you will be able to use it at least 3 times, mp to keep hate, Flash which you will be spamming like all hell. I for instance have 600 mp on my Paladin so I never had a problem with even getting below 50% mp through this fight. He has neverending hp so be prepared you need some serious DDs. We had thief x 2, Dark knight which was only lvl 70, monk 75, ME paladin/nin and a redmage. It was awesome not to mention tons of fun. Jugga didnt drop by the way. Biggest thing if your tanking him. Turn off all your filters you do not want to miss a shadow on this guy. Especially for his ws they are brutal. He can drop you from full hp to death in one quick move. So I am just here to let you know for all you who say this cant be done with a 6 member Party um... yes it can, you just need some Bad *** Players who know what they are doing.

This mob can also drop a Damascus Ingot. After nearly 20 kills, one finally dropped for us.

Edit: it also still drops Juggernaut, although not a 100% drop rate on it anymore.

lol ok i don't see how you all said you did this with 5 people. Either they buffed him incrediblly or we were doing something really wrong. It took us a 3 party alliance to take this thing down with 10 of which all 75. Had 2 ninja's and bounced back and forth and almost wiped several times. We finally got him down though after about an hour fight and got the Sword and the Axe. woo. gil.

Day of the Wars
# Sep 18 2006 at 3:13 AM Rating: Decent
2nd time our LS claimed this we had 2 WARs for tanks (I was one). We pulled to the back zone and zoned adds while a low lvl NIN and others held him.
The other war and i had about 14-16% haste and since our eva is uber crap we had brd give us marchx2 and haste from rdms.
I was also packing my joy toy so with that and woodsville axe i pretty much had no dealy. Ni recast was about 21 secs to lol so we both had no trouble what so ever blink tank this.
All was going very good to about 50% when i stuffed up my uts count and had shadows down.... then i got hit by a Slam Dunk for about 1500 something.
Straight away we all thought it was over and GSs where gonna get another Juggy. I ate a R1 and got straight back into Overlord, during the whole time i was weakened and being raise the other WAR straight up tanked him for awhile.
After that we all unloaded 2hrs and was victorious.
Setup was:
RNG, THF, MNK, SMN, BRD, RDMx2, WARx2 (All 75) and 70 NIN

Overlord Bakgodek is a lottery spawn for Orcish Overlord.
Orcish Overlord 21-24hrs every 30 mins there is a 1min window like Fafnir and others.
Overlord Bakgodek 3-7 day lottery pop for Orcish Overlord.
Bakgodek is a King and the pop times are the same as other kings like Fafnir/Nidhogg Behemoth/King Behemoth.
Lets say the window opens at 8:00am every 30mins there is a 1min window when Orcish Overlord/Overlord Bakgodek can pop. So at 8:30-8:31 a window will be open for them to pop.
And also Juggernaut is a %100 drop so if you think your lucky when it drops dont be be lucky you got claim instead lol.

The question: Is this supposed to be the same guy as the Orcish Overlord? They wear the same equipment, unlike the other NQ/HQ Beastmen leaders. Or are all HQ beastmen leaders supposed to be the same guys as the NQ leaders?

The correction: The description says he shares spawn with the Warlord, when it's actually with the Overlord. ^_^;

Oh, and a lot of people ask if those gold things are his teeth. They are not.

How can you say anything about anyone being stupid if you can't even spell the word "STUPID"

Though I do admit people spend a lot more time complaining than playing.

My ls just pwned this mob with the alliance of another ls. We got the drop, and everything went well. WE had a total of 16 players. We are selling it for 30 mil hopefully on slyph server. Man we rocked it. Me and Excelcia were farming when we saw it pop. I gather my ls, and some stray ls came, and we teamed with em. Pleasure doing business. WE gave Valtaru the axe for safe keeping. Chirstopher got the Nightmare sword. Yay for us!

30million if you want it. Give Valtaru or Articlion the tell. Juggernaut was the weapon.
Gilsellers + Bakgodek = fun fun
# Dec 25 2005 at 10:15 PM Rating: Decent
My experience with Bakgo-whathisface.

Basically, it was hell, but a fun version of hell where the Gilsellers lose.

After waiting with my LS (for about 5 hours) and 3 other LS showing up (including GS) He pops. Some JP LS (black pearls) get claim and Gilsellers (purply pearl) MPK and steal claim. After the original claimers get back up, everyone in the zone is throwing mobs at the Gilsellers. Turns out in the end, after a lot of deaths GS call for help and run away. Had to log around here (3am) but I found out the next day that with some help from the other yellow LS, original claimers were given back claim and the Juggernaut. This is a post by one of the guys from the yellow LS (BtL) in his live journal, basically gives the full story.

INFO ON POP TIMES

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=10&mid=11255603289704772

orcish warlord pops ever 15 minutes
orcish overlord pops every 21-24 hours
overlord bakodek pops every 5-7 days

bakodek is a beastman king and runs on the same pop timers as NMs like king bemoth or aspid or nidhogg.

overlord bakodek pops every 5-7 days

This may be the case most times, but wasn't true for my LS over the last 3 days. Saturday night was a HQ pop, Sunday night was a NQ pop, and tonight (Monday) was a HQ pop. Sadly, my ls got the initial claim on Bakgodek, but we were mpk'd by Ifrit's friendly neighborhood gil sellers (Beet's crew if you happen to be on Ifrit). Which resulted in loss of claim, and them getting the kill.

Our fight took about an hour. The NIN main tank (my wife) did die twce, due to unfortunate coincidental timing between the HNM's skills and her blink recast.

NIN does marvelously tanking this; the real risk is getting caught with shadows down, because the guy hits like a freight train.

He has some amazing hit points and defense.
My Asuran Fists was lucky to hit over 250 on him, and twice didn't hit above 68 >_<

The two occasions that the NIN fell, our PLD took over tanking him, NIN raised, zoned, healed, returned.

We fought the adds/pops in the tunnel, and even pulled from further down the tunnel, for the WAR and PLD and myself to get TP on (PLD tanked those) while the NIN solo'd the Overlord.

We didn't want to give him TP, ourselves.

Once we gained TP, WAR and I did Darkness chain on him (Asuran Fists > Steel Cyclone), SA/TA onto the NIN, and went back to the adds for more TP.

PLD would work up 300 TP and run up to do Spirits Within.

We had also a RDM, BLM, WHM, BST, BRD and SMN.

The mages.. I have no idea what they were doing (I'm clueless about mages in general), but they did it well.

Huge MBs, summoned avatars everywhere, healing, raising...
The RDM would zone out to use Convert so as not to get killed by an ill-timed AoE.
The mages would zone out to shed hate as needed.

BST's Courier Carrie was a real champ, often backup tanking as the NIN worked to reestablish hate after dying.

The PLD died once as well, and the BST died during the pull, but otherwise, we did great and kept it under amazing (to me) control the whole time.

This being my first HNM, really, I was worried about all the stuff I'd heard about other teams claiming it when you start to lose it, but no one else was around; we had the experience all to ourselves (he never did go unclaimed anyway).

Our levels were a mix of 71-75.
It was an exciting fight, and best of all, our WAR got the axe, which was what he wanted all along ^^

First, the juggernaut is a 100% drop from this guy.

Me and my ls tried to kill him yesterday, we had 12 people. There were 2 other ls's there. We had him to around 40% hp and one of the other ls's stolw him from us by using charm. They said that wea all zoned, but one of our thfs wwas still in there fighitng him, and he had hate when the ls used charm. So that ls did mpk and a few of us died.

Then the third ls, the strongest NA ls on my server,t ried to take it from the second ls because the second ls is crap. The third ls killed overlord and by doing the noble thing, are splitting the juggernaut with us. I wont say any names.
    fun battle.

Easiest way to pull is probably to have a thf do a suicide pull. Just hit flee -> perfect dodge, then run through the middle of the platform and agro every orc in sight, including the Overlord. Run near your party, camped by the ??? for LB3, and let them voke the Overlord off. After they voke, pull the remaining mobs back towards the Banishing Wall zone, and try to die where it will be easy to raise you. If you can make it to the zoneline, so much the better.

We killed this guy the other day. I love how he still talks crap afterwards "Foolish children of Altana, killing me won't change anything. More will come from the North" And the other NM orc and hexspinner both added on while we were killing him, so a PLD and myself killed them while the main group continued on Overlord, they are nothing. He dropped juggernaut, nightmare sword, phoenix feather, and some other stuff.

Killed him in 20 minutes with:

    NIN75
    WAR75
    RNG75
    BLM75
    BLM70
    RDM70
    SMN69

Was a pretty easy fight, but only because of utsusemi preventing just about all damage from being taken. If utsusemi on the NIN went down, the WAR or myself would take hate with provoke or a WS and blink him for a bit untill the NIN could regain hate. His normal hits did 350-450 damage to me as RNG75, so a PLD would take a beating and a half from this guy. Additionally, he steals almost all of your TP every time he hits you, meaning with a PLD tank, he's going to be spamming battle dance/aerial wheel/etc. After 20 minutes or so though, this is what we got:

    http://img158.exs.cx/img158/5694/drops7ki.jpg

    :D

    PS: The 1 HP at the end was from trying to finish him off with slug shot > barrage > slug shot > EES ^^;;

It took us two hours to ALMOST kill him. He had so little HP that you could breath on him the wrong way and kill him...half the people were really low on health and AOE knocked the wrong people out. There was no coming back after that. It was really fun to fight him, I think I only died 4 times during the fight. It was a learning experience...he's ours next time!

I'm fairly sure this guy is 85.

Took it last night with 7 people. Gave 120 exp I think to me, the lvl 70.

We had level 75s in the party, so that means if this guy was 77, then he would have conned T to them, and the exp given for a small alliance would have been much lower.

Yag aren't the smartest Beastmen, they're actually near the bottom of the chain. I think it goes something like this.
    Antica -> Demon -> Goblin -> Gigas -> Sahagin -> Yagudo -> Orc -> Quadav
That's the closest i remember my friend telling me. Had a whole discussion on it. <.< >.>

in truth goblins are smartest,... they can make bombs and they even live in towns with us. They run stores and even have there own town Movapolis so saying antica are smartest... well... doesn't seem logical.

Maybe because Yagudos are the smartest of the beastmen?

Think about it: Yagudo summoners, samurai, ninjas, bards. What do orcs have? All the hard-hitting melee: dark knights, dragoons, monks, etc..

It makes sense in it's wacky ways.
