So i was casually hunting rams in konschat as galka 30mnk/7rng and i saw this guy. Some lvl 25 guy had been asking me to do a mission with him so i decided to ask him to help me kill it(thinking it couldnt be THAT much tougher than a tremor ram). i used my 2hr and everything else i had in my abilities, then threw a pebble at him. He then came over to me and took about 5 hits to kill me :(, and proceeded to kill the lvl 25 in 2 hits lol, i will now avoid him at all costs :).

I and a RNG LVL 74 and a lvl 72 THIEF took it down. THF got worried after the MP/HP down but used Bloody bolts and his 2-hour and survived. No drop 0.0;

Um.. that was a craptacular post about the level 75 BLM not being able to take it.. maybe it they're a gimp or something.
I was hunting Rampagin Ram in Kon today with a friend (I'm 54 THF/ 22 RNG at the time.. he was 51 RDM/ 5 RNG), and after about an hour, Steelfleece pops. I was surprised, and just got some screenshots (3rd time I've seen him).. but my friend wanted to fight it anyway. I didn't really care, but I knew I'd level down if I died, so I said that I was gonna warp out if need be. He uses Phalanx, Stoneskin, and some en-spell, and engages it. I said what the hell and jump in with a good 600 damage VB, use some food, and start hackin' away. My friend loses his Stoneskin in one shot, and is getting hit for 120+ damage after that. Silly Mithra RDM. He Cure IVs a few times, I'm still hackin' away, get off another Sneak Attack, doing around 40-50 with normal hits, 300+ with SA. My friend dies after about 2 minutes, and the thing turns on me. It had around 5/6 of its HP left at this point, so I try to steal, then mug. Think I failed mugging, don't remember. It misses me a few times, hits for around 85 damage. This is without earrings, cape, belt, or necklace, too, since I was farming...
After about a minute and a half of getting missed and occasionally hit, I'm at around 300 HP, and all my x-bow shots are missing, so I decide it's time to leave. I throw on flee, equip my Warp Cudgel, and get the hell outta there. It had just over 3/4 HP left at this point.
I'm running for 20 seconds, and my Warp Cudgel is almost charged by the time he pulls me in (Usually mobs do it sooner.. especially mimics), but I'm still running and he doesn't even get a hit off. Cudgel charges right as I lose Flee. I mash perfect dodge, then ***** up a macro and miss using Warp. After about 15-20 seconds of P Dodge, I realize I'm not warping and hit warp.. P Dodge wears off at 70% casting time, it crits and puts me at 40 HP. I respawn in Jeuno dead and leveled down. Though a nice AF WHM R2'd me right away and got me back to 54, so no real loss there. I must say, that was a ton of fun. Can't wait to get an LS group together an kill 'im for real next time.

Just trying to get rid of most of the bull on this NM. First off, a lvl 75 blm and 71 whm cant solo it(first hand experience). I was a 41 blm/rng just fooling around in kon. highlands killing rams/elementals while waiting on a party. Then see steelfleece on widescan. I've known about him for a while and knew he was way out of my league, so I get a lvl 71 whm/blm to help, thinking we could kill it together easy. Boy was I wrong, we quickly cast buffs and rested to full hp/mp. Then headed over to kill it. Well after about 10 mins of fighting we had maybe 1/20th of its hp gone, and we were nearly out of mp. The whm says he is gonna warp because its a lost cause, so i say ok. I didnt want to warp at the time, because my hp was in jeuno and i didnt want to have to find another teleport, so i start running for zone to dunes. Well, the whm teleports and I think im so far ahead of it im safe. Well, next thing i know im dead, that thing can draw you in(teleport straight to you). So I homepoint and the whitemage goes back again and fights it for a few minutes..saying its fun. I got teleported with him on accident. Well same thing about, we about die but this time i warp instead of running away. Then i suggest we get help, so the WHM(71 if you forgot) quickly get a 75 blm/whm from his linkshell. The 75 blm/whm goes out on his own, thinking he can solo him, while we go get another one of his ls members doing something in qufim. We zone to qufim from jeuno and the blm starts saying hes running low on mp so hurry up. Well we invite his friend, a lvl 70 drk/thf, and quickly teleport to dem. We run to steelfleece and engage, drk was hitting for 200+ and using guillotine to get hate. WHM was curing and me(42 blm/rng) and the lvl 75 blm/whm was nuking. My nukes werent doing much damage..guess since im like 20+ lvls below it. After about 7-10 minutes(it seemed) we finally killed him. We got rampaging horn, 3 hides, and 1 regular horn. All i wanted was the title you get from killing him, but they ended up giving me horn because they had no use for it. I thanked them all and warpedII the drk/thf, and set there with the whm and blm. They said their goodbyes and we disbanded. The blm warped but the whm stayed in kon. highlands. Said he was farming sheep skins. Well i quickly get a party so no more exciting battles for today. Anyway from what I learned from this, a lvl 75blm cannot solo him, and a 71 whm cant solo him. Even together i doubt they would come close to getting 1/2 his hp off. I'm telling you no lvl 30s even in an alliance can take him, to clear up some of these posts. Let this be a guide for you, an alliance of 50s, or a party of 60s to take him. It took 3 lvl 70s to take him down for me, i dont really count because i didnt help much. If you wanna argue and say that we didnt have good gear or something, /tell me on carbuncle and come and check me. My name is Leprechaun which some of you may know. I give all of you gl on killing this NM. He is extremely hard for us normal players. I dunno, a 75 bst or 75 rdm might could solo him. He was hitting the 70s in our party for 100+ damage very fast, and we had a couple close calls on our blm. If you and your buddies wanna go out and kill him for title or something, i recommend a FULL party of 60+s. I dunno why but hearing all this talking of low lvls taking him out pisses me off. I was a 41 blm/rng with +29 int and my nukes werent doing crap. Blizzard went through once for about 80 damage. But most of the time my big spells like Fire II that usually do about 230+ damage were doing about 30 damage.

i saw this guy twice in one day. I was camping for rampaging rams for about 12 hours for the rampaging horn so I could finish the "Silence of the Rams" quest. It never spawned (well not that i could see on widescan), but Steelfleece did twice, one when i first arrived, the second after logging back on after 1 hr maintence on pandemonium. Neddless to say, I was pissed...who sees steelfleece twice in one day, but never Rampaging? :/

Just seen this beast on Garuda. A Red Mage combo called Centaur beat the thing solo in about 15 - 20 minutes. My party was waiting for Stray Mary and someone tagged her before us (extremely annoying), then Steelfleece appeared about 20 seconds after she was killed!

My party was the first to see it so we shouted to inform others. A few more gathered than Centaur turned up and started fighting it. Great to watch, and the 3rd NM I've seen so far. Only 600+ to go!

I was absolutely amazed at how huge it was. The picture above doesn't do justice at all, as it looks a lot smaller on there.

this hnm anhilated my 52 whm today, got too close while taking screenshots... aggroe... d'oh, anyway a lvl 70 rng, 60-something rdm, and 54 whm take him with little difficulties. no shield drop

i fought this ram like 3 days ago, i was in my way to jeuno and see a pt 60-65 of 5 members fighting it so i asked the leader if he can ivite me and he invited me so we fight it and kill it in like 15 mins it have a lot of hp. no drop :(

Haha i remember when i first saw this beast, i was just starting out with my WHM lvl 9 trying to get to Valkrum when i heard some earth quakes, being the inquisitive guy i am, i followed them and saw a HUGE sheep thing in the middle of a low valley. I just ran right up to it and /poked it, amazed at its size when it grunted suddenly and smacked me down for, i belive, 800+
Lesson learned: Never poke a HNM in the eye, it can only have horrible outcomes
