Vana'diel Bestiary: Bloodtear Baldurf  

Damn guys i LOVE your stories!!!! I am a level 60 Taru NIN and you have no idea how happy it would make me to tank this big guy. With 200+ evasion he should have a good time trying to hit me. This kind of thing is why i play the game, I want to tank HUGE NMs /cheer.

I was on a chocobo headed for Gustav tunnel for my PT. I was like "Ooo items for me!". I hop off. I thought somethings wrong, that's way bigger then a lumbering or tremor. Bloodtear Baldurf? Must be some ultra rare NM. And then it aggroed and right after I got off a "oMG <t> (Bloodtear Baldurf)" to my party, I was dead. Someone in my PT said it spawns like 3-4 days! Too bad, I didn't even get a screenshot >.<;

i was a lvl 41 sam getting back from a mission on a chocbo and i see this i though since i was in la theine i could kick it *** it killed me in 6 hits and i delvl i was like wtf why do they put a lvl 63 in la thenine!!!!!! and why couldn't of i statied on my chocbo waah and i got a screen shot of me dead him him laughing at me

While helping a friend camp Lumbering Lambert for it's horn for Purple Belt quest, Bloodtear Baldurf spawned. He spawned after three hours of killing rams on the NW corner of H-9. Since my friend (lvl 63 thf) had subbed rng to help find the rams, she ran back to San D'Oria to get nin subbed. We also did a general call to the LS for anyone to come out to help. In the meantime I was kiting Bloodtear (as much as I could since, like all HNM's, he draws you near when you get too far) using Gravity, all the while trying to keep stoneskin and phalanx up. I threw in a Bio II when I could, though I didn't notice the hp bar move at all. After about 10 minutes of "kiting", the calvary arrived. My friend was still on choco on the way from San D'Oria, so our other thf/nin (lvl 64) tanked, I helped melee (we did scission SC for a measly 143 =P) and debuffed, our other rdm/whm (lvl 65) healed, and a lvl 62 blm was our nuker. Took about 12 minutes once everyone else arrived, and down it went ^^. Definitely doable with a pt of 62-65. No shield drop, but we got the lumbering horn for my friend ^^.

I watched a lvl 75 drg/nin and a high lvl whm(not sure on specifics) take this guy on. He used mighty strike about 5 times and also used some sort of AoE that took max HP down.
Was about a 7 minute fight or so. Dont see why a party of 65+ couldnt take him. He hits hard though so use a blink tank if possible. Drops viking shield which sells for a mil 0.0

I have encountered BloodTear 4 times now the first time i encountered him i was on a Choco and jumped off to fight a normal ram when i was about to attack the ram he came up behind me and flattened me like a pancake 2nd time i was a lvl 18 DRK going to the dunes to get to 20 when i dropped of the ledge to take the little short cut he was hiding behind the wall and aggroed me and the was a lvl 15 mnk just standing there afk and didnt get aggroed so i sent a /tell to 2 friends and Homepointed went back a found him and joined there party and i did a total of 15 dmg to him with 3 drains! 3rd time i was on my monk coming back from dunes escorting a low lvl and i found him he was just standing there so i told the same friends and they got the pretty quick but not before the lower lvl decided to try and get a good SS and died he tried to blame it on me but i told him he would die 4th time i was on my MNK/THF and i had the same people come and kill it but this time we had a 45 thf in the party and even tho noone died it sucked BECAUSE IN THE 4 FIGHTS THERE WAS NOT A SINGAL DROP!

I've got a funny story about this guy as well. So one day im helping some people out getting coffer key's in Castle Zvahl Bailey's when suddenly my ls starts crying that they need a tank and they need it fast, i quickly asked "what did you find" they responded with "BLOODTEAR!!!" so i get my *** a D2 from the blm quickly run into jeuno shouting for 5K Teleport-Holla which gave me more trouble when i had 30+ /tell's for a tele i get in one and shouldnt of acted rude but told the guy he needed to go right then and he responded with "I need a full party before i teleport" so i disband and grab the next /tell whm and get tele by the time i get there everyone was severly bruised and beaten into a pulp 3 dead 3 half alive i quickly Provoke and use Mighty Strikes berserk aggressor and whatnot trying to beat him down before anyone else could die, sadly i was down in less than 20 seconds without a mage healing me. We knew we were gonna die but didn't want it to end there so we tell our thf friend to get his *** in la thiene and try to kite him around surprisingly enough the thf held his own long enough for us to get there after homepointing and teleporting mages quickly spammed cure's all over the thief while i once again stare down the eyes of this beast and Provoke it once again only this time we're prepared and we kill him in less than 3 minutes, sadly no shield for the 1-1.5k exp loss =[

I tanked him as DRG72/RNG1 it was me, a lvl 55RNG, 68WHM and 2 other(lower lvl), cant remember what jobs.
It was a tough fight but we got him down.
He have alot of HP but no defence, the RNG did 2000+ sidewinder on him.

I know this is only my second post on the Allakhazam board, but I've been lurking around reading all the great information for a while. I just really wanted to share this story with my fellow gamers and Hornsplitter hopefuls. ^^

I am now known as The Hornsplitter! \(*_*)/ Today after breaking from an EXP party in the Valley of Sorrows, myself (lvl 60 PLD), and a few members from my static party (60 RNG, 60 WHM, and 59 DRK) were just goofing off and tele'ing to the various crags while we thought of something fun to do for a while before we all logged. So, we end up on the telepad at the Crag of Holla, and my RNG half-jokingly said, "I wonder if Bloodtear is up" and runs off checking his widescan. We wait a minute, and he tells us he doesn't see anything on WS. (At this point, I'm a little relieved, because I remember Baldurf putting the smack down on me when I was lvl 55 and trying frantically to run away after I got too close trying for a screenie...stupid "draw-you-in" ability *grumbles*.) SO, all of a sudden the RNG yells, "HE'S HERE! BLOODTEAR!"

As we're running over to him, we decide to recruit the nearest members from our LS to come and help us out, because yeah baby, we're pumped and we're going to take this NM on. Another RNG on the shell was the closest at the time in Jeuno, so we tell her to haul booty and meet us out on La Theine 5 minutes ago. We get to the spot, and standing there in all his gigantic sheepy glory was Baldurf, unclaimed. And he's BIG. As in, big big. Frickin' huge. I think I'll call him Stampy...

We all just stood there for a moment in awe, then suddenly Bloodtear turns around and charges right for us. He tags the DRK a good one (ouchies, sorry Dar...) before I get my head together and hit my 'Voke macro...

I swear, I have never in my entire PLD career been prouder to be a tank until this huge monster swung his head around and blatted right in my face. ^^ I play on the PS2, so my controller is rumbling uncontrollably as BB stomps around butting his head into me. My heart is racing, macros are firing, we're doing pretty alright, and then, it happens. DRK lets go with a huge WS, my hate falters, and Bloodtear is now very interested in a certain scythe slinger. He scrambles to get around behind me for Cover, and boom!

DRK is defeated by Bloodtear Baldurf. (; ; Sorry, Dar...)

And then there were 3...one of things that made this fight so exciting is that we were cheering each other on the whole time, and talking smack to Bloodtear lol. BB was missing me, a -lot-.../em kisses her Drone Earrings and capped Evasion skill! He tried his Petribreath attack which missed o.O;;, one attack that brought the RNG into very scary red HP, and he used Mighty Strikes twice. The first time, I threw up Invincible, and laughed maniacially as Bloodtear's "Critical Hits!" hit me each time for 0 damage. The second time, the WHM had just used Benediction, so my HP was full and only barely got into the yellow by the time Strikes wore off (I didn't even realize the WHM had Bene'd at first, until he mentioned he was surprised he didn't draw aggro... I was too busy staring Bloodtear right between his beady little eyes lol). Then with a Barrage immediately followed by an Eagle Eye Shot for around 780 damage, the RNG brought our fight to a close. The crash this mob made hitting the ground was pure satisfaction.

At this point I realized we had a pretty large crowd of people (including 2 RNGs who showed up from our LS) around us watching, and /cheering us on! Bloodtear dropped your usual ram spoils and a Lumbering horn, no shield, but oh well! All in all, this was a pretty easy fight, and extremely exciting being the first HNM fight I've ever been involved in. Fun! More! More!

My Bro who is a 57DRK/WAR was in dunes leveling his low lev character when his ls buddies infromed him about the "Bloodtear in LaThine" Need an high lev pty and right away. Soooo he hesitates for a bit and then instant-warp to Sandy. Gets changed and by that time he has a holla waiting for him. He quickly gets to la-thine. Got there and claimed him and ran around till other members in the ls arrive. But tooo late for him, he had to diengage after he is in the red and "flee". Just after he disengaged a ls came from no where, so many pld's and mages. They beat the crap out of it in less than two min. Never seen an alliance of plds and mages takin on a NM b4, but this one rocked the house.

Two days later, my other bro who is a 62 RDM and his ls tried it again, but no spawn, till they were about to log off. He pop's and RDM held it with him till the war, thef, drk, pld, whm, blm,arrived. They totally demolished the DUmmy Ram and got the name but not the shield.

ummm, I walked up to this guy, not knowing that he aggroed, thought he linked like sheep. Wanted to get a picture, because <t> just looks badass, and am dead in one hit. Unfortunately, there is this guy using /follow on me who was afk. I felt really bad for him...

killed him last night, no drop again, 0/3 on him .... camping him right now maybe #4 is the one to gimme a shield

3 hours later... just killed him no drop again 0/4 ....

my frieand as a 25war was running through la thein and a message in the chat log comes up that says "Arngrin is drawn in." we are both just wondering wtf its talkin about when suddenly a huge ram appears and like owns him in 2 hits (Baldurf missed on the 1st hit). Low lvls beware!Bloodtear Baldurf lingers in the bushes of La Thein Plateau. <(^_^)>
