Lottery spawn of the Notorious Monster Lumbering Lambert that spawns from (G-9) to (I-9) in La Theine Plateau.

Has a Draw-In effect.

Guaranteed Drop(s): Lumbering Horn

Grants Title: The Hornsplitter

Bloodtear Baldurf Special Attacks

Ram Charge: Single target physical damage with an additional Knockback effect.

Rage: Self target Attack Boost and Defense Down effect (Effect can be dispelled).

Petribreath: Frontal cone AoE Petrification effect.

Great Bleat: AoE HP Down effect (Circle of effect originates from mob).

Rumble: AoE Evasion Down effect (Circle of effect originates from mob).

Mighty Strikes: All melee attacks performed by Bloodtear Baldurf will deal critical damage during the duration of effect. Denoted by the characteristic mob two-hour animation.

Bloodtear Baldurf is capable of performing Mighty Strikes multiple times.

Getting ready for Promyvion-Dem last night one of our members says out of nowhere - "I need 6 ppl Lv. 60+ in my PT to go kill Bloodtear in La Theine Right now"
I respnd "<<< 57 THF"
Him- "Your going"
I drop PT and join his as I hit the MH to regear to my level, was wearing my Noct set for Promyvion. WHM had to make 2 trips cuzthe PLD and I missed the Tele. When I arrived the leader was on the hunt, found Bloodtear, and was pulling him to the crag. The fight took all of 3 minutes. I hit him with several SATA Viper Bites. Drops included about 7 Ram Skins, 1 Ram Horn and 1 Lumbering Horn. No shield, o well at least i got a kool new title. - "The Hornsplitter" Smiley: yippee

U gotta at least give me credit for trying!...

i was walking back from selbina, (decided to walk insteada use a chocobo) and i was using my lvl 32 blm/1rng. (i camp lizzy a lot, 12/33 on lizzy) so...for the heck of it, i jus started to check wide scan as i passed by the area...and i saw an odd name...heh, sure enough, it was our good friend Bloodtear. so obviously i knew it was a notorious monster when it said impossible to guage...but for some odd reason i had never ever heard of the rams in konschtat or la theine...so i assumed it was a low lvl jus like the rest of the mobs there...so, being the big bag lvl 32 blm i castin water II on it! my attack took his health down enough to make him feel like he got hit by a feather!...and so, as i see my attack do nothing, i started trying to run away...and BAM! im dead...i was kinda wondering why everyone was jus looking at him insteada tryin to kill him...so, i got raised, and decided this time i wanted screen shots...i asked everyone in the area if bloodtear linked...no reply, so, i went up close to him, and got some kinda nice shots, and then...i started m way off to join the crowd...when i heard him charging....i was like...crap..heh, so i started runnin again and kapow! i died again...so...i deleveled this time...luckily when i got raised i got my lvl back, and i watched as a party of lvl 50 whms, and high lvl plds and others killed him, no drop.

Yeah.... spotted him last night...

I was seeing rams all day while leveling up my DRK( to 15), so I switched to 30WAR and decided to go hunt them down....

When I come across this one on a dirt road not to far from the crag. I start running towards it getting my Boost going and cursor ready for a weaponskill----

Then I noticed something.................ODD.

As I got closer to it, it seemed to get bigger...... in fact this thing actually covered the road... probably grazing on other lvl 30s.

I also noticed his detail was WAY different-- were those muscles?!??!?!

And clawed hooves???

My gamer senses are tingling: "Something's very different about this guy...."

But what?!?!

A mere second from provoking it---- I decided to check it----- the name alone sent shivers down my character's spine--- before I could pronunce BloodTear Baldurf, it started moving around. I hauled ***!

So I run just far enough so I don't have to see this beast, I need to get to Sandy and complete a mission. But I heard stories of this BloodTear and they never seem to end well...

After standing there and running further back-- I swear it sees me---I decide to just point at it.

Suddenly, a SWAT team of players, at level Johnny BadAss, fall out of the sky and surround it. A lvl 75 Galka NIN beats the thing down, with the help of healers--- cuz they were actually going toe-to-toe for a while. Other AF clad players were like watching but at a distance... like myself.

It took forever, but that 75 NIN OWNED BloodTear. And everyone clapped, and gave props-- then left. And I continued to Sandy.

I wished my Print Screen Button worked-- cuz it decided to just malfunction RIGHT when BloodTear showed up--- I guess it was scared too.

Later on my roomie was like: "Wow! Good thing you checked it. Most noobs just attack it mistaking it for a regular ram."

I'm like: I don't know how!!!! The thing's HUGE!

Saw him yesterday while looking for lambert for a friend. He shows up on widescan my friends says "Get him, Get him" I reply "Hell no" There he is, my friend gets close....too close and in an instant is flattened >< and i couldn't do a thing about it. Passerbys stop to get a glimpse and end up getting killed too. So I shout "BEWARE BLOODTEAR BALDURF AT H-9" for some reason people come from all over La theine to get murdered. some guy screams "cool i've been looking for him forever". He PROVOKES Bloodtear, can u believe it? instant dead man. I get on all my LS and tell them. someone asks me to keep an eye on him. After about 10 minutes he's off my scan. VANISHED. maybe some high lvls killed him.

but when you see a ram THAT BIG. its probably not a good idea to take a closer look ><

Fought him like 6 times. Got the shield once. It was a nice split of 133k. He's only good for kicks and giggles or if you feel like duoing him. Bloodtear is too weak

We were partying in Valley of Sorrows when one of our members said his friend spotted Bloodtear in La Theine. We rested up, teleported, and snagged him just before a group of high levels got him. The fight took about 5-10 minutes, and my Thundaga II doing 580 dmg wouldn't even touch his HP. He has a TON of HP. No viking shield ; ;

Seen this thing spawn in H-8 on my way to the lake to get a pl for my thf, called LS to come... only to be beaten by a RDM69 who solo'd it almost... some whm came up and starting curing him with my ls waiting for the RDM to die. -_-. Didn't drop anyway.

saw a war/nin *almost* solo this mob. ls member had to throw in one or two cure III's on him though no drop on the mob though

I was running through when suddenly i see the beast, i love to fight rams so i was about to sneak up on it then i relized it was a NM so i had my brother check what lvl it was and he came back and siad "GET THE HECK AWAY FROM THAT THING" so i ran away sad, and wishing i could fight it im a lvl 32 rdm, 6 war, 3 mnk, 12 whm, 17 drg, and 4 bst i am an elvaan

I was farming Rams as lvl 30 BLM and i killed like 5 rams and then i saw Lampert spawn and i was pretty far from him so i dont get aggroed and i saw lvl 75 RDM running by and i aksed if she could kill it. She invited me to her party which was me some lvl 20 with no sub and her so we started figfhting it and she kept blasting him with Fire 3 it was awesome she killed it really fast and ofcourse i helped. SO we got Lamperts horn and some horns and lots of skins me and 20lvl guy lotted and we both got lotsof items. So then i went to sandy to get rid of my lad and i came back so i tuned widescan on and i see baldurf so i was WoWe. I run to him and some BLM was trying to Sleep 2 and Bind it and keep him taken until his pt comes but he gets owned fast. Then some RDM comes and sleeps 2 it and i saw in chat thing saying that RDM si drawn in and RDM dissapears so i like WTF. and RDM keeps reapiring and drain in. Then a a PLD, WHM, BLM, RDM and a THF comes in and stars whooping Baldurfs @$$. It was amazing. the PLD couldnt hold hate, THF kept SATA Baldurf. PLD used Cover on THF. And they defeated him but they didnt get a drop.
Baldurf was using Mighty Strikes every minute it was insane

I was lvling SAM in the area and saw a couple of rams spawn. Then he spawned about 30 mins later and starting slaying everything. He killed a lvl 62 whm that was trying to hold it for his LS. Then a group of lvl 70's showed up and litterally wooped the crap out of him it was an awesome fight and got some really good pics. It killed about 30 ppl before they finally took it down. I asked and they did not get the drop. Just thought i would add my story. Good Hunting.

When i was running back to Sandoria after finishing the bard quest i see a buncha people running away from bloodtear. I knew he was an NM, but i didnt know he was a lvl 63 one,^^; so i go ahead and boost about 5 times and then ready sneak attack to take that bad boy down...then he turned around and killed me in two hits :( each hit was about 280 O.o (i was a lvl 30 thf at the time) then bloodtear just started massacring people left and right. After i got a raise i used flee and went back to west ronfaure..i will get my revenge though sooner or later ^^

Fought this guy a few days ago on my way to exp in Gustav tunnel. I had a 58-61 party, consisting if pld whm rdm drk drg blm -

We took this guy pretty easy, no panicking but the pld used Invincible just to be safe. Has a NASTY 2 hour where he curses everyone and all our HP's dropped to 200s, ok that was scary \('A`)/

but fight didnt last longer than 3 minutes or so, unfortunately, no drop :(

I was only Lv 15 when I first encountered this enormous guy in La Theine Plateu. I was heading to San d'Oria to sell some items I'd picked up while partying as a WAR in Valkurm. I rounded the moutainside and started hearing the thunderous footsteps of something big ahead, and my screen started shaking from the tremors. I kind of got freaked out at that, being still very much a "green" player. Anyway, when Bloodtear for came into view I was like, "Wow, that's a pretty darned huge sheep!" It was only when I'd run closer to it that I saw exactly how big it was!

Bloodtear is ENORMOUS!!! I think that first view of him was enough to solidify him as the NM I like the most. He was being attacked by at least 8 people, two parties allied, I guess. They seemed to handle him well, despite looking like ants being trampled, and in a few minutes he finally fell to them. Meanwhile, I had been watching from not far off, eyes as white as dinner plates and a "Wow!" expression plastered on my face. I couldn't believe enemies got that big, it was like watching workmen demolish an apartment block!

I wish I knew how to take screenshots on PC, so I could hunt him down and use his picture as my background in windows. ^_^

... Is it weird that I have a favourite NM, or can someone save my soul by concurring? o_O

Your name does seem familiar, so yes, I probably have partied with you at some stage. Valkurm, perhaps? I don't think many people have gone through the Lakshmi server without partying with me at least once. I often get people waving at me and telling me, "What, you're levelling ANOTHER job, Psy?!"

Are you sure about that? I just killed this guy with 6 or 7 other people. My ls was workin on getting unlit lanterns for zilart mission 4, and we got a tip that he was up. A blm of ours was there and he pulled it and four of us started fighting it. I actually tanked it for almost all of the fight (72 whm / thf) and he only hit me 4xs.. saw him use mighty strikes twice

I was on a errand for a friend when i saw this ram on the way while riding my choco, i thought it was same lv as a Lumbering Lambert, but i was wrong. I dropped off of my choco and fought it, oh boy, wrong ram. Hit me for 100+ dmg and i died quick. I was a lv 47 rdm. I'm gonna get revenge one day. Muahahahah, muahahah ><

killed this lastnight, unfortunately died on first try but went back and owned him, first was me 66 rdm (now 65 ><), 60 RDM. Second time it was me, 60 RDM, and a 60ish whm, no shield drop just horn, but a really fun fight.

Oh my...

I'm escorting a lower level friend to Sandoria, when someone yells for raises. Being a nice level 46 WHM, I decide to help. We tell him we're on our way, and he tells me, "Careful, some nasty mobs up here".

Now I think "Oh, must be nasty for low levels..."

I get there, round a corner, BAM! Bloodtear!

He aggros me, Im like "omg wtf!" try to run, he kills me in 3 hits. I'm laughing as I tell my low level friend to get away, I'll port right back. She asks what killed me. "An Orc?" I tell her no right as my port pops off.

I come back to La Theine, she's already dead, and tells me, "Wow that's a big sheep!"

I proceed to wind my way between the mountains back to my friend, this time with Sneak and Invis on, hoping that's enough to not draw his hate. I shout that an NM has spawned, and it's location, and would some high levels PLEASE come kill this thing so we can rescue everyone.

Someone shouts "On our way!" and I creep in literally following the trail of corpses as I go, raising and advising people to get the hell outta Dodge before he comes back.

I finally find my friend as a high level Paladin and Summoner engage it. I raised 5 people who all promptly ran down to get a front row seat of the people killing him. Other people show up to watch, and it actually gets so bad on my DSL that I was getting lag!

One guy drew aggro from a nearby gob and died again, and lordy, we were all cracking up so much. haha

Turns out all those people died, and he didn't even drop anything. lmao

I should have remembered this thread before running into this guy in la theine. Agrod him and new right away that he was going to slaughter me. Bad time to realize I hadn't replace my warp scroll since the last time I used it. Threw on my 2 hr. and ran like crazy. Big fella is pretty quick considering his size. End of story, I was dead a couple of 100+ hits after my invincibility ran out and to make it worse he took me back down to lvl 36!:( Learned a valuable lesson, stay clear of this guy till very high level.

Boy was this guy fun. We were coffer key hunting in Davoi when we heard he was up. Our THF fleed over, chocoed at Dem and claimed. We arrived a minute later:

59THF/NIN
two 59RDM/NINs
58BLM/WHM (me)

THF tanked with utsusemi and his high evasion till we all arrived. RDMs buffed us and debuffed him. I spammed cure 1's, interlaced with elem debuffs and occasional nukes. I used Burst near the end, but the 906 dmg that it did wasn't really significant. The AoE max HP down was pretty rough. One of the RDM/NIN's evaded it, phalanxed and tanked after the first AoE. A WHM from our LS showed up near the end of the fight and helped me with cures and re-buffs. 15 mins total.

We took him down easily. No drop. Fun as h3ll though. This experience makes me want to fight more NM's as soon as possible. XD

<3 RDM/NIN btw. . .amazing combination. Elvaan, in case you're wondering.

I was running around killing Rams when I spotted Bloodtear Baldurf in area H-9......and that's when the (/tell)s for raises started coming in. I moved in closer to see bodies laying about, and after raising one, he was aggroed from a distance and struck down again. I watched a DRK try to solo it, and after he was defeated I was attacked. I managed to take about 6 hits before my Scroll of Instant Warp kicked in.
I tip my hat to whoever put this dude to rest.

Me and some LS mates took this down yesterday, and it was a very fun fight :)
party was:
60WHM
54THF
60BRD
61RNG
60SAM
61RDM

SAM, WHM, BRD used 2-hours.

Got close at the end, when the punk used "Great Bleat" which gives a Max HP Down effect... your Max HP gets cut to about what it is for raise weakness... I went from 1200ish to 220ish, nasty move. This is an AOE skill... every pt member's hp gets chopped down like a twig.
Oh yeah, and it dropped the shield :D
Sold on AH for 800k (Cerberus), for a tasty 133k per person. Not bad for about 4 minutes and 30 seconds of hacking at a giant sheep of doooom.

this guy just appears behind me while killin a simple orc and then wastes me in one hit lol.....some lv 60 linkshell dudes show up looking to kill him....I did get a raise....and wary now of the area lol.....thanx bloodtear grrrrr

Myself and about 12 spectators watched a 74 NIN
solo this thing--took him about 10-15 min.

...he took about 10hp in damage the whole fight. lol . No drop though.
