This mob has to be above lvl 50! Me (70blm) camped this with a lvl 75pld and 70 drg. Pld voked and fight was going good. Suddenly the plds health goes down to 80. The mob casted Freeze on a lvl75 pld for over 1200 dmg, while all 3 of us were hitting it. Got the earring though : )

It's not that high at all guy, it just has strong magic (and PLD have little to no defense against magic, even thier 2 hour Invincible doesn't stop magic). You shouldn't have let a mob that drops a +Magic attack item get an AM (Ancient Magic) off in the first place. My and a few of my friends killed this thing while we were skilling up on cockatrice and we didnt even switch to our good weapons. We were like 55-60 or something, there was about 4 or 5 of us. Next time party with some people who have half a brain before you try to take down another NM, escially if it's an easy NM like this so people don't hafta see these posts about how hard it is to kill an easy NM.

It spawns at I-9 arounds those 3 funny looking stones. Surrounded by gobs and cockatrice so clear the way before you fight.
It's a 2 hour spawn but from experience it's usually about 2hr:10min after its last death.
There's no need to kill the surrounding goblins as they're not placeholders. The drop rate for Moldavite earring isn't that common so be prepared to be disappointed.
A RDM 60-62 can solo this.
I've beat it twice EASILY with the following setup:
PLD59, BLM60, BLM62, BLM67.
It cannot be silenced even after shock so don't bother. Just cast debuffs and nuke away... Good luck.

What are the spawn conditions?
Is it a lottery pop with the other Gobs? If so, what Gob type does it replace?
Or does it just pop every 2 hours??

Well, judging from the drops, I'd say this guy is either a Black Mage (Silence) or a Red Mage (Silence and Sleep)

Well, he IS a blm...he uses Manfont...if he was rdm he would use chainspell and if whm he would use Benediction...
Well, according to your logic, he'd be either a WHM or a RDM. Silence is a WHM spell.
He can be handled quite easily by a group of 4 level 58s, provided you have a Tank, a healer, and 2 at least moderate damage dealers.
