Here was the party setup when I did it. 2 DRK 1 PLD 2 RDM 1 WHM. I don't remember subs because I did it so long ago. All you need is 3 ppl fighting the main NM and 1 person to kite about half the others. The only prob we had was the amount of time it takes to kill it. He has terrible accuracy but hits hard. As a 50 DRK I was able to tank him just fine when he got to half health and I got all the hate (well maybe a hit or 2). Just concentrate on healing the tank, DD the hell out of the main and have someone with high evasion to kite the others.
Our party setup was PLD, WHM, MNK, RDM, BLM, and BST (me, at level 49).
I wasn't too confident going in because some rank 6 guy who heard me calling for PT members told me that BST was worthless for this fight, but it worked out very well. There are two corridors that the skeletons come from, in the southwest corner and the southeast corner. I found that using my funguar familiar (for blunt damage against skeles) against the adds and fighting them in the middle of the room with the other melees taking on the NM at the back of the room made it so that new adds entering from the south see my engaged pet first and linked onto it instead of other party members.
Even at the beginning of the fight before I realized how that would work, it was tremendously easy to pull the first couple links off of other party members. As another poster pointed out, I probably should have gone in first, but no matter. I was also amazed that my pet took so little damage jug pets have notoriously low HP and lower stats, but my funguar familiar never went below 50% health and I didn't need to use pet food even once.
All members were at least level 50. PLD went in first and attacked Taber'quoan while aggroing all of his minions. Everyone else followed shortly thereafter and attacked Taber'quoan while completely ignoring the minions. RDMs kept everyone healed (especially the MNK), Hasted the MNK, and kept Taber'quoan debuffed (Silence is the main thing - he *can* be silenced, I'm 100% sure of it). MNK of course used her 2-Hour immediately.
We finished the battle in 3 minutes, 10 seconds compared to the previous record of 3 minutes, 49 seconds. Easy stuff.
I was wondering if this thing can be done with this setup:
PLD/WAR DRK/THF RDM/NIN
My 51 RDM friend and I (53 DRK)were in Fei Yin yesterday killing Shadows, Ore Golems, and Underworld Bats for key with no problem. We were going to try this with just us 2, but decided that it'd be safer to take a tank too. Any feedback would be appreciated.
BLM/WHM (me) WHM/BLM RDM/BLM MNK/WAR MNK/WAR DRK/WAR When we entered to the BC, we ate our food, buff, and the 2 MNKs entered at the same time and used Hundred Fists against the Arch'lich, I nuked the main Lich, and also help heal the WHM. the DRK was fighting the other skellies while the RDM casted Gravity, slow and all enfeeblings on the minions. After I casted a cure III on one of the MNKs I switched to see Arc'lich's health and it had like 10% so I casted Freeze and it died :)
i just did this today with my linkmates, and it was damn close. pld ran in got all aggro, we all followed and beat up the main guy. the whm died from using curaga II so it was a race. everyone started dying and at the end it was only me (thf) left with perfect dodge up and his life not even visible. but he got me. we were waiting for it to be clear for the whm to reraise, and the guy died! it turns out he died from my viper bite and Dia II. we were so surprised and happy. good times
Entered BC, we all ate food(well, those who brought food), buffed and rested. War tanked basically the whole battle while the thf kept the weaker skeletons busy. Lot's of battle spam though so i'm not 100% sure that nobody 2h'd, although the sam grabbed hate towards the end so he may have used 2h. It wasn't any record setting pt, but we got it done in about 5mins and 30seconds.
the fight was quite easy, it didn't get dangerous at any time (we didn't even have to 2hr), we took him down in bout 5 mins and set the record on Pandem. Everybody just focused on the main mob and after some Penta's and Combo's he was dead.
Went in with 2 MNK, 2 RDM, and WHM and a PLD (me). I ate a Tavnazian Taco and ran in, voking the Archlich and getting aggro from everything. I used Holy Circle right away, and it really seemed to help- I intimidated the archlich a view times, as well as the lesser skeletons.
Anyway, we melee'd the lich down to about half, and then everyone used their 2-hours. RDMs used Chainspell and Fire II, and the MNKs just wailed. Despite using Invincible, I lost hate to one of the MNKs, but by that time, the fight was pretty much over. It went from half health to dead in about 10 seconds, and we set the record on Sylph- just over 4 minutes. Thanks to everyone who helped! I can finally sell my armor now.
I'm going to take a stab and say no, I've yet to fight this thing but...being a Dragoon your piercing weapon receives a bonus detriment v. skeletons, whereas your Wyvern's Blunt damage receives a bonus. I'd have to say you'd probably get beaten, not badly but I still think you wont be able to solo it.
I tried this once with a few people once with 2 who werent prepared for the cap but said they were ><. The brd that time and blm worked as hard as they could to sleep the minions. We got close but first the blm went down then the brd and then the whm and pld and it was over. The second time wasnt nearly as bad and we didnt have a bard or even a whm, we went in with 2 rdm's and a blm for mages. Melee were a drk a sam and a pld. We decided to just tank the minions with pld by having him run out first and use his 2hr when/if too many minions got away and started interrupting spells and hurting the mages. We focused all of our attacks on the archlich and it went down pretty easily in fact. The drk was doing a lot of dmg per hit and the sam did plenty of dmg with his 2hr. After a little bit, we won and the minions dissappeared.
The point of this post is to show that the common idea of using brd or even mages to keep the minions asleep didnt work with a group put together by shouting. And that a mnk wasnt needed in this setup the sam and drk did enough dmg. If you cant get your hands on a MNK or a BRD you should know those 2 jobs arent neccesary for this fight. Nor are they neccesary to have an easy time of this fight. The minions dissapear when the Archlich is killed you really only need to focus your energy on him. Sleeping the minions brings too much hate on the caster, they cant really hurt non-mages nor can they interrupt their spells.
I went with my LS over the weekend to fight this guy. We were:
SAM/WAR NIN/BLM WHM/BLM BLM/WHM RDM/BLM PLD/WAR
The PLD ran in and tanked Archlich and the BLM focused on killing all the minions with his -ga spells. He was getting beat on pretty bad, so the WHM only focused on curing him. The PLD was only getting hit for like 7-10 per hit, so he was fine.
About 1/3 of the way though the battle with the Archlich, I (SAM) pulled serious hate. He wasn't hitting me hard, so it wasn't a big deal, but the PLD was so baffled by the fact that he lost hate. After awhile of him trying to get the hate back, he finally ran over and {Cover}ed me even though I was barely down in HP, because I think he couldn't stand to not have the mob hitting him. ;)
Honestly..pansy! The Summoners by the end were just sitting, I took at all the little ones in one shot ;P. A few barrages, a couple of double punches later. "Is that it?" lol
my pt was: pld/war (me) rng/nin rng/war blm/whm bst/whm whm/blm
I went in to tank the main NM and the rest kill the other 2 skeletons. Once those 2 were dead everyone except the bst attack the main NM. The bst acted as our bodyguard, killed any skeletons that is coming to us. No one's hp went yellow except me.
I am a lowly level 44 Redmage, but eversince I saw the Apple Pie video (you all know what I'm talking bout..that Taru is my hero) I have been inspired to solo this mission. I have heard rumours that there has been an update that makes this impossible due to time constraints, just wanted to verify if this was true. Also I was wondering if this setup would work to deal enough damage in the amount of time. Redmage sub Ninja Weapons: 2x Knights Swords +1 Gear: Valkery Mask, Sarashi, 2x Puissant Rings, Spike Necklace, Battle Gloves, Brigandine, Battle Gloves, Magic Cuirass, Magna Boots, appropriate INT switch gear. I would go in, haste up, stoneskin phalanx etc. Then do as the great Apple Pie and just charge in with Chainspell blazing hoping I can take down all of his HP. I'll be sure to post when I actually try this...until then plz send your comments or suggestions. I done want to die for nothing.
After getting snubbed by a bunch of japanese players, I did a shout to my friends and LS and got 5 others willing/needing to go.
Party: 2x WHM BLM PLD THF DRG
Relatively easy time getting there and we quickly went into the BC. Mages did all the fun buffs and we said ***** waiting for mana and ran in, screaming like idiots over TeamSpeak.
PLD, being two levels under cap, never lost mana. WHMs were just pouring out Banishga and II, I did a total of 3x Aeroga II, 2x Waterga II, 1x Thunderaga, 3x Banishga. PLD never lost hate.
We all got into the yellow a couple of times when the Arch did Blood Saber. I ended the whole fight with a lovely 695 DMG Freeze.
Was really really easy. We didn't even know what we were doing for the most part!
I wanted to do that mission as my main (thf) but also to be able to deal a lot of damage to that lich. So I had my monk sub leveled and my hand to hand capped just for that fight and G1 :p
Party setup : RDM WHM THF/NIN PLD DRG/THF and me as THF/MNK. Skillchain : Red Lotus blade => SATA raging fists for fusion.
Battle plan : PLD voked and tanked straight up. Everyone ignored the adds. We then build TP as fast as we could (focus was a big help) for skillchain. I'd SATA raging fists on DRG, other THF SATAed back on PLD who then used 2 hour to grab hate back while DRG jumped hate away. We then build TP again to do a second skillchain, which almost finished the lich. It was dead very soon afterwards.
I used a pamama au lait, finished the fight in yellow HP, no one died.
Our skillchain is what allowed us to win rather easily : first SATA raging fists for approx 860 dmg (not counting red lotus blade, fusion and MB damage), second SATA raging fists for 1095 dmg.
People were worried about no monk in party, but don't underestimate what a thf/mnk can do on bones :p
Just did this tonight, and wanna give ya'll the skinny so you don't make the same mistakes we did. I read through all these before hand, but I figure I learned a couple nuggets of wisdom in addition.
We didn't have a BRD or MNK. Just about every post in this thread had one. We didn't. Asked virtually all of 'em, but no takers.
Characters that needed the mission were 55 DRK/THF (me), 60 BLM/WHM, and 51 DRG/WAR. We had a high lvl RDM and WHM help us out, and a 53 PLD. All, obviously, capped at 50. [Note: the WHM didn't have lvl 50 gear, so basically went nekkid.]
First Attempt: We went in with the same ole basic strategy. 1. Mages buff; 2. Melee's melee NM and virtually ignore adds; 3. Mages cure, debuff, nuke, and sleep adds. Everyone 2hr'd. Sleeps got resisted about 90% of the time. The BLM and RDM got toasted, and after that it got very ugly. We all died with NM at about 25% HP.
Second Attempt: Thinking that maybe the adds spawned in the big room, I pulled with ranged attack and we fought on the stairs. Adds still spawned like crazy. Sleeps still sucked (even with elemental seals), but I'd try to keep some of the hate with AOE WS. The DRG and PLD would voke adds, and I'd cast sleep on them to try and pull hate from mages. Again the BLM and RDM went down and everyone else soon after.
Third Attempt: Before entry, as always, we buffed up. Seeing as the mages always started the domino effect due to hate, I told 'em that when I got close to 100% TP, I'd spam my status macro, and have them run up next to me. Then I do AOE WS, kill lots of mobs and get hate from the others, and hopefully save the mages. This is what finally worked. Two of the mages still died, but we killed the NM and all was right once again in the world.
WHM always cast reraise 2 on herself before battle, and then raise 2 on each of us after battle. So, even though everyone died 2-3 times, exp loss was negligible.
I'm just throwing this out there in case someone, like me, is jonesing for Rank 6 and can't get a BRD or MNK to join party. It's very doable.
Good question about Snm. On my last fight, my 7th, we had to recruit anyone from Fei'Yin area. One of the mages had to leave-an emergency. A Smn happened to be in area and join at last min.
So we enter Circle and buff. I use Icarus wing, Haolong, monk. Plan is simple. Full attack NM. Counter paralysis and slow when needed. So one of the two pally's decided to do Minion control. He's got 3 minions aggro. I notice this because I can see only a few weapons striking NM. This caused the fight to last longer. Suddenly, I see red in the party hp panel. Then, just as suddenly it is 0. The Smn goes down. Shortly, after the Ranger goes down. My first fight were two ppl die. AFter a few shouts for Pally to come and engage the NM. We finally defeat it. I'm, monk, down to under 300hp. Two were dead. The rest were under 100hp. One was near 40hp.
Make your own conclusions, but in that fight Smn went down first. Also, if one ppl is going for Minion control, be prepared for a closer fight. That tactic is kinda like going in with only 5 ppl. Perhaps 5 ppl can win; but gotta be good party.
If you need a Monk on Remorah, look me up. Haolong. I'd like to help=love this fight.
i know everyone says its easy with mnk but would a smn hold out at all i mean ifrit+inferno=everything like dies wouldn't a smn do at least a decent job in this mission if not rival mnk in usefulness?
Done this bad boy 3 times since I'm a monk...people always beg me to come along :/
done WAR/NIN WAR/NIN MNK DRK WHM and BLM. I found it ridiculous thast one of the WAR/NINs died.
next was MNK MNK PLD BLM WHM RDM it was so easy.
then last time I did it, PT setup was MNK BLM THF WHM RDM. BLM used high lvl AoE spells to kill skeletons whenever they spawned. Once again, Overkill.
Unless you have one that wants to while your searching for members or you don't have a MNK, don't waste your time on a tank, he goes down too fast for PLD to grab hate from Hundred Fists 9unless he uses invincible). My friends PT had to zone as PLD THF RDM BLM WHM WAR...they coulda just sucked, but one or 2 MNKs makes it <Too Weak>.
