Historical Information

The Peg Powler is a hag from English folklore with a green skin, long hair and sharp teeth who is said to inhabit the River Tees. She grabs the ankles of those who wander too close to the water's edge, especially naughty children, and pulls them under water and drowns them; in Mickleton In Teesdale this is referred to as the High Green ghost. It is highly similar to the Dutch folklore figure Haantje Pik. Grindylows and Jenny Greenteeth are similar water spirits.

Difficult Fight

For a SMN72, DRK72, and PLD 70, they barely managed to kill it and an add. However, the DRK was subbing NIN and using an Axe and a Sword (He was around 120 in sword) and the SMN had about 700 MP at the start of the fight. I was able to melee it decently and only missed once or twice.

It has roughly ten thousand hit points, so take into consideration that that is a fairly hefty amount of damage to do while looking out for adds.

And I got the axe too! It was the only drop, not even a seashell came out of it.
Fun!

Myself a 60 RDM/BLM and a 64 SAM/WAR took this thing down this last weekend. I ended out needing to convert but we eventually got it down. My SAM friend had like 240 HP left and I had 9 MP left when he fell. He got the his axe he wanted and I got me a voke partner for bastardblix LOL.

Thought I'd share my experience with camping this NM... party setup was THF70/NIN35, RDM68/BLM34, WHM59/BLM29, WHM70/BLM35, and WAR56/NIN28. We camped G-7 for about 4 hours and cleared the room countless times, but it didn't pop the entire time. Does anyone know the spawn window for him?

"Solo'd" him today as a lvl 56 bst. (well, pets did all the work. he was doing 150 hit min to me if he got too close)

Just kept throwing T and even junk at him and running, recasting blink and some regen.. then swapped pets out.

took 1/2 hour. had my friend with me as thf, but he merely hit it once near the end to get TH2 in there a bit. dropped 4500 each, and the axe.. which.. i'll just end up dropping :)

he was in my lvling way, killed me when I wasn't paying attention and threw a manta at him by accident earlier that day.

Kicked this guys *** last night..
72 MNK, 67 DRK <me>, 62 THF and 62 RDM

Took about an hour to pop after clearing the room @G7 twice..fight was very easy, took 1:12.
I have a video of it but for some reason, all the codec packs I have aren't allowing it to play still, any suggestions would be great... used Fraps to record it. I'd say by the dmg I was doing and the MNK was doing/taking this guy is 67-69. Link to a picture of the axe is:

Hope this helps

I was farming my 71/35 MNK/THF in onzozo when a buddy of mine (playing WHM/BST at the time) shoots me a tell that this NM is on wide scan. A little tricky since neither of us were using peak fighting job combos, but we still managed to beat it barely. Got the "axt" and shell. A LS buddy of mine likes G.Axes so he's gonna be freaked that I got this one. Maybe I'll throw some more levels on my WAR and give it a road test.
Not too hard.

Fought this thing with my exp party.

He was about as tough as a Torama, so knowing the gap between NM's and regular monsters difficulties I'd say he was around level 61-62.

Has the nastiest AoE blind I think I've ever seen, it was still on my five hours later before I realized I was still blinded.

This thing spawns @ G-8 and a THF can steal 2k gil from it.

I killed this thing with a pt of 60-63:
PLD, SAM, DRK, RDM, WHM, BLM

we were on our way to go lvl in Labyrinth of Onzozo when our pld says "NM o_O" and we see it and we decided to give it a try. Evidently it aggroed our pld anyway <_< and we mutilated it. It hit the pld pretty hard, not to mention it linked with the mantas that surrounded it, but all in all it wasnt too difficult of a fight. We each got 1000 gil and it dropped Schwarz Axt, which our SAM took for his warrior, who was only a few lvls under the req. So a party of 60 can take this down with some effort.

@ level 69 THF/WHM running through to find a chest, I spot this thing and go what the hell I'll sneak attack it. Maybe one or two pixels of life came off. Oh **** #1. Then it hits me like 3 times in a row for 80-95 damage. Oh **** #2. I realize I forgot to re-buy my warp scroll. Oh **** #3. I flee and run as far as I can, when flee runs out I log out.

Hitting a 69 thief with +20 evasion like 4/5 times so I say this thing can hit you hard. Be careful.

While running through with my nice new shiny map, I ran into him. Passed him by, as I'm just a 60 RDM, and everything around him was DC.

Came back a bit later, and a 74 PLD was fighting him. Watched a bit, and cheered...then the PLD came to about 1/8 HP left...tried curing himself, and was interrupted. I threw 2 Cure IV's on him, and he invited me to join. I did, and Refreshed him right away, as he was down to about 100 MP.

From that point on, the fight was never out of hand, but it took a good 5 minutes (I didn't melee at all, thought if for some reason I needed to Convert, wanted to have HP up). Grabbed a couple of pictures of him too that I'll have to submit.

I've kill this NM twice solo (Once as a 56 bst, and once as a 57 bst), took about 10-15minutes each time. He dropped the axe both times (which I threw away because its rare/ex ><)and also received 6000gil, 140xp with pet still alive and a shall shell. Funny thing is the axe is spelled Schwarz "Axt". From how much xp I received, my guess is that he's level 60 or 61.

He was hitting my pets (using Mushussu and Flying Mantas) for anywhere from 90-160dmg. Hit me for around 100 or so also when my stoneskin/blink wore off.

Not really worth the time if you don't plan on using the Great Axe.
